The statue is without clothes because he became a jain monk and renounced everything material including clothes of his body. And we worship him became we Indians respect the most not those who are the wealthiest but who have gone beyond all worldly things and become peaceful within.
Very true....he is a "digambar" which basically means "one for whom the sky alone is the garment". He doesn't need any earthly material possessions any more.
Absolutely right. Only those who have experienced it all, know the irrelevance of "material" (wealth) chase as a waste of time. The monumental statue stands tall to remind that absolute truth, but only an earnest seeker can understand it.
Thank u osr , for reacting on this ..I'm Jain I visited here , it's religious place of Jainism, people came here for worship and taking the healing power from Lord Bahubali Ancient Idol...
I'm half Jain and had been to the Mahamastabhisheka in the year 2006 when I was 9. The climb of 600 steps was tough, but worth it in the end. The moorti is so magnificent and mesmerizing. I also got the opportunity to do the abhisheka myself from the top of the moorti, which gave an idea of how tall it really is. You guys should visit their sometime, you won't be disappointed
They read title as monolithic, then when the narrator said from a single stone, Rick's jaw dropped. Monolithic means from a single stone and probably Rick is stoned!!
Bahubali swami was the first person to attain liberation even before his father, the first Tirthankara in Jainism, Rishabh Dev ji..He meditated motionless for a year in a standing posture and that during this time, climbing plants grew around his legs...you can see those vines in the statue's thigh as well
There are thousands of statues and huge buildings in the world, not only India (statues of the Resurrection Island, the pyramids of Egypt, the Tower of Pisa)...Find evolution in the present and let go of the past
@@انهاراوية if Muslims didn't invade India then today we would seen thousands of unbelievable out level architecture buildings, temples and other structures
I am jain, I have been to shravanbelgola in my childhood. The fact is that the real height of Bahubali was 4 times the height of statue. And still all monks of jains stay digambara(without clothes) whole life even in winters and do not sleep on bed and foam and dont take quilt and stuff, and take meal once in standing position in a day. And after after takingbone meal a day they dont even drinkn water after that(its called Tap and vairagya). And many more things in jainism which I cant explain in this single comment. And most important thing Ahinsa(Non-violence) is the main basic pillar of Jainism. And one more fact is that the time of God Bahubali was some lakhs years ago. Those who say that Indian civilizastion is from 10000 years is wrong its way(many years) before that. And one more fact, the age of God Bahubali is in lakhs of years. As the time passing the age(life span) of human being is decreasing. And 600 steps is just nothing, you shiuld react to Sammed shikhar(shikhar ji) and Girnar ji to know more about Jainism and about steps.
It is also the place where one of India's greatest emperors, Chandragupta Maurya spent his last days as a monk 2300 years ago. He abdicated his throne and became a Jain monk. Chandragupta Maurya was also the grand father of another great emperor, Ashoka
There are two Chandragupta, you are refering to the Chandragupta of Ujjain from Gupta dynasty. You can listen to Vedveer Arya and Sanjay Dixit discussing this in the topic of missing 1380 years of Indian history.
The problem is every tourist who arrive in India walk to Tajmahal. While the real beauty lies spread out in India . The temples in South India are architectural marvel . Some of the architecture technology in temples of Hoysala period and Vijayanagara period are still a mystery . Like the musical pillars , one temple in Lepakshi you will see the whole temple is connected to a pillar that does not rest on the ground . You can pass a cloth under this pillar , yet if one pillar is pulled the whole temple will collapse . The kailasha temple temple In Ajanta is carved from top down . They deserve to be among wonder ‘s of world as even today experts wonder how these were built and the techniques are unique .
It was great seeing this reaction. I am Jain, I visit this temple often, had also been to Mahamastak Abhishek which was held in Feb 2018. Jainism spread the message of love and non- violence.
One thing you guys missed is that ... the stone looks absolutely freshly carved it’s because of the abhishekam (pouring milk, turmeric, honey, etc.) which happens once in every 12 years
Shravanbelgola is one of the most peaceful, joyful and spiritual places of all. I visit and worship Gomtteshwar Bahubali swami once every couple of years. I feel blessed that I've participated in the Mahamastakabhisheka with my family in 2018 and also back in 2006. Gomatteshwara, Shikharji, Pawapuri, Tijara, Mahavirji, and so many more that I absolutely love with all of my heart and spirit. Namo Jinanam 🙏
I am Jain and visited Gomteshwar Bahubali in 2018 Mahamastak bhishek . It's magnificent. 🙏🙏🙏 One of the miracle of this statue is it does not cast any shadow. Scientists still can't find any proof for this fact.
12 years plays quite a significant role in Indian Culture (Jainism, Buddhism, Sanatana Hinduism) owing to Jupiter’s 1 year. Every 12 years, Jupiter comes back to the same orientation with respect to Earth, and is considered spiritually important. This is marked by Abhishekam as you just saw, and also significantly Maha Kumbh, world’s largest spiritual gathering that occurs every 12 years.
Oh god I have been to Mahamastakabhishek ceremony in 1994 & 2018 . So happy you reacted to this. The divine and peaceful feeling one gets at this place is just cannot be described. Jai Jinendra !! 🙏🙏
You should really watch a video on Kailashnath temple in Ellora, it is a temple carved out of a single rock and is dedicated to bhagwan shiv. It is a world heritage site but only a few people know about it because they are all busy in glorifying the things that invaders built
In Hinduism and Jainism 12 years make a Yug. So many events like the Kumbh mela or this one happen every 12 years. Also Parijat flower blooms every 12 years, which is considered a devine flower.
Hi... M jain too... This is magnificent place to visit..had been there.. awesome experience.... There are some of jain holy places u want to know like sammet sikhar in Jharkhand. Girnar in Gujarat , Mount Abu jain temples , Palitana in Gujarat... It's ancient religion .. do explore abt it🙏
I visited this place once when I went to Hasan for my friends marriage...need to climb so many steps...but place will be awesome and statue can been from anywhere in the town... very nice place, beautiful, calm and so peaceful...
Proud to be a Jain.. React to jainism, you'll be amazed with the philosophy of jainism.. Non Creator god, infinite universe, karma theory, non violence, every soul has potential to become a God and many such concepts of jainism
Do you want to see Bamyan of India, go to Gwalior so many big Jain statues around 50 ft, destroyed by Baber, it is their history where they will go do things like that link given below ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-E-zYL8zixYQ.html
Statue of Unity is an oxymoron with the right wing govt when it's own elected representatives calls for hindu rastra. Even Sardar vallabhai patel on whom the statue is made would have not agreed for this huge waste of tax money in a state that is dominated by the govt, its policies and its people, having said that Sardar Vallabhai Patel was dead against RSS which the people in power now are made of
Jainism is one of the four sanatan dharamas( religions originated in India) along with Hinduism, Sikhism, buddhism, and jainism. Actually buddhism and jainism originated at the same time so they have lots of things in common.
Buddhism started with people following the Eight Noble Paths taught by Buddha. While, Mahavir who was a contemporary of Buddha was the 24th Thirthankara of Jainism. Jaininsm is an eternal dharma without any record of how ot started. And Sikhism isn't Sanatan ( in literal sense). Sikhism means follower of Guru Granth Sahib and has a founder. No doubt the Gurus words are always eternal
Jainism is an infinite religion.. bhagwan Mahaveer was last 24th Tirthankar of this half time cycle.. there have been infinite souls who have liberated.
I have been there I felt like I was going to faint while climbing the steps but the final result is worth it. Its beautiful cool serene and once you are up there you don't want to leave. The priests up there are so kind ready to offer water to people who are tired after the tough climb
I think any Human will need 2 or 3 lifetimes to visit all the hidden gems of India ! Literally every state has soo much heritage ! AND I FEEL PROUD TO BE FROM KARNATAKA ! Finally heard someone speaking in Kannada in a video....
One life of a man is a short period of time to know everything about whole India We Indian also don't everyghing about india But we proud ourselves that we are Indian I love my India ❤❤
Most of these religious events and periods such as 12 years are based on movements abd positions of various celestial bodies like planets, the sun and their cycle times etc. Similar to this, the mama kumbh gathering that can be seen from space also happens every 12 years.
In December 2020 I was at the feet of Lord Bahubali.... This is amazing. It was carved from top to bottom... 1 fun fact the index finger of left hand of the statue was kept short just to keep away evil eyes...
India is a golden bird sitting on a branch, and I always imagine, eagle trying to destroy the nest several times!!! But the bird will built the nest again and again!!
Hi guys, I am a Jain and did not knew about this but thanks to you guys now I learned something new today. I am a Swetamber whereas the video says Bahubali followed Digambar path of jainism, probably why I was not aware of him. But good to learn something new in the stupid family.😎❤️
As a human being born in particular religion, sometimes it is hard to gasp other religions. Swetamber Jainisism makes more sense to me than Digambar. No hard feelings for Digambar or any other religions though. I respect everyone even if I don't know much about them.
I'm born as a shwetambar Jain but I find the practice of digambar jainism more accurate . There are not many differences to be honest. Anyway proud to be Jain
Bahubali means one wit immense power in shoulders/ hands. Digambara - one who wears sky; this was a way to desensitise themselves from this cover called body and find it easy to just slip out of it when the time comes.
I think many people in the state of Karnataka also know about it. It has about 600 or more steps to reach the top. I was lucky enough to feel tired half the way but later not even a sign of being tired after I returned. I think I had rcvd the blessings.
even Chandragupta Maurya left everything and came to karnataka for meditation without food and water and gave his life.. I am proud to be born in india. please React to Salman Bodyguard song as a belated happy birthday of Salman Khan
You guys haven't yet visited to Tirupati Balaji Temple, ohh what a vibe it has. just after entering in the temple, you go in different world. So peaceful. By the way it is biggest temple and the most famous temple in India. And also People donate nearly 1billion$ every year in this temple. I will share a documentary below
I visit almost every year.. But now a days it is more of commercial place or money making place... No peace... Government has made it revenue making place...
Hi... I'm from the same jain community Digmbar jain ... toughest religios culture to follow in the world . Digmbar jain saint left everything even their clothes whatever the season
Jainism is one of the oldest religions in India and in fact in the world . The jain principle “ Live and Let Live “ symbolizes the way to love every creature on planet and live peacefully at the same time . It’s SIN to hurt anyone by words , deed or actions , even if it’s a human or a animal . Being the oldest religion, the jain monks even now help to spread the message of Non-Violence and love towards everyone with spirituality and daily worship and common practices . Jains constitute just 1% of India’s population but it’s one of the most important and famous religions and also the most ancient of all times .
Recently another statue of sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was built, making it the tallest statue in the world. Don't know what good it brings to us. So stupid. They could've spend that money to help the poor and needy instead.
India has greatest sculpture ever build. with immense detail and perfection. and they are ancient too..i am always amazed how did they do it without any modern equipment's
I was 6 month old when I done Abhishek there then in 2018 again I visited there n done abhishek.......it's in my bucket list.......and Rick n korbine this granite stone is not present near 100 km so definitely they brought it up there and carved.
Edit your comment.. religion without a Creator* Jainism has God infact there are infinite gods and even samsaari beings like us have a potential to become a God.. God in jainism is someone who has destroyed all his karmas and achieved liberation.
I m proud to be a jain....i m am very proud of my religion, proud to be born in india, our religion is not that famous in the world because we are less in no. but our religion is very deep and it has alot of teachings for mankind....i wish to make my religion recognizable world wide one day....
That's our God and you are seriously insulting him without knowing about it Please do pay respect to our traditions . I am seriously disappointed, just an advice from me to do a bit research before doing such videos 🙏
Ajanta and Ellora go there when you are in India. Ellora sculpted from a mountain of granite I think, started at top. How was it possible to chisel away thousands of tons of stone. There is no other place like it, one in Ethiopia, Laliblla made the same way, but not as intricate carvings.
It seems the 'Abhishekam' every 12 years, done with specific substances (with specific chemical properties) helps preserve the integrity of the granite statue. The statue looks pristine, but the nearby structures (made from same stone) are weathered and worn.
Statu was build by Chandragupta Maurya's follower in his memory to spred the message of peace. Further Chandragupta Maurya become jain in his last days
He was meditating while standing for such a long time that creepers grew around his legs. That is why you see the creepers around the statue. Yogis like him could stay without eating/sleeping/pissing/shitting for months together. Most do it while sitting, but Gomateshwara did it while standing.
The reaction is incomplete without narrating the story of Lord Bahubali. Please refer wiki: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahubali So, finally elder brother Bharat and younger brother Bahubali had a duel in 3 different skills. In all three, Bahubali won. Finally Bharat fired the Amogh chakra on Bahubali with intention to kill him, but the chakra revolved around him and returned. Seeing this act of Bharat, Bahubali decided to renounce his kingdom and become jain monk. After many years he attained moksha, so he is worshipped as Lord Bahubali and his elder brother is not. BTW on the opposite hill, there is half desecrated statue of Bharat, which no one even recognises. This story if further polished for Tollywood and Bollywood, then it would take shape of movies like Bahubali.....please check and review again...
There no specific related to 12 according to religion. But yes like today we use decimal(10) system , in ancient India they use 12 as base number. We called 12 year as tapa. Many Hindu pilgrims follows 12 year cycle for example kumbha.
