BAKU FROM HIGHLAND PARK 

Highland Park, the highest point in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan that lies below sea level, offers panoramic views of the city and the Caspian Sea. Its many monuments includes
- Turkish Martyrs Mosque and a memorial area for Turkish soldiers who saved Baku from Armenians in 1918;
- Tombstone of Azerbaijani General Hazi Aslanov, a Soviet hero who fought in WWII;
- Alley of Martyrs with graves of people who died on January 20, 1990, during the “Black January” protests against the Soviet Union - and in the Karabakh War with Armenia.
