the thing is what they say might be true for their elo for example in league of legends their are champs that blow ass in high elo but stomp low elo such as master yi, people play differently in every different rank and mmr, high mmr players might not be scared of splash down but people in low elo cant counter it for shit.
This video might as well be titled: "Exhibit A: Dunning-Kruger Effect" That said, my best friend hates Splashdown and Triple Splashdown when it's on the enemy team, how it's "unavoidable". But when she uses it, she says it's trash and it doesn't splat anyone whether inklings, octolings or salmonids.
It’s really funny seeing the switch up on stamper (and ig splatanas as a whole), from being considered rather underwhelming at launch alongside stringer to now being thought of as OP by a few people.

I know people like to poke fun at these “splashdown is good” comments, but it does paint a picture of how different low level and top level splatoon are, where things like clash blaster and (triple) splashdown are considered the best at low level, while they are significantly weaker in top level. It’s like how rookie smash players think Kirby’s stone special move is the best move in the entire series.
That's a good point though. I remember in 2. . .low level Zones was a cake walk with Splashdown. . . until you hit A rank where you get sniped every time you release the special. Same with people that point to Gold Areospray and Clash now. Once you end up in a lobby that knows how to zone you out. . . you're not going to have a good time.

Some people really put themselves on a pedastal for finding a "solution" to fighting missiles, stingray, or playing slider, etc that all the top players have miraculously missed. Dunning-kreuger effect at its finest lmao
the real funny part is their solution to missiles being moving to the side was to play into what the specials main role is. But explaining the concept of displacement specials to a A ranker might just be a lost cause when missiles are already solidified as a killing special in their minds which makes it a bad killing special when you can just move to the side
The "top players" are easy to beat with * deep breath * strategy! The type of stuff you use means nothing if they have an answer for it. You've gotta be unpredictable but also VERY predictable. Make the opponent your b*tch so-to-speak
Like, yes, Sunflora can deal good damage with Solar Power + Sun + Trick Room, but you know how often you’ll get a good opportunity to set that up without being hard punished? You know how many times you’ll be able to visibly have your special ready and just run up to someone and successfully Splashdown them? You don’t, that’s how often. Sunflora still sucks in 99.9% of games and so does Splashdown.
To be fair it actually worked but solely as a protected ink reset on inkbrush in 2. Hitting people with the visually cluttered splat bomb never got old lol. But that was when you were on top of your opponent in such a way that turning was really awkward to hit.
Being in S-rank and getting good games in S-rank proves literally nothing. I've seen so many players in high ranks that still can't aim or still don't get how the objectives works. Especially people jumping off the tower.
Can testify this, I play S+ rank and I still see people go past the 1st checkpoint first in rainmaker when holding said rainmaker, I've seen teams lose because of that.
True i remember one time that i legit had to try carry my team because they couldn't play clamblitz in rank A i was so mad at them i was like "what the point of going up in rank when yall can't play objective"
@@coffee_2234Had something similar happen too when I first ranked up to S+ in this game. A few teammates knew what they were doing but there was a concerning amount that were just throwing the objective completely. Ofc it was mostly just a handful of bad matchups but it is still surprising how many bad habits carryover at higher ranks. Salmon Run is especially a big example of this since even in EVP 200+ you still see some people that will refuse to lure bosses at all
A mention of how XL Blaster is like the French Range Blaster name, plus someone mentioning the German Aerospray name being Airbrush makes me think a lot of these comments are from English Second Language players who ran their comments through a Machine translation before posting, which would explain some of the bizarre Grammar. It's an interesting dichotomy to me because the two angles you get are the above: one where the language barrier makes the argument hard to parse through no fault of the poster; the other when the user is EFL but just so incensed by the take they can't bother to write their response readable enough to get into.
I just lost like 20 braincells. How are there so many people who think a weapon is good, just cause they can get results with them (often not even at an s+ level or even in ranked in general)?
Most of these were from S2 which had more forgiving maps, so even if a weapon was weak it could still get decent results. Plus since most of these players are on the casual side, the viability of weapons is drastically different. (Take clash for example, a miserable weapon to play in higher ranks that’s been heralded as broken since S2)
I remember when chara had under 5k subs and he used to respond to all my comments. Since, his channel had just exploded, and it’s been so nice to see him grow, even if it means he can’t respond to every comment anymore. Congrats chara if you see this. You’re the best
Comments under things like tier list videos are super annoying because you *always* get people who say, "[weapon] isn't bad, you just need to know how to use it!" No, doing well with a certain weapon in solo doesn't mean it's good, nor is the tier list for that level of play. A weapon's placement is based on factors other than you being able to get lots of kills with it.
A weapon can seem good, and not be very viable to many. If you know a good carbon deco user, and carbon isn't in a good spot, they just know most of the ins/outs of that weapon. They know what's best for the weapon, which makes that weapon good to them.

Every time an Aerospray turf war player is proud of their turf war Kda is like giving a younger sibling a pat on the back telling them they’re doing amazing.
If you consistently have positive KDA (and also recognize why this is important), you're already like a top 10% Turf War player, regardless of what weapon you use. If I could get teams of these people consistently I'd probably still play the game.

Splatoon is my favorite type of party game. I love party games that have no couch co-op and require each person to have a copy of the game to play together. What an amazing party game
3:59 in the german version of splatoon the aerospray is actually called airbrush for some reason, which is why I dont blame anyone for making that mistake, the name change is super confusing.why would they change it to another english name
I actually got completely outplayed by an undercover brella in turf war recently... and looking at it's stats I'm still confused as to how that's possible.
it facinates me how some people cannot fathom that top level splatoon uses the strongest options available. like yeah, missiles are good. and they are playing to win. of course missiles will get used.

Reminds me of a few comments I saw the other day about the Splattercolour Screen change, on a stream's comment section, not even a normal video, saying that Nintendo had "gone woke" and "given into the snowflakes" by fixing the screen. And one of them had 10 dang likes! Thanks, I didn't know fixing epilepsy issues was "going woke" now, reading those reaaaaly put me in a bad mood and I was never even affected by the issue in the first place. I would say where I saw them but in case they're trolls doing it for attention I don't want to give them any, but since there were only 5 comments on the steam they were very visible. Out of every splatoon comment I've read those were prolly the worst and not in the funny way, funny bad comments are actually, well, funny at least.

It's crazy to think that low level and high level play is much different. I'd like to believe I'm on the ok side of play, I main the gold aerospray, and while I can get rounds with like 20+ kills. It usually isn't the norm, and it definitely isn't because the weapon is good, just due to a lack of skill on the enemy teams part.
I think the reason so many people have bad comments is they can't discern from casual and competitive. Something that works in casual doesn't always work in competitive. I'd argue there are three categories casual, competitive, and hype competitive.

The undercover comments are really funny Like I main VunderSplatoon3 but even I know competitive players aren't gonna be impressed by S rank results. Takes a special kind of dumb to argue, not that a weapon has undiscovered potential, but that its potential has been discovered by one player with no comp experience

The people who said s3's maps are good probably didn't play 1 or 2 and they think all a map has to do to be good is be symmetrical because they didn't know what good maps looked like for the first couple seasons
The Reefslider one is funny. I once got someone from a Super Jump all because I pressed the R button. They physically can’t move, and I only pressed R. That’s not a “skill issue,” that’s just a bad special.

5:12 "XL Blaster" is actually the official name of range blaster in French (it's actually called "Éclablaster XL", which you could translate as "XL Pop-blaster" or something along those lines). The comment you're quoting is likely a French player who didn't know how range blaster is called in English.

I had about 1500 hours in splatoon 2 and after a few months of 3 I fell out really hard. Recently getting back into 3 and I’m glad to see there are still people who think splashdown is a good special 😂😂😂😂😂
@@batmanbud2 It’s just a panic Special. I recommend using the lobby to help practice the cancel. There’s one dummy hanging above on one of the grates that is good for practicing the reaction time. In S3 you still will probably die cause of it being Tri now but at least they won’t live
@@brennyfb I will say the rework makes the special better, since you're almost guaranteed to land a hit or even trade. Still, if they revert the nerfs they did give the rework and also give the player armor like Booyah does, it could actually be pretty decent.

The thing I find hilarious is the mindset of "competitive players aren't actually good, they just abuse the best weapons", because like.... When you're trying to win against other players, why wouldn't you use the best weapons? Even if the weapon was completely brainless, you still need to be better than the other team to win if they are also using that weapon
Blasters? Low skill? HA, no. Any weapon based on burst damage automatically has a higher skill floor than weapons with sustained DPS. Sure, easy kill if you land the shot, but if you miss and your opponent isn't blind, *Good Luck.*
