Looking forward to see this on a video doing some live action drills against a range of targets. Well done on producing such a autonomous vehicle.
@atacms2020
@atacms2020 21 день назад
The word autonomous is consistently used in the video, but if I'm not mistaken; the proper term is REMOTELY OPERATED. Why? Well can this vehicle go from Pt. A to Pt. B, without a remote driver having to constantly baby sit where the vehicle goes and where it shouldn't go? This is the real requirement where militaries need help, TRUE autonomous pathfinding behavior.

Same with the Indians, when I was working in Saudi back 2012 I asked a worker to get a pail of water. They can't understand me. Terns out they use the word "bucket". Probably a language thing and they really mean remote.

All places that benefit from the type of "autonomy" I assume they're talking about. Autonomy in less planned/stable environments needs some compelling demonstrations. I suspect we're not at "get that sniper!" level yet.

It probably doesn't - but for this v1.0 they said they tore everything out from their existing crew carrier. Less expensive way to build/market-test the idea.

I would like to see investment in unmanned vehicles for fire fighting service. All terrain land vehicles to support fire fighters and perform more hazardous missions. With air craft for water bombing and coordination of assets. More nations are confronted with bush fire/wild fire/grass fires threats through their dry seasons than ever before. Australia, New zealand,USA,Canada,South American countries, South African countries and increasingly countries in Europe such as Spain and Greece. With so many countries having to create rural fire fighting service's similar to Australia, USA and Canada this market would be worth many billions of dollars. Unmanned Fire fighting equipment would help protect both the "firey's" and the communities they are tasked with defending.
@untubus
@untubus 21 день назад
I guess the need for being unmanned is far less, as fires don't shoot at firefighters. But yes, it would be great to see constructive efforts to introduce autonomous vehicles and equipment to save staff in civilian contexts too.

@nuclearwaste002
@nuclearwaste002 22 дня назад
It is a positive, it means it can be used in a more aggressive manner without risking personnel being killed. This obviously isn't designed to replace troop transports but work alongside them. If this means less soldiers in harm's way and more support for those that are, how is that not a positive?

@silentblackhole
@silentblackhole 3 дня назад
But what does it do after that entire spiel? I still have no clue what it's actually meant to do It's an infantry fighting vehicle without the infantry. If it doesn't have to carry people, then why is it so big? Weapon system manufacturers always talk in a weird double speak.

A remarkable vehicle on paper, I would like to see how it performs when put through its paces and battle tested. My concerns are the impact of rapidly advancing electronic warfare that we see muting drones in Ukraine. My other concern is the level of autonomous capability given this is an unsolved problem and the uncertainty of terrain and battlefield landscapes and environments are infinite how well does it cope with these, can it distinguish friend from foe autonomously? Finally, what is the cost and manufacturing speed and volume? If we need to ramp up to the vehicle replenishment levels we see in the Ukraine war, do we have the budget, supply chain and manufacturing capacity to meet that demand? A will note that a $100 drone manufactured by the 10's of thousands using 3d printed parts can take out a 9 million dollar armoured vehicle.

all it takes is a 5 year old boy with a can of spray paint to climb that thing and cover the camera lens, all of them. That was the main reason the US mil. did not have much success with armed drones on the ground when engaging ISIS back in the late 2000s. Every time you see ISIS traveling the country side with a 4-6 year old boy in tow you know it's them.
