This exact problem is what burnt up my steels and frictions and cooked my fluid. I was at 3,500 RPM before the lockup happened and holy shit. I was burning rubber just to get back and forth. Finally no forward gears. Obviously sooner or later it was going to happen. I just rebuilt the trans this weekend 2001 4r70w with 232 ford Essex engine and I’m glad I stumbled across this video. I’m going to buy the sonax tool to beat in there, Thank you again.
Great video, I've been debating weather to drop my valve body next or not. your explanation sounds similar to my issues. The problem I have is intermittent with the 1999 4R70W, after going faster to over 30 then slowing down to under 30 MPH I accelerate and engine reeves before the gear kicks in. This also happens when going over fast 40 and then speed drops under 40 the engine reves up then the gear kicks in. Mostly happens when I accelerate quickly as opposed to accelerating at normal driving speeds. Do you think a Valve Body rebuild would fix it. I've already replaces all 3 solenoids and both speed sensors already. apart from that problem the van accelerates from 0 to highway speeds with no issues. Thanks in advance and any help is greatly appreciated
If the vehicle has over 100,000 miles it is best to take the transmission out and rebuild the whole transmission, including installing a rebuilt valve body. However, if you want to try the valve body only, then I guess it cannot hurt anything.
@@thisisyourtransmission no the problem I’m having now is when it warms up get into operating temperature when I’m coming to us stop and the light turns green when I push the gas down the car jerks it feels like it’s in neutral and it revs up then catches gear it’s only from 1st to 2nd but I can start off in first gear shifted to second gear perfectly fine damn when I go pass 40 the car kind of jerks. I’m thinking it’s a speed sensor. I changed all solenoid and the valve body and it lasted for like 2 to 3 weeks, and the symptoms came back.
@@anthonyscvpi5154 I had a problem with the first vehicle doing this, the valve body I put in did the same thing, which is this one in the video. I show in the video what needs to be done, however, your transmission may also have to come out and be repaired internally. However, that valve that I show in the video along with other valves that I show will probably need to be replaced. I try not to short cut.
@THIS IS YOUR TRANSMISSION oh okay I had to take the transmission out because the Reverse band broke it was working perfectly fine before that happen now since I did that is giving me this problem so it's the valve body ?
Can these valve bodies even be rebuilt properly? It's million dollar machines that make this new. The average shop doesn't have this kind of equipment.
@@thisisyourtransmission I'm having jerking on reverse, gear 1-2 and 2-3. Same on others but not as bad and downshifting. It's not consistent either. 06 Nissan Maxima. 5 speed auto.
@@thisisyourtransmission About 190k. Also once the transmission gets warmed up the shifting gets much better. I recently replaced both camshaft sensors with OM ones which helped the reverse jerking. And again sometimes it jerks and sometimes not.
