I hope that the 17 year old girl keeps doing her thing. She did a good job to still be in school for it. The price was also fair. He paid a 3rd of the price and complaining about small details. I wouldn’t want to be friends with him after not wanting to pay my daughter for her work.

The Defendant is an opportunist. His gamble didn’t pay off.. so instead of owning it, you screw a friend and his kid over. Good riddance and lesson learned for the Plaintiff!

The defendant was a jerk. He got exactly what he paid for and if he wanted to sell the bus for $50k he should have paid the $9k to get it professionally painted.

He hired a 17 year old to paint a large bus knowing she's not a professional and thinks he has a right to withhold payment? Not cool at all. He shouldn't have expected a professional job from a child.

The bus actually looked decent . Whoever is going to buy it, for sure is going to paint it again anyways and add their logo . So it was painted good enough to sell in my opinion .

With friends like the defendant, who needs enemies? The plaintiff presented his case very well with necessary evidence. Defendant/friend appeared clueless as to what prep was needed before starting paint job. Judge Milian's reaction when she saw the 'after pictures' was priceless. Good case and congratulations to the plaintiff for winning against his cheapskate 'friend'.

Well done on the plaintiff for taking all the photos and being well prepared. I'm also glad his price was not exaggerated, it was reasonable for what he promised to deliver.

I almost wonder if defendant didn't intentionally look for a reason to bail on payment. And I can't help but notice the judge never really addressed the counter suit, particularly never asking for an estimate or if defendant had already had the work done. I don't think she believed his story about the do-over.

Well done to the young woman for taking up a spray painting position. I use to have a boyfriend who did that and his work clothes use to stand upright when he took them off after work. it's very hard work. the defendant was a greedy guy, what did he expect.

I think he did a pretty good job, apart from the overspray the bus looked pretty good. And there’s gloss that u can use to get the bus shiny if that’s his problem. Pay the man and his daughter.

This is a clear case of, Whenever a client starts telling what they want and how to do it RUN. If they know how to do it, Why don't they do it themself? They always wants more and more. If you know that their way can lead to a possibility of deficiency and start the job it can end up costing you money and a bad relationship. Just listen and think from experience

The shine is determined by the Clearcoat which is applied on top of the final paint stage. Wet paint will appear shiny until it dries to its normal finish. Cheap paint will not shine as much as the more expensive multi-stage paints. This was an easy case to decide.

The defendant’s girlfriend had a look and affect that told the whole story of who the defendant really is....she looked like she was sad and defeated.....

You get what you pay for. It costs about the original estimate to paint a normal size car. So getting it for $2,000-$3,000 is a joke. Not sure what kind of job he was expecting to get, but not on that low of a cost. And yes, you can’t paint a car where ever you want if you are renting a bay. There are laws that needs to be followed in regards to venting, disposal, etc. I’m in no way saying the daughter & her dad’s worker did a horrible job, but the word ‘alley painter’ came up & again, what degree of professionalism do you expect? I’d say ‘almost none’. Had to add: lol that defendant is a joke for his counter claim 🤣😂 He’s definitely not a business man!

Sound like the defendant got into a fight with the plaintiff, and just didn’t pay him. For painting, anyone who has hired painters will tell you - if the person painting has is experienced, the painted thing will end up being worse than if you just left it alone.

You literally pay 1/3 cost for a professional paint job and expect top level quality. It's like the idiots who go get the $299 Maaco base level and then complain cause it has some overspray and isn't as shiny as a $10k job. Have realistic expectations people.

Correction your Honor the term is Backyard bodyman. Single stage is fine but it has to go on wet the bigger the panels the harder that is to do especially with the 1 quart cup spray gun he has you would have to stop often to refill the cup what's needed is a pressure pot that will hold at least a 2 gallons also the pressure forces a lot more paint out and increases the area the paint will cover each stroke. A cup gun with a little pssst psssst of paint is not ideal for such a large job. OK the reason the paint isn't that shiny and the finish smooth is because he took it out in the cold before it dried, The paint will flow out and get smother while it dries cold air will make it blush. Tell the daughter to call me I'll train her. I-car certified senior body tech here specializing in German cars

I'm a painter, not cars but signs. This is a nightmare. Painting is all about prepping and then being able spray without dust etc. The defendant wanted cheap and expected his "friend" to bend over backward to give him a good job without paying what it was worth.

As a student in auto body 4 guys worked on a beat old bread step van for months 2-3 hrs a day! The teacher put 2 or 3 more guys on it including me to finish and Paint it! All panels were wielded on and bondo a plenty on it..waved as heck! But it was shined! 😅😂🤣 We were all 16-17 years old!

My dad's a contractor and this woman who he did a job for has gone nuts. He's done work for her in the past without incident, she's even recommended him to other people, but now she's completely lost it and has filed all sorts of complaints against him. He agreed to return to fix the supposed issues when she first complained, but the Friday before he was supposed to come back, she suddenly files all of these complaints against him. Not a coincidence we don't think. My dad's theory is that some other contractor who wants the job has gotten into her head about it. She's literally known him all of his life: she was best friends with my grandmother. She keeps escalating, but so far it hasn't gone well for her. At one point, she actually texted my dad after MONTHS of hell to suddenly ask him to come back and fix it for her, but he refused. Not only has he had it with her, but he's worried that she'll change her mind again and try to have him arrested for trespassing or something like that if he shows up.

When he sits around the house he really sits around the house.

Is it great? No. But that’s a $5000 paint job, dude got sued and still came out on top. You’re not suppose to make money on a paint job it’s to make it look appealing. That is much more appealing to a customer than it was before.

no single stage paint is not shiny when sprayed correctly. CLEARCOAT is shiny...

Removing all trims that can be is better so you can spray the panel all the way behind trim to alleviate that crappo lines at the handles.

I would make the defendant pay the plaintiff the 3000 plus materials then let the defendant suck it up to have it repainted because he was too cheap to begin with.

The defendant said he knocked the price down to 30,000 because if the paint job I don’t believe that for second. I wish the judge would have asked for him to show proof of that by showing his most recent listing. I’m sure they guy was able to sell the bus for 50,000.

Wow this guy!!!!! Unbelievable!! I worked at Sherwin Willaims and I couldn’t stand the people that wanted the cheapest paint and expect to do it in one cost no priming. I meant there film thickness you have to get to in order to have the paint preform as it’s suppose to! It they get it their way now then it’s not going to stand up the proper lifetime it’s suppose to! Smh sorry we have good paint not magic paint!
