Hey Rob, definitely a micro O. I used to look for those. I remember as a teenager finding one in with a dealers flipped barber dimes who didn't check for varieties. Paid like $4 for it and sold for around $50. I've also sniped one or 2 on ebay over the years. That was a great bag with the capped busts!
Yooo rob what’s up man! Always awesome to see you upload again my man! I love silver hunts, and love watching you hunt em! Hopefully you got some Amazing stuff my man
Great video Rob!! Love watching these junk silver videos I always learn something new when I watch them. Man I do wish that I had an LCS near me. The closest one is 3 hours away.
A great selection of old constitutional silver brother. So much history in the bag. I’d have gladly paid that as well. Absolutely amazing. One day I hope to score some capped bust coins myself. Only a few seated in my collection but it’s a start. Great video ❤️🔥💯🇺🇸
Wow, what a great lot! Imagine, back in the day, people were taki g them out of their pockets to pay for stuff and prob. getting change back! Great vidie Rob, thanks as always for your wonderful content! TKe care & Happy Hunting, Stephen
That was a sweet junk silver bag. Mine always seem to have a bunch of coins from the 1960s in them with the occasional severely beat up older coin thrown in.
Premium? I only pay 97% of spot for this type of junk silver. That's all the dealer is going to get for it anyway when he sends it in to be melted. Only difference is that I pay cash whereas the company sends him a check.
@@ronanjones4189 Anywhere they send it to. These silver melters are not going to pay spot price for truly junk silver (including dateless, almost unidentifiable coins) which, after the refining process, they can sell for only slightly over spot.
Those capped bust half dollars definitely make up for the slick SLQs and the Washington. I recently got my first capped bust dime and it's really nice compared to other early American designs
I heard $470 and I was like whaaaaat? That's too much. Then I noticed the eagle on the back of the capped bust half dollar and was like, ok....maybe he did ok. Lol. I never even heard of a 1905 micro O barber. That's awesome. Even I only ever had 2 capped bust halves. One 1812 and a pricey 1830 large letters.
Wow. Just wow. Those capped bust coins were incredible for a junk silver purchase!! I think the value of those almost paid for everything. The dateless SLQ's were a bummer, but overall, I would have been very happy with that purchase. And, another great video!
Bro 23x face for all that old stuff is a steal, you’ve got a pretty good connection to your wholesaler. My lcs still charges 22x face for washingtons and rosies lol.
So, what's the story on "junk" silver? Do you guys just keep trading them back and forth forever? Or does someone actually melt and refine the really crappy ones? Great video
I’m confused Rob. $470 for a small bag? 3x face. Is that silver, a general price, or combination of both? He is a trusted friend, so, he doesn’t cherry pick, just straight sales to you?
23x face - yes. It was $20.50 in face value x 23 = $470. I have bought from him for 4 years and he is mostly a silver and gold dealer, not a numismatic dealer so he doesn't buy/sell for numismatic values. He will pay up for high grade or key date stuff and then passes that cost on to a buyer but for low grade/cull stuff, he doesn't have the time with his volume.
Got a 1942 P war nickel in change today. It looks like a possible proof or has been polished… but the areas between the lettering and details are perfectly mirrored also… so I’m on the fence.
I just hit an absolute mother lode today, I got a 1905 s barber half in "very fine" condition from a bankruptcy auction. 13 quarters as well in BU, 1 barber quarter in XF, 3 three cent nickels, a two cent piece and some .999 silver dollar proofs.... Crazy to me that no one was bidding on the stuff. Nice haul you got yourself as well!
@@RobFindsTreasure I know! It was wild, everyone was bidding on end tables, bed frames, bicycles, etc...then the coin collection started and....crickets. I have a question as well, do you see any difference in the amount of silver you get out of rolls from local banks vs big banks? I have $500 worth of silver dollars coming from my local credit union, first time roll hunting and I have no idea what to expect.
Good luck selling that stuff for any great amount of money as most of those silver coins look pretty worn and worth little above their silver content. The guy who got $470 for that pile of junk I'm sure was quite contented with the transaction.
Hey Rob, Even though it's rough shape and might not get a straight grade, are you thinking of submitting the Micro O for grading? I'd consider it since it's not a variety you've found before and having one of sub 400 confirmed would be a pretty cool slab to have. Cheers!
@@RobFindsTreasure definitely helps for sure. Havving it slabbed, even with a Genuine- Cleaned designation would be pretty sweet to have. I mean, gotta be one of the rarest of the rare *confirmed* coins you've found on a video, even if it's more mintage than say a VDB or 50D.
Anytime I buy supposed "unsearched" rolls or bags the crooked auctioneers and/or their friends have gone thru them and picked the good stuff out? I hear over and over again that auctioneers are cautious of bidders and need to be protected from them? But tell me who protects up from the crooked auctioneers, and I have run into many?
The 1945-S Washington quarter did seem out of place in that batch...it would of been a different story if it were the first year 1932, especially a key date branch mint one.
