Great review! I appreciate your review and playing style, so I was so excited to see you cover this company. I can’t wait to try one. One other company doing offset guitars in this price range is the Reverend.

My Balaguer arrived last summer. I got one of their custom shop models with a ton of options. They were really cool about everything, and made a (free) suggestion that made my build even cooler. Humbucker at the bridge, P90 at the neck. It's comfortable, stable, and sounds great. Wildly expensive, but a great deal for everything I upgraded to and beautiful. When you posted your song, I was really hyped to see what you'd think about yours.
@poopguy6208
@poopguy6208 2 месяца назад
Not really wildly expensive when you consider it’s nearly fully custom to anything you could possibly want besides a custom body shape. Other companies who offer customs like mayones, aristides etc. are gonna be muuuuuch more expensive for the same quality. Kiesel is around the same price, but their qc sucks

I really appreciate your dedication to covering interesting guitars on your channel. So many guitar players on youtube have never touched anything that wasn't a fender or a gibson, and would probably have a heart attack if they saw your abasi emi 6, not that it's explicitly a bad thing. However, it's really refreshing to have someone who isn't constantly chasing vintage-ness as the entire guitar playing world seems to be a bit obsessed with vintage gear. It also helps that you explain things in a super easy to understand and digestible way, you talk about specs of the instruments and then explain why they matter in extremely clear, concise ways. When I have more money, I'll absolutely have to try your courses as I really resonate with the way you teach, and I think it'd be extremely beneficial for my growth as a musician. In short, thank you for talking about interesting gear and being an excellent educator.

There was an old Danish Jazz dude. Jan Bo Jacobsen. He told me about the crossed-leg thing way back in the day. He was a good friend, so I didn't give a s#it, and as a metal guitarist who stood up 90% of the time... Rock on ''Crazy Cloud''.
@dimitriid
@dimitriid 5 месяцев назад
Curious about a flying V because while they're notoriously terrible for sitting down ergonomics, that's usually from players that do the 'Over the leg' way whereas a flying by can stick well, the 'V' part on your right leg and get a better angle but, you'd have to close your legs to hold it on that position or hold one of the wings with your right arm resting on it at all times. I don't think there's going to be *any* way a flying V would feel ergonomic to you but hey I could be very surprised
@andrefludd
@andrefludd 5 месяцев назад
I’m willing to give them a shot. I plan to cover a bunch of different Flying Vs in the summer

I have a Dean baby ML that has has the V shape, and that thing in the classical position is an absolute dream to play. It probably doesn't sit as high as Andre likes to have his guitars because the body is sitting lower and at an angle because of the V shape sitting into your leg. But I bloody love it for the classic position. Hope that makes sense. I write this comment out like 3 times and just gave up haha
@ELITE815
@ELITE815 5 месяцев назад
The Jackson Rhoads is my favorite guitar shape and it's really comfortable sitting down. It naturally sits at the 45ish degree classical position sitting down or standing up with a strap. I hate when non v users complain about the ergonomics when it's user error.

Andre did a video on the Vigier Marilyn a while ago, right? And he enjoyed the V cut on it, and how he could rest his arm on it, if I remember correctly

Are you referring to nut width, fretboard width, or fretboard radius? I am confused because you mentioned radius and then used the word "wider".

how do you review every company im interested in? you are truly one of the best guitar reviewers out there that knows whats good, i have a question tho, im like you in the way i love neck humbucker tones, but i loove how s - h guitars look and also im interested in neck tele style tones too like jakub zytecki tone and i was wondering, can i get the jazzy bassy full and round sound with a s - h config? or do i need the h-h?

Would love you to do a review of the Ibanez Ishi00. Offset body, flat radius fretboard, "modern" ceramic pickups all seem like something you would like. Also basically no well done reviews of it on youtube.

You should check out reverend guitars for some nice offsets with interesting pickup configurations and roasted maple necks. I own a reverend six gun HPP (I feel like it’s a jazzmaster had a baby with a super strat and it’s amazing). They are around a similar price point and I feel the value is pretty awesome for what you get.

This is becoming must-watch for me, even though I won't be buying anything the Doc reviews. I just don't have that kind of cash. I like hearing him play, and his insights on ergonomics have really made me reconsider how I will butcher the next $100 yard sale Epiphone. Doc's a smart guy, and more people should be watching his channel.

Could you review the Ibanez Tim Henson nylon electric? I bet it sounds great for traditional jazz. Your opinion on the Virtual Jeff would be cool too, given your preference for tremolo. Thanks Oh, and if you could get your hands on a TogaMan GuitarViol, that would be wild! Your thoughts on it *as a guitar* would be interesting
@andrefludd
@andrefludd 5 месяцев назад
I bought a guitarviol in 2010. It was my first ever big purchase but I ended up chickening out and sending it back. I’d love to get another one one day. And I’ll try to get the Nylon. I used to play a lot of nylon string stuff so that would be fun to get back into. Virtual Jeff isn’t really my wheel house, but I’ll think it over for sure

That looks smaller than a Jazzmaster, which would be cool, but that TOM bridge makes me cry (I seem to be the only guitarist who is sensitive to neck pitch.).
@thesmellycatjazz
@thesmellycatjazz 5 месяцев назад
've looking at Balaguer for awhile, and their Espada seems like the Jazzmaster that I want Charvel to make as a Pro Mod because I hate the Charvel Surfacster. The radius and neck heel are the selling point for me. I've already gone to their builder and built out one with Mastercoils (JM pickups) and a TOM bridge, but $2k is a hard pill to swallow when I can get a used Fender Ultra Jazzmaster for less. That said, I've been looking at the Ambient Espada, and installing a set of Seymour Duncan Phat Cats (P90) as an ergonomic jazz guitar.

Since you like T style guitars, have you seen the driftwood tidalcaster? They claim it’s “handcrafted to perfection” and the p90 neck might give that thicker humbucker sound
