Hi Rebecca, your cake is awsome, and the colours blue, white and red, are the colors of my home country (France). You should have put the red cake first😃... But that's a little detail. Yes, I am french by birth, a country which I never considered my home, and here in Texas since 4 years now, I feel l belong to your beautiful country. Even if all the recent events show how fragile this big Nation is, I want to keep America in my heart forever and ever. Since I was 15, for some reason I fell in love with the flag, then my first trip to the States when I was 30 made me feel alive when I was in Wyoming or Montana. Today I can understand why so many "poor" people I see on the streets still love their country and are proud to be American. Happy Independence Day everyone and my sweet Rebecca!! July 4, 1996 @ 8:15pm my on,y chair, my daughter was born. She was the only baby born at that hospital that day. She is now 28yrs old and she will always be my kitties firecracker.

Love the idea of using a bit of cake mix instead of flour to dust the pans. Brilliant! Also, made cupcakes this morning and used your trick of using melted butter instead of vegetable oil (I was out of oil). Thanks, and happy 4th! I'm so glad to see you doing something patriotic! It feels like patriotism is dying more and more in this country, quite sadly. I'm not sure how many people actually celebrate Independence Day and how many just use it as nothing more than an opportunity to enjoy a day off work and hang out.
