welcome to baking with krystal! this is a popular cake in korea right now, and is super easy to make, let me know if you try it!
recipe (this recipe was converted from metric units)
cake ingredients:
butter 100g (about 1 stick)
1/2 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1/2 tbsp honey
splash of vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 cup cake flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
6 inch cake pan
parchment paper
1. line cake pan with parchment paper
2. whip butter until soft
3. add sugar, salt, honey and vanilla into the butter and whip until white and fluffy
4. whisk 2 eggs in a separate bowl
5. add in 1/3 of the egg mixture into the butter mixture and whip until completely mixed
6. add another 1/3 and repeat
7. add in the rest and whip until white and fluffy
8. sift in half of the flour and baking powder and fold in just until you don't see the flour anymore
9. sift in the rest and fold just until everything is mixed. (don't mix too much)
10. add into cake pan and bake at 330 degrees f for 30 minutes (or until toothpick comes out clean)
buttercream ingredients:
4 egg yolks
5/8 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tbsp vanilla extract
200g butter (1.8 sticks)
1. add sugar into egg yolk and mix right away
2. heat up milk and vanilla in a pan on medium heat until it simmers
3. add milk to the egg mixture and mix right away
4. add the mixture back into the pan and cook on low heat until it thickens
5. strain and let it cool
6. whip up the butter until soft
7. add the cool egg mixture into the butter and whip until desired texture (the more you whip, the more fluffy it will be)
decoration ingredients:
strawberry
thyme
powdered sugar
