After the war. With trillions dead and entire sector turned into Chaos nest, a lone administrator from Terra found a lost decree parchment in the wrong section of the archive. "Oh, looks like Astral Claws don't have to pay taxes until further notice. That's good for them."

For context, a stellar fragment is part of the iron core of a dying star, thrown out its death throes. This results from iron being unable to fuse further in the center of the star, so this core becomes incredibly dense. So imagine a solid iron shell approximately 10% of the mass of a sun, thrown at a station.

So, when the tithe fleet in the first episode arrived and we got the "snippet" of transmission, they mention a "unidentified attacker" that blew theirs and the tithe fleet to smithereens, and then we have the incident with the Red Scorpions previous chapter master and his death. It would be absolutely hilarious if the first attack was done by chaos forces, trying to push their agenda of instigating a war between the Badabb sector and the Imperium, while the second incident was caused by the inquisition, wishing to continue the war. It's even worse that it is entirely plausible, having the inquisition and chaos forces involuntarily joining efforts to achieve the same goal!

The minotaurs had a field day in this war, more than one.

The finale of the true definition of the Imperium causing its own problems

Yep. Executioners and Charcharadons bodied each other so much that the description on that excerpt Shy said was "space marine body parts were everywhere".

I didnt see this mentioned, but it is worth noting that the Carcharodons were awarded a homeworld post Badab War by the Imperium. I believe it was the Mantis Warriors old homeworld.

If I remember correctly, the orbital bombardment wasn't directed at the City on Galen, (the only city on the planet which is rather important for the remaining plan. ) as much as the outlying area just outside the city, like "all..." of it and it was in these craters that the Medusan's started their great work. Aka turning it into another mini-Vraks, only it took like 4 weeks(?) and "most" of the guns point inward. It was those trying to escape the encircled city or daring to attack them, that got the cut downs. Which to varying degrees were the ones they were going to have to shoot anyway. They even put up big speakers, going "stay inside."...blaring such 24/7. The Medusan's put in all the bells and whistles of the assignment while doing their own brand of Night Lords psyche shattering, as they were building a prison wall. Malicious compliance at its top notch. When they got around to taking the remaining city, they just walked in the front door without firing a shot. The Inquisition took one look at the end result, and went.. "Well we now have a perfect prison planet. Woohoo!" In short, its less they nuked a farm, which they humorously did, yet again, as much as paved paradise and put up a parking lot full of guns. In truth the Firehawks only "started" the trend of nuking farms, that happened a lot....

Billions upon billions dead, an Astartes Chapter fallen into Chaos, and a section of the galaxy ruined forever just because Huron didn't want to pay his damn taxes.

So this half crippled man who needs daily bubble baths and lost to a line captain is somehow supposed to beat the walking suit of plot armor called Abaddon?

This episode's true name should be "Badab War 3: Khymaran Drift", the hit sequel to "Badab War" and "Badab War 2: Badab Harder".

Even the “Tyrant of Badab” knew a bad deal when he saw one. Which makes him more intelligent than every single chaos Primark. Never turn to chaos kids. That’s how you get tentacles coming out of your face.

In summary, the Imperium destroyed millions of lives, and lost countless of Astartes, ruining an entire sector, because they had a disagreement with one chapter master. The Imperium is just his worst ennemy sometimes ^^'

Badab war is a textbook example of what a mirror match always ends up being. Boring as balls fights with very interesting reasons for why they happen

The Carcharodons are heavily suggested to be Raven Guard successors, specifically successors from the original, Terran marines who were effectively exiled by Corvus Corax when he was introduced to his Legion. Before Corvus Corax, the Raven Guard were much more like the Night Lords in their way of waging war. So the Carcharodons are unlikely to be Night Lords, as there is a LOT pointing to Raven Guard.

Fun Fact the Maelstrom also didn’t have any Chaos corruption before or during the War so Hurrion was correct in it could’ve been cleaned/secured for the Imperium

Can we talk about the sons of Medusa and the hectic events behind their founding?

It's weird that 40k wants every character of note alive in the current day, earlier works often had definitive deaths for a character and their last stand was a known battle. That shit was inspiration to fight the battle and see if you can change history or repeat it on the tabletop, the setting is inspiration for the games, and instead lately it's been treated like a TV series where characters have to keep returning in X era.

I think this shows that the Imerium serves Chaos just as faithfully as the Chaos tainted. That the machine of government in the Imperium is so flawed that the only reason Chaos hasn't won is because that would actually be counter to the needs of Chaos. The Imperium limps along on sufference.

There is a pretty out there theory that the Minotaurs are actually thunder warriors, that some Highlord of Terra had created and armed as space marines and that's why they are so loyal to the Highlords.

Stellar Fragments are pieces of the Iron Core of a star that are launched into deep space during supernovae. Basically a planitoid/moon sized chunk of molten, radioactive Iron.

I don't know how many books there are based off of them but I would love to hear about any major historical combat involving the tyrannids.

Note: The Charcharadons managed to mentally break a Dark Eldar once. It that doesn’t tell you how brutal they are, I don’t know what will.

Small note, the Carcaradons where told to basically take care of the power plants, buuuuuuuuuuut they made the mistake of not being specific on HOW to take care of it, they parked their ancient Battle Barge literally on top of the planet's main power plant, and unleashed a dark age of technology weapon called THE PLASMA DESTRUCTOR, that dropped the equivalent of plasma based magma bombs on the power plant, that was connected to the planet's main thermal vents, effectively turning Badab Primaris into a time bomb.

I love the Sons of Medusa, they’re freaking loot goblins. Even more so then other Space Marines other then the Blood Ravens. They love yoinking tech and anything shiny. They’re also really good friends with the Mechanicus.

IIRC the main inquisitor for the Badab War had his own strong theory in his personal records re: why that truce meeting got attacked. He suspected a false flag by HURON, and that one of the biggest motives was to give the MANTIS WARRIORS (and other secessionists who'd been pushing for peace) motivation to keep fighting. After all, the death of their chapter master made them do a 180 and be super dedicated to the war.

The generals running away on the brink of death mirrors the tabletop game. If your Robot Girlyman model loses a game he's not dead he just ran away and will be all healed up for the next game.

Fun fact: the symbol of the Star Phatoms is the icon of the Dreadwing While both they and the Dark Angels deny that the Star Phantoms are DA successors, their symbol is the symbol of the Dreadwing; One of the original six wings of the Dark Angels legion. They were essentially the war crime division. They had a crap ton of weapons from the dark age / old night and it kind of went insanely hard. My biggest hope is that now that the Lion is back, he will re form the Dreadwing.

Also at the end of the day this imperial "victory" would cost them dearly, because not only did multiple chapters get badly damaged, but it would directly lead to the formation of the second largest chaos warband behind the Black Legion. When Guilliman started the Indomitus Crusade, the Mantis Warriors were one of the very few Chapters to NOT receive immediate Primaris recruits to supplement their ranks, cited reason being their crimes during Badab War. Still, while not receiving immediate reinforcements, they were given the same Primaris package as the rest, so they should have a change to eventually rebuild. I do not know if the Lamenters share the same punishment.

the pale skin and dark eyes are both a characteristic of the Raven Guard and Night Lords, so the leading theory is the Terran born Raven Guard who Corvax exiled, or Night Lords. The Raven Guard in question were pro-slavery and did not like stealth so they didn't get along with Corvax.

Huron Blackheart's right side is all Bionic now. So in the 40k sense, he has a peg leg, a hook for a hand and an eye-patch. Just your typical pirate lord.

The Fire Hawks did actually throw a piece of a star thanks to the Mechanicus of Angstrom.

A bit more info for those interested in the heresy setting/ imperial fists: The Executioners are 3rd founding and descended from the yellow boys favorite angry double axe man, Fafnir Rann. Hes one of the more known captain characters in the heresy. Very cool mini too.

Huron' hand wasn't forced. He was so arrogant and full of himself he believed he new better than the Administratum where forces needed to be destrubuted throughout the galaxy. And when the High Lords ignored his petty ass, he threw a tantrum, pulled a coup, and then mutinied against the Imperium.

Huron's fall to Chaos is pretty much IMMEDIATE after he left Badab Primaris a broken man though. Coming out of that, the dude was insanely jaded and ready to just raise hell. Not to mention, when he's fleeing from the Imperium at that point, there's only one place he could realistically go: the Maelstrom. So yeah, he's essentially a Chaos Lord in all material after this.
