I'm just learning to play the Bagpipe and I find your channel very good and interesting. I also think it's great that you offer PDFs for download. I want to learn this song, I didn't know it and it's beautiful. I've definitely subscribed to you
Great lesson Matt! I started with a metronome this past week... tune is 6/8, but you’re using the setting 3/4 (quarter note)... I think. Can yo perhaps clarify the why? Just setting a quarter = eighth note... the “flash” of this app will happen 2x measure? Also... great sounding reed/chanter... do you have a link on setup (especially the reed). Outstanding effort/result here... well done!
3|4 can be useful when subdividing 6|8 (wanting to hear each eighth note as a click) as 3|4 give you an accented pulse (1) followed by two unaccented pulses (2 & 3). Depending on the metronome, 6|8 might just give you two beat per bar, as that's how it's normally counted/felt. If that makes any sense. Counting music is tough! The practice chanter is a 2001 MacLellan cocobolo currently with a Frazer reed.
Every "Answer Phrase" here is the "Wrong Answer" in my mind. The Ending Phrase is the "Correct Answer". Difficult tune to make this point as it doesn't resolve! Great video Matt!
Is there a mistake in part 3 of tune structure? There is “phrase 4 (question)” but in sheet music of the while tune there is no “phrase 4 (question)” in part 3.
