The recent protest by the residents of Badlapur, Maharashtra, highlights a deep-seated frustration that resonates with many Indian citizens. The issue at hand is not just about a single incident but reflects a broader concern about the state of justice in our country. The prolonged and often agonizing wait for justice, coupled with the uncertainty of whether the culprits will be held accountable, has led to a widespread sense of insecurity and disillusionment. The reality that justice in India can take decades to be served, even in fast-track courts, is troubling. This delay not only erodes public confidence in the judicial system but also forces many ordinary people to accept their suffering as a lesser evil compared to the long and costly pursuit of justice. The spectacle of politicians, accused of financial misconduct, securing bail and celebrating as if exonerated further exacerbates this issue. It sends a disturbing message that the wealthy and powerful can manipulate the system to their advantage, leaving the common citizen feeling helpless. As someone who has witnessed more than ten elections over the years, it's disheartening to observe that none of the political parties have ever prioritized the improvement of judicial facilities in their manifestos. Despite the numerous promises made to attract voters, the critical issue of ensuring timely justice for the public has been consistently overlooked. This neglect has, in turn, emboldened those who exploit the system, further undermining the rule of law. It is imperative that all political parties and leaders take this issue seriously. As we approach upcoming elections, I humbly request that a commitment to faster justice be included in their manifestos. This is not just about restoring faith in our constitution but also about ensuring that justice is accessible and timely for all citizens. Addressing this issue is crucial for the health of our democracy and the protection of our society from those who seek to operate above the law. Please consider this as a matter of urgent concern, and let us work together to create a system where justice is not just a distant hope but a guaranteed right for every Indian citizen.
