The posture "Peng" is one of the fundamental movements in Tai Chi Chuan and other Internal Martial Arts. Peng is often translated as "ward off" or "ward off energy" in English. It is a foundational concept in Tai Chi, representing the ability to repel or redirect force while maintaining a balanced and relaxed state.

Does your instructor have any videos on RU-vid? It'd be great to check them out!

In my understanding Peng is not a technique or posture or a form movement. At least in the small frame Chen style that I learn, it’s a movement prerequisite that has to be there in EACH movement.

Peng is both a state/quality of the body, yes. But it is also an applied energy/force, Peng Jin. It has a duality in its meaning.

@@KelGhu Not sure where you make the difference there, honestly. Peng jin is always applied, without peng jin there is no correct movement in Taijiquan. But maybe this is just a matter of words. I just wanted to say that in my understanding it’s not “look, here in the form, where I do this, this is called peng”. But again, this is probably just words.
