I've had the 2½" Jones bar on my Trek 920 for 5 years now. Ridden it all over the U.S. I love it.

I found that Keep Pedalling in Manchester stock Jones loop bars. I drove there from Suffolk with my bike in the car and they fitted them that day. Nice people, great service. That was a year ago and yesterday I bought the Jones loop bar specific bag which is already on its’ way. Incidentally, I got the Jones bars as I found that riding on the brake hoods of my (then) new gravel bike flared drops was impossible owing to pain from my basal thumb arthritis. I’d not ridden with drops for years. There’s little to be said for getting old! For me the new bars were even more transformative than for other converts as I had, and continue to have, no hand pain. That Jones fellow knows stuff.

What a great comment. Good to see someone else stocks the bars as I could only find Bothy Bikes. I’ve actually just had delivery of the standard H-loop without the 2.5 inch of rise so I can maybe do a comparison. I found the ones in the video were to ‘upright’. But, yes, they are very comfy bars. Also, I think you’ll like the bag you have on order. Great set up.

Always prop a bike by it's back wheel, choose the front end and 50% of the time you'll be picking it back up again. Another great vid...many thanks.

Or if its not too heavy (which lets face it, mine usually are), lay it down.

Great review. I have a Jones 29-plus Ti Spaceframe with the Carbon loop bars. The carbon are more expensive but have a little flex for comfort. I also have Jones padded bar tape on the on the inter part of the loop, from stem out which adds a cushioned upright close hand position or forearm cushion when leaning aero on the front of the loop. Jeff Jones has some great videos on his bars and makes a wonderful, comfortable and stable bike. Thanks

That is one thing I do want to add, is tape onto other areas of the bars. I often find myself moving hand to other areas and some padding would be great. Thanks for the comment - I’ll try that.

Jesus that looked cold... Regards, an expat who emigrated from Blighty in 2003 for somewhere warmer...

It's all relative I guess. Just been watching people is Alaska on fat bikes in the snow. THATS cold. Minus 2 deg C here this morning. Hoping for some cold this weekend and a short overnight trip, so hopefully a video out soon after months off.

I was contemplating bars like those but a little pricey and looked at Geoff bars by Planet X. My concern was comments on forums indicating it may be necessary to replace cables to give extra length compared to flat bars. My skills are not good! Went with a compromise of Mary bars from Planet X and so far I am pleased. Clearly, you had no difficulty in switching from flat to Jones.

Now those look interesting and better value for money potentially. I looked at a few different makes, but not those. Quite long, but I cant see why there would be a problem with cable lengths unless the cables were already cut relatively short. The brake levers are set up against the joint. I certainly had no issues with mine but now kinda annoyed I didn’t look closer at the Geoff bars. I’m converted to 45 deg sweep now. Thanks for the comment.

Jones bars are made in Taiwan. Possibly by the same factory that makes the On One Geoff bars, and a plethora of other brand's bars. Order 200, and have your name laser etched on.... Enjoyed the vlog.

Your bike (trek 1120 plus riser Jones loop bars) is a dream set up of mine so you've earned a subscriber for that alone😉. Enjoyed your review and look forward to more of your uploads. I use Geoff bars; I've found them a game changer for versatility and comfort for on and off road riding. I didn't need to get new cables to install them and that was with using a riser stem too.

Cool, thanks. Another vid out in a couple of hours. The Trek is a xool bike, but the bars help enormously. Did look at the Geoff bars and they look extremely similar. Cant think why I chose Jones....maybe the rise? Anyhoo, thanks for subbing.

Awesome review. Do you like having the 2.5” rise or would you recommend going with there zero rise loop bar?
@badgersbikepacking4138
@badgersbikepacking4138 Год назад
Matthew, I now have both. Started with the 2.5" rise, which for my setup gave a very upright position. So much so that I think it put too much weight on my butt. It was like riding a butchers bike or an old lady shopping bike. Guess it depends on the bike geometry. So I accepted defeat and now have the zero (or I think 0.5" technically) rise bars, which for this set up feels better. Less weight on the butt and overall a nicer feel to the ride. So, id judge what you need for your setup based on what you already have. I thought the upright position would be nicer, but was wrong.

@@badgersbikepacking4138 thank you so much for the info and sharing your experience. I’ll go for the 0.5 on my bike.

Great video, have you made any videos on your bike packing equipment? Like tent, stove, sleeping equipment always interesting to see what people are using.

Hi Andrew. I have made some generic cook and accomodation video, but not on my own kit. If people are interested then Ill do it over the next couple of months. Thanks for the feedback. Watch this space 😉

What about aero positions in the wind?
@badgersbikepacking4138
@badgersbikepacking4138 3 года назад
I did try that, briefly, but I found it really unstable. You can purchase a single ‘tri position’ pole which I think they call the unicorn or something like that to help get into an aero position.
@czechnolike
@czechnolike 3 года назад
@@badgersbikepacking4138 what do you think of that game pole?

Are you talking about the unicorn bar? I dont have one. Id prefer a set of tribars but im not sure they would fit.
