I have 4-5 Snapping Turtles that need to be removed from my lakes. I am showing the techniques I use to catch & prep turtles. THIS IS CRAZY bit.ly/32XCskS
Also best bait i found for snapping turtle is chicken liver, put it on hook wrap with pantyhose so small fish, cray fish and other turtles dont eat it. I catch somewhere around 200 turtles a year. I never caught them on live bait, always dead fish or chicken liver.
Snapping turtles eat chopped up fish all the time that’s how I catch my snapping turtles they will eat anything that has meat like steak 🥩 chickens meat, birds craw fish , chicken liver includeds chopped up fish they small the blood
I’ve caught snappers off of everything from fake bait to empty hooks, I’ve never actually tried to catch them since they’re kind of a nuisance to unhook but I always catch one on accident everytime I fish wether it’s on top or bottom fishing lmao
Yall can use some small hooks. Here in pa our rules require a mustad 10/0 turtle hook, and i have them litterslly straighten those hooks sometimes and get off.
Another thing alot of people in the south like me...try small birds like sparrows hook them good in the back or through center. They will sit at the bottom and look up a the bird floating until they can't take it anymore! All you need now is a video of the catch and do a clean and cook. Good eating there common and alligator snapping and soft shell turtles!
