The Cleveland Browns traded their former #1 overall pick Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers for a 2024 5th round pick. The move puts an end to the Baker Mayfield-Browns saga which started at the tail end of last season and continued into the summer. The Panthers are set to host the Browns in Week 1 of the NFL regular season. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe react to Baker being traded.

Carson's start with the Eagles was better than Bakers 11 game by far. But Skip ignores those game Carson played. Wentz 13 games 33-7. For Skip Wentz never played those game. Even thou Wentz is pretty close to 3 to 1 TDs to INT for a career. Baker isn't even 2 to 1.

Skip just doesn't get it. Good teams have QBs it's why they are good. Bad teams don't. It's why they are bad. Baker is going to end up with a bad team. Because they are the only teams needing QBs. If Baker was a great QB as Skip says 19 million and a 5th round pick is a steal for any team needing a starting QB who is that guy. Sadly, Baker was barely average in Cleveland with an above average team. Baker actually stopped Cleveland from winning more. Put a good QB in Cleveland and they have more than 1 playoff win in 4 years. Cleveland has a very nice roster. Baker made it average at best.

When he was healthy with a healthy roster he won 11 games plus a playoff win and finished top 10 in QBR. Literally above average. Lol he got 7 wins his rookie year for a team that had 0 the previous year and 4 in the previous 3 years. You have the situation entirely backwards. Cleveland is a career destroyer. To perform above average there and win a playoff game is more of an accomplishment than doing the same with a team that was already winning games and going to the playoffs.

Unless you actually believe that all 30+ QBs who got there before Baker were trash. 30+ 1st round draft picks and accomplished vets, all trash. So you can assume 30 guys were trash or you can assume 1 guy was a lot better than all of them. When considering two possibilities, it's best to go with the one that requires the fewest assumptions.

So it wasn’t just him, it was the Front office as well. The Browns lowkey had one of the best teams in the NFL and a GOOD quarterback woulda done wayyyy more than Baker has done with the weapons at his disposal.

11 games. 20 TD. 12 of them in 3 games. That leaves 8 in 8 games. Not very impressive breaking it down when he got them. 3 of those 11 games Baker threw for less than 170 a game. 1 game of 111. Not great breaking down those 11 games. Baker was barely average in those 11 games when you remove the 3, he passed for 12 TD. You could say he wasn't even average in those 8 games. I always use this. I pass for 800 yards and 6 TD in one game. Game 2 I pass for 100 and zero TDs. Added together I pass for 900 yards and 6 TD in 2 games. Look Godly, doesn't it? But look when I got them. It doesn't look nearly as Godly. That Baker's 11 games. Total wise they look pretty good. Then break them down they don't look very good at all. And that's with the number 1 rush attack in the NFL over those 11 games.

There were a lot of injuries on that Browns team and the offensive line was awful. Both running backs were out some with injuries, sometimes at the same time, and the play calling was not the best. As some have stated, the organization was obviously lacking. I don’t understand all the ultra criticism and the true motives for such. Seems over the top.

@@larrylindgren9484 I’m saying that playoff win was overrated when it comes to Baker specifically: it wasn’t baker so much as Chubb and Hunt on the ground dominating after Steelers kept giving it up in their own territory. Second half was just Steelers munching away at the lead after it got out of hand (although lowkey it was kinda impressive cause they got damn close) Big Ben threw over 500 yards and Browns didn’t do much offensively the whole second half other than run the ball. I think they ended up winning by 9 and Steelers had a chance to take the lead at one point but Tomlin decided to kick a punt instead of go for it on 4th down late in the game
