Bad Seasons: Kasey Kahne 2005 

The Dodge Charger hurt him quite a bit. He was really good in 2004 because of Bill Elliott's notes and input from the previous year, but the Charger was a headache to set up. The Charger was a great looking car but it was very hard to handle and eventually Penske started using the old Intrepid Model a little bit that season. Then Kasey Kahne would be all over the place, he would have a good year in 2006 then a bad 2007 so its like every good year he would have, he would have a bad year. That Evernham team was a mess in those years, it was hard to watch.

kasey has been my favorite driver since I started watching Nascar I was 5 and I loved the way his name sounded... great way to choose a favorite driver anyway thag being said... Kasey has no bad seasons and deserved a championship in 06 but ya know... 7 wins aparantly wont get you a championship :(

Bad seasons Martin Truex Jr 2014?

I have a 2005 Kasey Kahne 1/24th Scale Die-Cast Hometown Edition and every time I look at it it reminds me of the bad season he had. Also, here’s an idea. Bad Seasons : Danica Patrick 2012,2013,2014,2015,2016 and 2017.

I have a diecast model of one of Kasey's cars from that season. Completely forgot that this season was one giant rough patch for him (save his first career win) that year.

Scott Riggs (2007)- Now I know his career is nothing to write home about, but in 2006 there had been a marked improvement in his performance from 2005..really shoulda won the Coke 600 that year, won a couple poles, and had some strong runs. Would've seen more consistent results if it weren't for a lot of bad luck. 2007 was just a complete disaster for him that showed no promise following what I consider to be a pretty decent season by his standards.

I miss everything about 2000-06 NASCAR. The direction they went in that has destroyed the sport. Starting with the COT was blamed on changing the car & product for safety post Dale Sr.’s passing. They could have fixed their concernsabout safety adjusting the width & roof height on these gen 4 cars and racing would still be awesome and full grandstands. Really pissed with little France and guys like Steve O’Donnell trying to be like the stick & ball sports when we were booming as a sport in these days. Very pissed we’ve resulted to this gimmicky bullshit of today. The only way to create any interest at all is to have a jackass “playoff” system putting it all on one single race creating a “game 7 moment. Instead of relying on what worked for 40 freaking years. I understand the argument about future and progressive but if their trying to get a format that worked for other sports for so long why can’t they see all those sports haven’t catered to anything or changed what worked and be something they aren’t. They just put the exact same ball out there every weekend and let the player entertain. You see one example lately with the NFL making rules stricter and it’s backfiring with massive hatred. They listened. NASCAR hasn’t for 10+ years and this is getting really bad. I love the sport and want to see it at it’s full potential and they aren’t taking advantage of the opportunity. They keep kneecapping themselves. Maybe it’ll turn around

Kurt Busch: 2012 Need I say more??

It seems like Kyle Larson and Kasey Kahne have a lot of similarities in the way their careers started off. Larson had a really good rookie season had multiple shots at winning in 2014 then 2015 just had a slump (didn't win like Kahne though). Then 2016-2017 broke out big time and finally starting contending. Although similarities end after 06 for Kahne. Didn't have a great 07 but picked it back up in 08 with Budweiser joining.

I think Kahne's struggles in 2005 had more to do with the new Charger than with the race team itself. The car was such a joke that teams like Penske, Petty Enterprises and even Evernham Motorsports began running the old Intrepid body until Dodge threatened to remove factory support from any team that didn't run the Charger. By then they had pretty much sorted things out aerodynamically with the Charger.

Majority of Kasey career has been bad luck. Sucks that he never got it going at Hendrick. When he went over there I really thought he was gonna be a force over there but that was never the case sadly.

I don't think it's completely fair to put this all on Kasey. Dodge struggled as a whole that year trying to figure out the balance on the charger

5:14 I've only been to three NASCAR races; 2004 Pennsylvania 500, 2005 MBNA Racepoints 500 (this race), and the 2013 Fall race at Loudon. Kasey crashed the exact same way in the latter two.

Kasey Kahne 2007 was terrible too. His only top 10s for the first 18 races was at Daytona for the Daytona 500 and Pepsi 400.
