Join us on our trip to Bald Head Island.
First we take a drive to Southport, North Carolina.
This is where a 20 minute ferry takes passengers to the Island. Tickets for the ferry are first come first serve, but if you get there early, there is space to just sit back, have a snack, relax and enjoy the quiet marina activity.
Once on island, a tram takes us to our accommodations for the week.
We spent time relaxing on the beach, swimming in the Ocean, admiring sunsets and sunrises, walked for private miles along the shore, visited the Chapel and Old Baldy Lighthouse. There are restaurants, shops and a market for groceries.
There is enough to do here to stay active but spending hours in a hammock in the breeze was our favorite activity.

The Bald Head Island Conservancy has summer camps, turtle nesting programs, guided kayak tours, island nature tours, birding tours, fishing school, and environmental/nature activities for adults and children.
The Old Baldy Foundation provides Island historic tours; climb Old Baldy Lighthouse, visit the museum.
