If you do NOT like the TRUTH, don't listen to this video!!! Why do Asante Ashanti Kings/Chiefs use umbrellas? Where did this tradition originate? We really need to know our history and access if it is necessary to adjust our practices. In reality, we know that people cherish traditions more than TRUTH. Most likely, this particular tradition will not be accessed or changed. However, it does not mean we have to ignore the truth about the history of the traditions.
DISCLAIMER: This is NOT an apology for what is stated in this video. I value truth more than pseudo/fake alliances. This share is to educate us on our history, encourage us to educate others, and make the necessary adjustments to move forward from here. This is the first of several discussions on sensitive topics concerning the TRULY DISPERSED diasporas' return to the African continent. . The Asante unfortunately reacted out of fear, for previously - many years prior to the transatlantic slave trade its said that a prophet among the Asante prophesied of the arrival of men from a far country with fierce countenance that would come and put an end to the Asante Kingdom. So they rushed to try and expand their kingdom by conquering the surrounding tribes in order to put up a standard against the European forces.

I encourage people to read the story of Aaron Kuku, an Eʋɛ man who was captured by the Asante and escaped during the Asante war. Another issue want to point out is that the Akan's need to correct the mixing of the spiritual with the profane. For example the story of Tano (Ta Kora - this variation is also Hebrew) and his brother Bia (also Hebrew). This is a story of 2 sons of Nyame in which the younger son Ta Kora enticed his older twin brother Bia with food to steal his birthright. Wait, isn't that Yakobe and Esau? How did we go from a Biblical story to a story of gods? Another thing is the soul names (kradin) where a child would be named after the spirit of the day he/she was born and would be blessed with the spiritual gift of that spirit. For example a Benada (Tuesday) born boy can be named Kwabena of Kobe (a variation of Yakobe). The gift of Bena is Wisdom according to the Akan Elders. This word bena in Akan is בִּינָה (bena in Hebrew) which means wisdom. So I believe that all Akan people need to get back to their roots and depart from Egyptian and Babylonian tradition.

A so called "Slave " of the Akan would never be treated as a so called "Slave" in the hands of the Europeans .In ancient times, people would (if necessary) sell themselves within the Akan culture, i.e., be a servant to a person in return for Food. Clothing, Accommodation, etc. So then, It is entirely possible that the "seller" never imagined someone would treat another human being in the way that the Europeans treated the people that were considered to be their property.

The Ashanti festival is in the old testament! They poor blood on doors just like Moses did during Israelites time in exodus! They use the bull horns as means to make music to most high. They have words like yaa which is Hebrew and andinkra cloth which is Hebrew origin ? I m a history buff too but I think you need to do proper research. African history has been distorted over centuries sis. Even the ewes who were Dahomey were involved in slave trades and also use umbrellas . I'm confused

Remember Asantes are also Israelites. We all sinned against The Most High God and we’re cursed. Read at least Deuteronomy 28:68. If God says He would punish us, He could use just anyone including ourselves to punish us. Please stop this sayings like Africans sold their brothers. It was bound to happen no Mather what. Asantes are from the Tribe of Judah.

Hi Sis, thanks for viewing and commenting. I will have to disagree. MOST Asantes who are the largest members of the Akans are not Israelites. There may have been some of them mixed in. However, in Ghana, the main tribes that are Israelites are Ewe, Guin, and perhaps the GA tribe. In Ghana, the ANE tribe is often considered to be Akan or more specifically fante -ANE. However, the Fante as a whole are not Israelites. The ANE tribe which fled from Elmina into what is now called Aneho, Togo fled from Elmina where they lived among the Fantes. They are believed to have been Israelites as well. They fled to Togo due to attacks by the Akan. They were later shipped out of Aneho and Benin during the trans-atlantic slave trade. There is much more that can be said and shown from history but, I will stop here. Visiting Togo and spending time studying Ewe/Ivr history will show that many Israelites are in Togo, Volta Ghana, Benin, and Western Nigeria. The strong concordance will even show that the original word for for HEBREW is Ewe/iVri is pronounced with a V instead of a W or b sound. Most of our brothers who are traveling to Africa and many in the US know this. However, I think that they are AFRAID to go to Benin and cry aloud and spare not. Many people in Benin are members of the tribe of Benjamin and Ouida/Juda is located right next to it on the first maps of Africa. To the left of them is the kingdom of Akanis (Akan). The Akanis raided the kingdom of Ouidah/Judah/Benin and traded Israelites to the West. So Yes, it was bound to happen due to our forefathers sins. However, we can not ignore the actions of the sellers (Akans, Northern Ghana tribes, some Nigerian tribes, African - Arab slave trade participants etc.) and only focus on the actions of the transporters (Ashkenazi's) and buyers (Western Nations) of Israel. ✌🏾💖🙏🏾

When I hear young people talking like that that of the caption I see nothing but ignorance. You cannot know better than your elders when it comes to traditions. Never .let us learn to respect our elders and what God is saying and doing through them. If you understand history and ancient worship and who God is you will understand our traditions . nothing is bad about them is just that you don't understand

Hi Sandra! Tell me, when did the first umbrellas appear on the "African Continent"? To this very day, I am almost sure that there are no umbrella factories anywhere on the continent of Africa. So where did the first Umbrellas come from on this continent? Who brought it Africans? and Why? Please do a little research, answer those questions, and we will both know the REAL history of the Ashanti and other African nations umbrellas. Shalom.

Portuguese don't even ve umbrellas like that stop fooling. Ashanties were way advanced, and yes ashanties were involved, but it wasn't a major roll. Infact most diasporans are not from ghana. Nd ashanties did not go to Nigeria to take any slaves stop lieing. Most slave ashanti sold were prisoners of war. Ashanties(akan) people where also major part of the liberation of Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad, Antigua. Etc Nd the only tribe that fought a 100 year war against the colonizers. We sold ourselves. Even ur ancestors did as well

Where u do u even trace ur bloodline to? Where ashanties responsible in selling ur ancestor? U also know that captured ashanties where also sold by other tribes right?

@YenkoAfrica Год назад
Your words display your ignorance, (lack of understanding and knowledge). Merely knowing your own language does not mean that you are WELL educated about your TRUE history. Concerning bloodlines and my tribe, I CAN trace MY TRIBE to the tribe of Judah, Benjamin, and the remnants of Levy. 😊 Your Bible AND Koran can prove it. Not only that, your beloved historians of every ethnicity and various nations have historical documents and relics to prove it. Even the first two maps of Africa prove that MY TRIBE came from NEGROLAND that included the Kingdom of Ouidah/Juda/Judah, the Kingdoms of Benini/Benjamin, and other locations within the of Guinea and Gold Coast. However, history also proves that MY TRIBE, Judah-Benjamin and remnants of Levy, made many stops along their migration from northern Africa. My GRANDMOTHERS name is a name that is found among NORTH Africans and common to MY TRIBE. Just like the Ewe and Guin tribes who are also Israelite. The Ane tribe of Elmina who are now in ANEho, Togo also fled the captivity of the Ashanti who sought to enslave them. Just like my tribe, they were NOT Ashanti. Please face your TRUE history. Ashanti's were a Mighty and more numerous warrior tribe. Although the Tribe of Benjamin were mighty warrior tribes, they were smaller and due to the SINS of MY people against OUR ELOHIM, it had already been determined that we would be captured, sold into slavery, and sent to the FOUR CORNERS of the earth. The prophecy was fulfilled. So listen, I will NOT allow you to turn this into a US against-Ashanti's war. That is your intent but I will NOT allow it. The truth about the Ashanti's involvement in the slave trade is out there for ALL to see, so just admit it and stop disgracing yourself by calling me a liar and denying your true history. Your words ALSO PROVE that YOU KNOW that WE ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE. LOL.🙄😂 If you thought that we were the same and that I was a descendant of Ashanti's or what you would consider to be REAL Africans sold into slavery, you would NOT have side-ways attempted to ridicule me about my identity and history. SELAH (Pause, think about it). Let us agree to admit that neither one of us can change our history. We can only TRY to take actions that impact our future in a way that prevents us from repeating the sins and mistakes of the past. The way that we can do this is to acknowledge and accept the truth. Ashanti's or any African, should take notes from MANY of the descendants of Nigerians that were involved in SELLING those we call Nigerians from OTHER tribes (Israelites). They have no problem admitting their involvement. We don't even have to go to Nigeria, one of your own and respected ASHANTI chiefs in Ghana, has admitted and apologized for selling US into slavery ( www.RU-vid.com Jw2f7IRcTrM). I agree with what the Chief/King has said, except on the point that we were brothers and sisters. We may have over the years intermarried with SOME Ashanti's and were therefore living peacefully as brothers and sisters until the OPPORTUNITY was presented to earn trinkets such as umbrellas, liquor and education from those nations that bought and enslaved ISRAELITES. However, we were NOT of the same tribes/nation of people. (Look at the Anglican priest from Elmina that is celebrated today. He became and Anglican priest and the brother traveled to Europe and became a Lawyer, as a NEGOTIATED TRADE for ISRAELITES,) You mentioned the Ashanti war. TRUE, there was an Ashanti-European war. However, that was to prevent the European captivity OF ASHANTI'S and the Ashanti kingdom. That war was NOT over the selling of ISRAELITES from the tribes of Judah, Benjamin and even GAD, those who you call Ewes, Guin and may even include the Ga's. The TRUTH is often hard to accept let alone admit by those who do not love it. However, the TRUE history of the Ashanti's is that they dominated this region militarily in what is presently called Ghana and very FEW Ashanti's were captured or sold into slavery. The truth is that the Ashanti's captured and SOLD ISRAELITES to EUROPEANS and AMERICANS and were FULLY involved in the triangle slave trade. Any Ashanti captured and sold were probably rebelling against the raiding, capturing and selling of neighboring tribes. Ghana has the largest, most modern and most preserved slave ports that they call castles because of Ghana's HEAVY involvement and their cooperation with Europe and America in the selling of ISRAELITES! The same is true of members of northern Ghana tribes who sold other Northern tribes AND ISRAELITES to the ARABS during the ARAB slave trade. The pits that they dug and held them in, are STILL in the north to this day. Try to go and visit them and see for yourself. They are the same kind of pits that JOSEPH was placed into by his brothers to be sold to the Arabs/Ishmaelites (their cousins) or to the Midianites their neighboring tribes. Enough said, I would only suggest that you as an Ashanti, learn to love and accept the truth about your TRUE history. Shalom

If you are a descendant of the trans-atlantic slave trade and other captivities of Israelites, you are not a Christian, you would be an Israelite. Israelites were first "called Christians" at Antioch. Christianity is a religion. Israelites are a people, whose God, many gentile nations seek to worship. If you are not an Israelite, you are of a gentile nation that has converted to Christianity, a religion which attempts to emulate the practices and way of life of the Israelites. Gentiles can be saved if they obey. ✌🏽

As the ancestor of both an enslaved woman of unknown ethnicity ( I suspect Hausa) & her Akan owner. Yes it continued on the continent as well as spreading across the diaspora I was told by modern day Akans that it’s taboo to discuss how they sold those prisoners mainly of war societal outcasts and those befallen by some economic misfortune of the times. I was told in secret that the children of enslaved women could rise in Akan society and sometimes the women themselves depending on ethnicity but not to discuss it. Historically in world terms it isn’t unique but it doesn’t make it less painful. Pharos were enslavers with umbrellas.

Hello Wakai. Thank you for viewing and commenting. No problem. We are all learning and sharing what we have learned with others. Hopefully, others like yourself will learn and make the necessary changes. I am a descendant of those scattered to the four corners of the earth via the trans-Atlantic slave trade, BUT due to the sins of our forefathers, it was/is also necessary for us to acknowledge and repent to be released from the judgment invoked upon us by our ancestors' sins against the Most High. I pray that YAH will release and bless persons like yourself who acknowledge, renounce, and make a whole-hearted effort to rectify the sins of their forefathers and release them from the judgment invoked upon them by their forefathers' actions. Thank you again for commenting. YAH bless you! 🙏🏾✌🏾

Please do your research before making nonsensical videos. Do you know the Ashanti were also sold in the transatlantic trade. Explain how European design and develope umbrellas....

First of all, let me remind you of what was stated in this video. This presentation is not against Ashanti's. It is about a tradition rooted in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and how it is a sore reminder to those who know the history of Africans and Europeans trading umbrellas, wine and other trinkets for Israelite/enslaved persons. Second, if I present something, I have already researched it. In denying the Ashanti role in the trans-Atlantic slave trade, you deny the words of repentance given by your own Ashanti King; visit the RU-vid channel, Kha-Nu nation, and look for the video, "2018 African leader apologizes for selling us into slavery...we want land in Africa". After watching that video, tell me if the King/Chief is lying? You can do your own research/googling. You will find that not only did African Kings, including the Ashanti's who participated in the slave trade, exchange Israelites/slave trade victims for umbrellas, wine, and trinkets, they requested red/burgundy umbrellas to signify power and being the most influential king. Ashanti's still make Kente Cloth and have factories that do so to this day. If they made the modern umbrella before colonialism, where are the Ashanti umbrella manufacturing companies today? Why are the umbrellas sold in Ghana all imported? It doesn't take much research/google searching to find the true history of the modern-day umbrella. If, before the trans-Atlantic slave trade, the Ashantis were already in possession of the modern-day umbrellas or parasols as depicted in the photos, more than likely, it came from the Arab slave trade. The Arab slave trade also occurred in modern-day Ghana and surrounding regions. You can find historical documents confirming the information that I shared in this video. Many people take the "white man's" word as if it is from God on other issues; why not accept it as such when they present evidence of the Ashanti's and other Africans' participation in the slave trade? One of the great things about some people from the Nigerian tribes that sold Israelites/Trans-Atlantic enslaved people on this issue of African participation in the slavery trade is their willingness to admit their guilt and regret for their willful participation in these terrible acts. Humble yourself and do a little research. We can not prevent the wrongs of the past or correct the errors of today if we do not admit them.

Informative teaching, but you forget to mention that the Akan, Asante and Ashanti had matriarchs, the Queen ruled and the King or Chiefs as you like to say were figure heads. I also watched the program when the renowned black Historian Henry Louis Gates Jr. conducted his DNA journey. There was also a movie that came out which tried to portray the Queens of the Dahomey tribes as liberators of the slaves from the Europeans slave traders, instead of a highly militaristic society constantly organized for warfare; and engaging in wars and raids against neighboring nations which sold captives into the Atlantic slave trade in exchange for European goods such as rifles, gunpowder, fabrics, cowrie shells, tobacco, pipes, and alcohol. These actions continue today with the elite African American culture, for profits and status, in my opinion.

All traditions that dont align with the word of Yah must go. Its just worth it keeping these types of traditions. In my native Cameroon there are many traditions that people practice that are frankly evil and when i speak with people they will sometimes admit to it but continue it. Many of this is spiritual.
