On the surface, Baldur’s Gate 3 appears to be about epic fantasy adventures with world-ending stakes. Yet underneath all that, the player will find a story about the enduring strength of found families-those people with whom we choose to share our deepest fears and greatest joys. In a similar way, while Borislav Slavov’s “I Want To Live” touches on the desire to persevere over an inescapable fate, a deeper theme rings out: how in the face of impending doom, our bonds with others become a guiding beacon-the proverbial lighthouse in the storm of all life’s unknowns.
This arrangement of “I Want To Live” combines the vocal and instrumental versions of the song as heard in the original soundtrack, and includes accommodations for the particular size and composition of our orchestra. It also features solo performances from two of our talented choir members. If you are familiar with the world of Baldur’s Gate 3, you may also recognize musical quotes from “The Nightsong” and “The Weeping Dawn”; these themes belong to two characters who may very well share a similar fate to the player’s avatar, be it survival or ruin. It all depends on the connections that you, as the player, make.
