Man, these old school movies were really a choreographic and cinematic marvel! I would watch 12 hour block marathons when I was a kid! Loved every single minute!
This is the stuff my generation spent Saturday afternoons in front of the tv for. We would actually break away from playing outside to spend the next two hours for. Watching martial arts flick like this was worth it.
Flying swordsmen and Invincible Monks. For those of us who grew up during this era outside of the West, this was the Marvel/DC universe of our time. Westerners used to laugh at the ridiculous wire work and "impossible" action back then. But if you just take a look at the spandex underwear wearing comic book super heroes in western films doing martial arts choreography today and you can see the old Wuxia movies of the 70s and 80s were way ahead of their time.
All you punk kids are growing up watching Cobra Kai. Slick production, great acting, etc. When I was a kid we had the original Karate Kid sure, but before that we just had Ninja movies and stuff like this! haha, I still LOVE it.
Kids have to find things the same way we once did though. I didn't immediately find these films, these films eventually found me. I understand what you're trying to say though. Things are indeed very different.
Yu Kin Wah until this day we are crazy about these movis in jamaica . here are a list of some of the stars. John Liu from snuff Bottle Connection , jackie Chang Delung Tam Carter Wong Meng Fei & Casanova wong & the legendary Angela Mao .
Especially that horseshit from korea. All they know is "kick, kick, kick" and put together with a laughable plot, they think that makes a movie. They are the shame of asia.
MISSING SATURDAY AFTERNOONS WITH KARATE FLICKS!!!! NOW YOU CAN'T FIND 1 ON A SATURDAY, UNLESS YOU HAVE A FIRESTICK, DVD's.... THOSE WERE THE GOOD OL' DAY'S!!!
Nice mask! I was fortunate enough to get a pic with Lu Feng (Luther Chu) aka the Centipede (Pupil #1) at the 40th anniversary of The 5 Deadly Venoms. I am actively seeking the Snake (#2), the Scorpion (#3), the Lizard (#5), and of course the Toad (#5). Poison Clan Brother, I can pay you 10,000 tails for any information. Lol. One love Brother. Shaolin Intruders is one of my favorites but I definitely don't recall seeing it in my childhood. Blessings to all!
"Ayiyiyiyiyi! Shaolin Invaders are at it again! Go Green Ranger!" Tommy: "I need Pai Mei Invincible Armor Five Deadly Venoms Dragonzord power Now!" *cue music and Moo Goo Gai Pan creature + Twice Cooked Pork rising up from a bowl to rescue him*
Notice when they fight, they take a small pause after each strike. Possible explaination might be that, although they're fast, the human eyes are not as fast, therefore they take a small pause to observe and figure out the next move.
yes i agree. Shaolin vs Lama is one of my favorite. Although there is no way Yao Fae Lin should of been able to defeat grand master even with the so called stolen book for 10 years
Kung Fu movie at it's best best best you will like every moment of it . Among the best Kung Fu movies from Shaw brothers studios , Phillip ko is super good
most of the shaw brother fight scenes are done inside of a square- the inside perimeter of a large house or so. its because they filmed it inside a studio.
Is it just me or does the guy with the sword seem similar to one of the three storms from "big trouble in little China" in looks as well as his fighting style.
