Welcome to the 4th video of the trip. Very long overdue I apologize, but I have been enjoying Mexico and the beaches and honestly had to take a bit of a break from the trip. This video marks finally reaching the mainland of Mexico after spending an entire month in Baja. I've just spent Christmas with a cool mix of other travelers and locals, spearfishing and releasing baby sea turtles that found their way to our fire by accident.
So thank you for checking out this latest video, I am working on some standalone cinematic projects as well so those will be coming out soon. Otherwise the trip is going well.
By request I've also put up a Patreon, that will be a new project but if you would like to support the channel from a financial perspective this is the link. Thank you very much !

Last year, February 2023, I drove that road from Las Pocitas to San Evaristo to La Paz in a minivan, a Dodge Grand Caravan. The only modification to the van was a 3” lift kit. The road really was too much for a minivan but I ended up going past what should have need my turn around point and made it to San Evaristo. I knew I wouldn’t make it back the way I had come so I had to try the road to La Paz. The trip cost me a set of tires but it was memorable. On my way back north to Calgary I stopped again in Las Pocitas and bought a knife from a local artisan.

It cost us $275 (US) for two people and our van for the 8 hour trip to Topolobampo. The commercial nature of Trasportes Maritimos de California means you can sleep in your vehicle just like the truckers do. Baja Ferries doesn’t allow dogs outside their deck kennels or in specially designated cabins where TMC doesn’t care about your dog which is great. Rusty didn’t the trip in the van and taking fresh air on the car deck with us. Plus the food and the hot showers on TMC are all you need. The only drawback is TMC often runs a few hours late as they accommodate trailers where Baja Ferries sticks to their schedule.

Great info and I'm really enjoying your scenic drone footage👍 Got a few questions if your able to answer. First, how much does your rig weigh? Second, what do you think about the idea of prebuying your oil and filters in the states and hauling them along? How many oil changes are you planning on going through? I know space and weight is always a consideration but just wondering as the trip is on my bucket list and want to be as prepared as possible. I'll be doing the trip in my 1994 Chevy Suburban K2500 6.5L Diesel fingers crossed, so I'd probably have room and weight capacity to bring the fluids with me if necessary.

Hey thank you! I've thought about that in hindsight, bringing everything. These old diesels need a lot of oil though and especially with the land cruiser bringing more than one oil change wouldn't be realistic space and weight wise. I did bring 2 filters so should last me at least half the trip distance in theory. I would bring filters if you have room for sure, just so much less hassle and likely money than finding them here. Weight of the rig I'm not 100% sure they didn't give a read out with the receipt and I never had it weighed. I'm guessing with the full loadout and original weight of the truck somewhere around 4500 or more

@aloneonadventure thanks for the info! Ya I figured space might be a limiting factor for carrying all the oil.
