So jealous, I love seeds and buy dozens of packages every year. I need to practice starting them though. Thank you for showing your green house "before". It helps me feel more normal to see that others get busy too.

I’d love to visit Baker Creek. Bit too far of a drive though. I have already ordered and received the seeds for spring. Our garden store started their 40% off sale today . Bought some seed starting stuff and new garden gloves! I feel like I should go back tomorrow to make sure I didn’t miss anything! Lol.

Last year I ended up with about 200 packets of seeds from them. My BC yearly catalogs end up tattered and I have kept them all. After years of wanting to, last year I finally planted the white Okinawan bitter melon. It is amazing! Our other breakout favorite was the Nkruma tenten okra. I won't plant any other okra again. They are very large pods, but they don't get woody. They hold up gumbo, pan frying, I toss them in soups, and more. The flowers on them are gorgeous. The one thing they may not be appropriate for, and this is due to the pod size, is pickling. Jimmy Nardello peppers will always be a feature in our garden as will the Chinese long beans......oh don't get me started.....off to pour through 2024 offerings.

I’ll have to check out the bitter melon, I’ve never grown one before. I think that’s the variety of okra I got! Yay!

@@FermentedHomestead it is the one you got, you will love it. If I can grow bitter melon in Clovis, NM it would grow amazing where you live. I stir fry it (after soaking in salt a bit, then rinse) with the long beans or the slender eggplants, with whatever is in the garden. It isn't as bitter as you think, but it lifts the dish. I wouldn't want to eat it alone. But it has that more-ish quality. I would liken it to adding espresso to a chocolate cake or fudge to lift the flavor. Oh, and it will clean you out, if you know what I mean. First of Dec is when we learned about fermentation. How I wish we had known that this summer. This year is gonna be a garden game changer. We are cannabis farmers, so have a good grasp of growing, but growing our own food has been a butt kicker at times. I am so glad I found your channel. Going to Baker Creed is a dream for us, we always have a crop growing so it is hard to get away. But one of those big conventions is high on our list. Btw, my husband was watching some of your husband's home brewing and now researching what he would like to try. Lol
@skyethewylder

Btw, we say we have the happiest worm bin the world. They get the cannabis trim and all the shredded eco friendly wine boxes. What more could a worm want? Oh, the response above was supposed to be on your post about your seeds from Baker Creek. Ugh!

Going to seed start a few kale and cabbage plants this weekend. Last year's cabbage did not head up before the heat. The previous year they did fine. But as you mentioned in a previous video, starting earlier seems to be a good idea in MO.

Sad for the loss of the seeds in the greenhouse, but understand the want to plant them all anyway. I have done that with my "old" seeds and had very little success but it doesn't stop me from planting them! Congrats on the amazing variety of flowers and other garden seeds - it's bound to be PRETTY! Seed haul videos are one of my favorites and well-timed with the fact that I've gotten 3 or 4 seed catalogs over the past few days. LOL

I went to my first Baker Creek event in September. I wasn't sure if they would be selling seeds packs or not so I went with a list of 12 packs I hoped they would have. 45 seed packs later I was such a happy camper. At $2.00 a pack I could not walk away. I also was able to purchase elephant garlic for .50 cents a clove and a head of garlic for $1.00 per head. I was in gardener's paradise. I'm hoping to go again in 2024! I love their seeds.

Baker Creek's head quarter is in Missouri but they have a store in Peraluma California. The California store hosted the Heirloom Festival in Ventura CA this past Sept. Historically it has been in Northern California.
