Fun list! Minthara is recruitable without losing other followers after patch 5. Just knock her out with melee weapons and non lethal attacks. Gale (or any wizard) can be as powerful as any other character at levels 1-4. Summon a familiar (Raven) to give him the ability to blind opponents without using a spell slot, then concentrate on ritual spells (longstrider, feather fall, enhanced leap) to buff the party and control spells or spells with damage and control to back the party in combat (Sleep, Chromatic Orb, Ice Knife). He just keeps getting better. My top three would probably be Karlach, Shadowheart, Lae’zel. But every companion brings something to the game.
@@GhostStefana so sorry to put you in the position of playing again. :-) Wizards are basically support characters until level five, but a good support character can make a big difference. Lae’zel and Shadowheart really feel essential to the story for me. Every character hooks into the main quest in one way or another. But those two are tied to some of the most important lore and side quests. I think the only character tied even more closely to the main quest is the Dark Urge.
@@GhostStefanaif you play smart you can have everyone regardless of playthrough. I use Minthara as a Healer paladin , with karlach(monk) , Bard (me lolth drow) last spot depends on what quest im doing , playing custom difficulty to prebuild a setup for Honor mode
Yeah, that’s good. My first playthrough I slept with her but then broke it off for Shadowheart. Planning a Gith Tav playthrough next so would make sense to romance Lae’Zel on that
Just one word about Laezel here: She is rather rude in the beginning, but you can soften her very fast and additionally you can romance her. If you stay with her (many don't), a real great romance unfolds and she shows her best sides. It is a real interesting character development. I think, she is really worthwhile from this side -- if you are not so much into SH or the Bear off course. One of my most appreciated scenes in the game comes with this romance option. You should understand that most of her "attitude" comes from her uprising in a military civilization that is ruled by a ruthless queen. Laezel is also great in battle, when you give her the right weapons. With a githyanki Greatsword she can rule the battlefield from Act 1 on.
As a player from the original games is mostly why I like the inclusion of Jaheira and Minsc, as they were popular/fan favorites from BG and BG2. There are other characters from the old games that make appearances too, like Elminster!
@@GhostStefana I enjoyed the wits and bits of wisdom she shares. The banter with Tav and Minsc. The voice acting overall. The whole family reunion scene. The unique dialogue when confronting Viconia or Serevok. The fact you get approval by teasing her. What she had to say always made sense to me and helped to put things into perspective. Gaming-wise, you don't need her. And she comes rather late to the party, just like Minsc. But her bits of dialogue have always been entertaining to me and felt far from boring.
@azzazzinx5519 that’s interesting and perhaps I’m guilty of not giving her enough of a chance, so I’ve missed out on a lot of that banger. In fairness, there’s no bad characters in this game
Lol, I beat the honour mode without changing members. Bard College of swords (longbow build) for easy conversations and a big amount of range damage, Lae'zel was a tank and melee damage, Shadowheart heal, Gale for magic missiles with spellsparkler.
Minthara can be gained via good playthrough, just knock her out in goblin camp . You get her at moonrise . Won't lose any party members and it's not difficult ending game with everyone at camp. Karlach if you turn her into an open hand monk is faaaaar better than Lae'zel . Jaheira , Halsin , Gale(necromancer) Me the healing Paladin murdered Raphael in 6 turns . Druids rock if you have a brain.
Yeah I always change her cleric domain too, life for a focused healer, war and tempest for combat. Light for more "fire" power spells, etc. All good options for alternatives.
I think, if you want to roleplay true to the characters story, it would be best to change her into a light or life cleric after Shadowfell. I am planning to do exactly that, though I might do some fiddling with her initial character stats before that, because they are just BAD.
