We begin this tour in the center of the city, in the street called entrehortas, which has the particularity that the great stone wall is formed by the convent of Dominican nuns.
🎯This street allows us to cross a part of the center and reach one of the best-known main streets of Baiona, such as Carabela Pinta street.
It is just 250 meters from the beach and the marina, in this area you will find restaurants, shops, bars to have a good beer, and if you plan to stay you will see a wide variety of hotels.
Walking a little more through the center of the city, we have to visit the MONTEREAL castle or CASTILLO DE BAIONA.
As a curiosity, it is said that it was the first city in the world to learn of the arrival of Christopher Columbus in America, since then every March 1st one of the most important festivals in this city called LA RECONQUISTA is celebrated.
Entering the castle a bit we can see this fortress from the 12th century and completed in the 16th century, also called (MONTE BOI FORTRESS), it has approximately 18 hectares, you can walk through it and see this spectacular construction from that time.
This fortress today has one of the most important inns as it is. EL CONDE DE GONDOMAR (VIDEO PARADOR) which was built in the ruins of the castle and inside you can see a bit of history, you can also enter the cafeteria and have a drink watching the spectacular views.
🎯Another place that this city offers us to visit is the (VIRGIN OF THE ROCK).
This monument is located on Mount Samson, it is approximately 15 meters high, and you can go up inside the monument, entering you will see a stone carved with the year 1910, it is said that it was the first stone that was placed in this monument. Being at the top you will be able to see the horizon and to one side the impotent Cíes islands.
