Haylage silo full, corn silo and two bags full. Just need your hi moisture corn and your beans combined and your harvest will be wrapped up. Stay after it. Amazing what you can get done if you get the weatherman to.cooperate.

Definitely a good crop year. Yeah I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery then having the weatherman cooperate!

Interesting video, nice explanation of the filling bag process. I get the wanting the silage at the right moisture for the seal store. Back when we fed high moisture corn out it the Harvestore, you didn’t want it much over 22%. Any wetter and you’d get some very nice water coming out when you ran corn out.

Pro tip, Bungie cord on steering wheel on the bagger tractor helps keep it going straighter for longer, still have to keep an eye on it if there is internal leaking in the steering ;)
@mikep7810

I did do that 1 year, however 4040 has a leak in the steering so it didn't do much

Interesting to watch a bagger work. We never bagged as we really don't have a great place to put a bag without making a great muddy mess. I'm familiar with Itty Bitty Farms. They produce nice stuff. I've gotten soaps as Christmas gifts for my mother and sister.

Thank you Tony. I've packed haylage in a bunk once at a neighbor's but we've never used a bunk silo. We still use the silos and only bag silage to feed in between cleaning out the silo and refilling it

May I suggest the next time someone is milling a road or parking lot that you try and get every load you can. They make a great and cheap pad to put the bags on and keeps you from mudding during the winter

@mikep7810
@mikep7810 2 года назад
We take them off our tractors. All the 3 point hitch arms are on a pallet in the shed. We don't have anything that is hooked up with at 3 point hitch so we take them off. That way they aren't banging back and forth and getting in the way
@clinthochrein888
@clinthochrein888 2 года назад
I like the “extension arm” for the pto lever. We tried bagging hayleage once end result was lot of mold spores from not packing in tight. The guy that brought it over never told dad we needed a high horse power tractor. We had the Massey Ferguson on the chopper an on the ag badger which is a 80 or 85 hp. Had it running at full power.
@mikep7810
@mikep7810 2 года назад
Thats too bad. We probably should have a little higher HP tractor on it but the 4040 seemed to handle it ok

Great job Mike! With the bags don't you have to let the gasses escape for a period of time before sealing it up? One of the few things I never got to do on the farm was silage.
@mikep7810
@mikep7810 2 года назад
I have heard that. In the past I just sealed it up the night I got done bagging. Never had an issue. I posted a video a few years ago and everyone yelled at me for not waiting for the gasses to escape. My buddy does the same thing I use to do. He sealed it up as soon as he filled it and never had an issue either

Do you get any spoilage? I always wondered if they were better
@mikep7810
@mikep7810 2 года назад
You get some. You gotta make sure its sealed up really good and packed pretty tight and spoilage will be a minimum. We had 1 year where the birds pecked holes all in the top of the bag so we got a lot of spoilage that year and another year we had animals digging into the side of the bag. As soon as air gets to a spot there will be spoilage there
