The Whiskey Crusaders review Balcones Cataleja 15th Anniversary Texas Single Malt Whisky which comes in at 118 proof. Cataleja translates to spyglass to see those before and after us means an offering, an alter built to those who came before us, who inspired us to seek out on our own. Made with 100% golden promise. It was first aged in refill bourbon 200L KY for 3 years then finished in Sherry Solera puncheons, between 500 and 700L each of Moscatel, Amontillado Dulce, Oloroso, & Palo Cortado all hand selected in Jerez, Spain. These casks are all between 80 and 100 years old but had so much character after 1 year that batch was put into neutral barrels. Then 2 more batches were put into the same sherry casks. Each batch then allowed to marry in neutral casks after finishing.
