Aftertale is the story Geno comes from. That Alternate timeline has two Sans', one being the classic Sans, the other being Geno that got stuck in the save screen after almost dying in a genocide timeline. Geno spent his time getting into contact with Sans in the normal timelines to make a plan to stop Chara and end all timelines so no one has to suffer again. That whole conflict is resolved once Sans brings in Papyrus to convince Geno to stop, and Aftertale ends with Frisk, Sans and Papyrus finding a way to get Geno out of the save screen after a pacifist ending, and now Geno lives on the surface with Sans, Papyrus and their friends.

Theory/ personal opinions: I think that the reason why xgaster was trying to separate his timeline from the others was due to his twisted sense of perfection, like, I’m too perfect to even stand near the trash, something like that but I think he was also trying to keep fatal error out of his timeline so that he wouldn’t cause problem

Ink is so Lucky cuz he doesn't feel Pain, that's why he din't feel anything when Fatal Error cracked and almost break his hand.

Fatal error was telling normal gaster to shut up He said that it was between him and x gaster If fatal error get his hand on x gaster code he will get his power and stuff

So, with the whole Alternate Multiverses, Alternate Universes, and Alternate Timelines. Fatal_Error, Error, Geno, and Classic can exist in the same Multiverse. Which is why when Fatal sends Cross and Ink to his anti-void, Geno and After!Classic stay in their timeline. Fun Fact: (Probably not this)Fatal (because the whole alternate multiverses thing but, Fatal) has canonically killed an alternate version of Cross back in 0.3 part 1, at some point in the Fatal comic. Not this Cross because, well he's still alive. But still happened somewhere in the multiverse(s).

I assume XGaster was speaking to Fatal when he said to "keep your guard up instead of monologuing in my face" and sliced him
