Here is the Pinned Comment: The full series is out now! Act 2 Video can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6UBfg_xxLiQ.html Act 3 Video can be found here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uOgiMiSsDMM.html Info on what tricks/exploits are still working can be found below. Update: knocking out vendors no longer gives ALL of there unique items (but it does give a few). Update: Due to a balance change (or possibly bug) here is a new method to get "Pest Control" achievement. 1. Use Shovel in his Invisible form (or other invisible companions) to destroy the two clusters of eggs that are furthest from the Matriarch while outside of combat, BEFORE engaging the Phase Spider Matriarch Directly. This includes the cluster of eggs on the bottom level, as well as the cluster on the norther plateau, which can be reached by shovel by climbing down the vines to the south, then by moving them around the chasm to the north and climbing the cragged rock. The Matriarch and other spiders must be far enough away for Shovel to destroy the eggs without being detected. The final cluster of eggs is more difficult to destroy without alerting the Matriarch. What I've found to work is use Karlach to gain surprise on the Matriarch with a flurry of blows. Then use her action to throw a Alchemist Fire on the final cluster of eggs. If any remain unbroken, another party member can use a firebolt, magic missile, or other ranged attack to destroy them. Sometimes the spider near the bottom cluster of eggs won't move away from them. In that case, you'll need to have another party member throw a second alchemist fire on that cluster while the Matriarch and other spiders are still surprised. The Matriarch will no longer die from falling in the chasm. However, major damage can be dealt by shooting out the web bridges from beneath the Matriarch, which will cause it to take fall damage. You can also make use of Potions of speed on Karlach and Lae’zel to help them kill the Matriarch faster. As of 04/06/24 (Patch 6) all of the following exploits/tricks still work: - How to get Silver Sword of the Astral Plane early/in Act 1. (This still works to get the sword, but now seems to trigger an unavoidable combat.) I would send in just one character (the hireling) to get the sword to drop. I would then have a character with high initiative (alert feat, high dexterity, etc.) run and grab the sword, then run back/away and flee combat. The hostile Githyanki can be dealt with fairly easily upon reaching level 5 and it shouldn't negatively impact any questline. The game may determine that Voss holds a crossbow instead of his greatsword. If that happens, I do not currently know of any way to get the Silver Sword to drop and it may not be obtainable. As of 04/06/24 (Patch 6) the following still work as shown in the video: - How to get all rewards from Kagha Encounter (Broodmother’s Revenge, Pale Oak, and Faithwarden Title). - How to get Auntie Ethel’s Hair & still defeat her/ save everyone that can be saved. (If you have to pick one, probably go with the Hair!) - How to give Noblestalk Mushroom to BOTH Shadowheart AND Derryth. (If you have to pick one, Derryth provides more tangible/mechanical benefits, once you get to Act 3.)
Ungrouping companions, or sending them to camp no longer avoids their approval or disapproval, no matter how far away they are, they'll, somehow, know what you are doing, and you can see their responses to your actions.
Great update re patch 5. Concerning Dark Urge: I've restarted a tactician playthrough and can confirm that Alfira can still be knocked out to save her (immediately prior to rest 3 or 4), and will subsequently show up in act 2 (Last Light). Can update anyone interested concerning the "no one left behind" achievement. Cant wait to find out how you tackle House of Hope (nuke them, maybe?). Keep it up!
@@MartinRiber recording voiceover for part 2. Then the lengthy process of editing it all together. Hoping to get done with it by Friday morning. Then on to Act 3!
I do not think that the silver sword exploit works consistently post-Patch 5. Voss is almost always equipped with the crossbow instead of the silver sword. EDIT: Confirmed with various Reddit posts it is apparently random what weapon he spawns in with during the cutscene, reloaded 50+ times to always have the cutscene with him with the the crossbow equipped. The only solution to this is to throw the iron flask and spawn the beholder next to him (from the high ground where the tiefling was) to force him to switch, then do the disarm method in the video. I only sent in Karlach and the hireling (both invisible, could only splash the potion on 2/4 characters). I then disarmed with the hireling and had Karlach steal the sword. Karlach was detected but I used a scroll of blink and step of the wind jumps to disengage back to the fast travel point. Hireline died but resurrected her via Withers for 200 gold.
YES!! new to the game and game style and i felt so proud of myself when i killed all the goblin leaders and rescued halsin before heading to the underdark, only to realize i missed almost all of the side quests AND so so so many opportunities to gain approval/romance characters. after watching this, i realized just how much i was doing wrong. makes me upset when i see gamers who make fun of people for watching these kinds of video tutorials, but they are an absolute LIFESAVER!
Same 😂 i played my way and i ended up level 8 at act 3 when i should be level 8 after the first map of act 1 I missed a lot of content without realising it
The strict structure and sheer amount of work in this series is simply outstanding. I cannot understand why your pieces are not favoured by the algorithm because, as I hope you are aware of, they stand head and shoulders above any other similar content for BG3. Your build tips alone are better, more relevant and more comprehensive than any other I've seen - and to be honest, I've seen quite a lot of them. For others new to the channel I most highly recommend the Elden Ring series, even if you have no intention of playing the game - it's that good. Looking forward with great anticipation for act 2, and finally: thank you very much for sharing your deep understanding of this genre-defining game.
It's 3 and a half hours, im not saying that's a bad thing, im not dissing or hating in any way, im just saying that length no matter what it's about is always unfavorable in the algorithm
@@rhys.hushon I actually started this series with smaller parts (around 20-35 min) and they weren’t doing too well. This 1 part/act in a longer format is actually doing a lot better!
This guide is incredible. Wanted so badly to enjoy this game but was constantly overwhelmed by it. This is the only guide that doesn’t treat you like a D&D master to begin with, but instead takes everything one step at a time so that you’re a master by the end. Can’t endorse the effort and skills of this guy enough. He even answered my commented question from months later!
I too wanted so very much to like this game but good God. The review here is the most boring god-awful 10 steps just to do one thing ever. What a poorly designed game. Thank God this isn't how real dungeons and dragons is played because this is trash.
I've been playing D&D since 1st edition circa 1983-1984, somewhere around there, and to be honest, this game can feel overwhelming even for me. And I've been on both sides of the DM screen. Now, full disclosure, I started having problems with changes to the game made between 3rd and 4th edition, and by the time 5th rolled out, I refused to play anything past 3rd. So, it's not surprising I guess that I'm a bit stumped.
This is for anyone not getting the Arka grieving scene after the goblin fight in front the emerald grove gate. Don't activate the fast travel sigil before going into the emerald grove as activating it will cause Arka to travel somewhere else and you'll miss the grieving scene in this guide.
On Ps5, I restarted so many times because Arka wasn't showing up, but the Sigil was being automatically added to my map after the fight with the goblins at the gate. I even tried moving my entire party to the left. Instead, as soon as they opened the gates, I ran in as fast as I could. I noticed in an earlier attempt, it looked like Arka was walking behind Zevlor. That was my first and only successful attempt at getting her scene. I ignored looting, going to the sigil until after.
Ive watching plenty of 'short' videos about the basics of the game, and they were all really complicated. Didnt expect the 3+ hours video to be more useful 😅 thank you!!
3:38:03 If you don't get long rest triggered upon travelling to Grymforge. Take long rest whilst still in the Creche, once rested then fast travel to Grymforge and you should automatically trigger another long rest and the interaction with Kith'rak Voss.
As a new player to BG3 (2nd play through), im finding the game very overwhelming, yet exciting, and want to discover everything there is. This is such a great video to help me experience this game in full potential, and the achievements are a bonus too. Many thanks!
Beat the entire game now going back using this guide, thanks for the effort you put into this. The only thorough vid I’ve found so far related to this topic.
For anyone trying to get the legendary silver sword in act 1 (as of 4/14/24) you can still get the hireling, but have only the hireling go and get the sword to drop. Once the sword drops, pick it up as the hireling and move it to your inventory. The hireling will die but you will be fine if everyone else is sneaking a good distance away
37:20 I could be missing something, but I'm pretty sure this exploit has been patched out of the game by now. I made a few attempts and successfully knocked this shopkeeper out, but I found that his available inventory upon defeat was far smaller than what was seen in this video, with only about 5 items available to loot even after I sold all my junk. It also seems the shopkeeper's attitude towards the entire party was soured, not just the first person to attack. It may be worth updating the description of this vid so players know I gotta echo the sentiment of other commenters, this guide is incredible. I'll probably return and comment again if i find anything else that is outdated
After MONTHS of looking for a walkthrough + trophy run with feedback AND as a bonus my favorite class sorcerer ❤ FINALLY I have found the ULTIMATE guide for BG3, thank you so much for the effort you put in this!
Fantastic work! Patch 6, Balanced difficulty has me at 34 hrs to complete. Differences with current patch: -Cant knock out vendors and steal all the things you sold them. So money will not be as abundant. -Couldnt get Asterion to bite me like in the guide. Loaded save from day 3(after getting withers), hit long rest and got it. Thanks to another comment for that. -Couldnt get Voss to visit at the end. Got it from another comment, long rest inside creche, exit creche via walking, then fast travel to grymforge and he showed up. -for spider achievement, I had to use karlach and a ranged weapon to destroy eggs as sneaking wasn't working like your run. Looking forward to completing the guide, supporting along the way. Hopefully patch 7 doesn't break anything.
Thank you for the kind words and donation Daniel! And also thank you so much for providing useful information in your comment! I am sure that will come in handy for a lot of people watching. Hope you have a great rest of your week and weekend!
so i followed this guide from start to finish (all 3 Acts), and he got everything but 3 unique items. Act 1: the Club of Hill Giants strength in The Arcane Tower on the floor with Bernard the robot Act 2: the Shadow Blade Ring at camp after you find Arabella's parents Act 3: Duke Ravengards sword in the underwater throne allows you to get the maximum Charisma in the game [past 22 if you do everything right]
Great work, this video should be considered the official guide to BG III. 👍 In my first gameplay as The Dark Urge (Bhaalspawn) 😈, even after 180 hours, I missed many things of the game. Now with this walkthrough, even playing as a Bard, and some things have changed due to Larian updates, it's been fantastic. Thanks for sharing and let's move on to Act 2... Greetings from Brazil. 😁
Thanks for this guide! The Spider Matriarch trick no longer works but this guide series is fantastic! I'm a very seasoned veteran of games both table top and video and I have to say this is how I would introduce somebody to the gaming world. It would give newcomers a sense and feel of gameplay and mechanics in a way that is not so overwhelming. Good on ya!
Many heartfelt thanks for your outstanding guide and huge respect for the work behind it - especially for people with limited time but joy and interest in BG3, it is extremely useful. If I may ask the following questions (I have read the other comments, but haven't found any answers yet): Is there any reason not to use Balanced as the difficulty level, instead of starting with Tactican, if several playthroughs are necessary anyway, other than not getting that one achievement in this playthrough? 1.) What should I pay attention to if my main character is a Paladin? My party mainly includes Astarion, Shadowheart, and Gale. I would like to cover the stories of the others as much as possible, but I'm not sure how to proceed without having to play mainly with other companions to follow your guide. What should I consider for this? 2.) I've seen in many guides that traders are knocked out, but I wonder if there's any disadvantage to extinguishing the light sources around the traders and just stealing everything relevant with Astarion and then teleporting away to a waypoint, so as not to get caught? This works multiple times in the same day without resting. 3.) I noticed that you optimize resting very much and only take a full rest when absolutely necessary. This is probably maximally efficient/effective for strong players, but is there any disadvantage to being more generous and resting more often? You have enough camp supplies. Does this prevent certain achievements? I would be incredibly grateful for answers, as I fear I might realize too late that I have made a mistake. For 2024, I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart!
for long rests you could long rest after every fight and still have more to spare, I just finished act 1 in my run with 1500+ supplies. just make sure you're constantly checking every crate for bottles and what not because they add up. long resting does make time pass in game but there's only 1 part of the story I've seen where you can miss it by resting.
I've not completed a playthrough with Paladin as my main character, but as far as I know this might work out for you: 1) Concerning companions: IS seems to prioritize character approval for companions, and although it is possible to maximize somewhat more - all of the advice in this video is sound. Astarion will not approve of many actions for a good playthrough, and in fact IS mainly brought him along for parts of the goblin camp (and introduction to Last Light in Act 2). Don't worry: you'll make good with Astarion during act 3. If you want tips on how to make Shadowhart, Astarion and Gale both tactician-powered and somewhat lore friendly, just ask. 2) For my own part, knocking out traders breaks immersion somewhat - so I never do that. Luckily I seldom find myself being short on gold, even in honor mode. Hopefully someone else might answer this one for you. 3) I think IS needs to limit long rests because the number of Soul Coins needed for buffing Karlack is somewhat limited. Since you play without her in the party this restraint do not apply. As far as I know there are no achievements affected by resting to often (although some quests are time limited - such as "rescuing" Nere in Grymforge and defeating Mystic Carrion in act 3). Good gaming. Paladin is for sure my main for playthrough 4 😀
You do a wonderful job explaining and showing how to really enjoy this game. I have gone through 1 playthrough so far and now want to discover everything I missed. I'm glad you don't spoil too much in dialog, so we can still enjoy the scene. You have also helped me understand more in how to use the mechanics in the game to my advantage. Thanks for the hard work!
Mate I’ve got to say this series is just class I’ve always wondered just how much content and different methods of completing a quest there is so thanks so much man. Also instructions were always clear to u do a good job bro 🙌
Your guide is amazing, thank you so much! It’s so impressively organized, thorough, and astoundingly spoiler-free. I’ve watched this series nonstop for the past month as I followed it through my first two playthroughs to get 53/54 achievements (ignore the fact that I can’t make it past the first encounter on honour mode). Keep up the great work!
Hi Rainie, thank you so much for the kind words and generous donation! Honour mode is very tough and the fact that there is a lot based on chance makes it very difficult to make a full-proof guide for. I believe if you stick at it and play cautiously (always have an out for at least one of your party members), that you can do it! Best of luck and thank you again!
As a lifetime gamer and a 2x war veteran with PTSD, this game has been HUGE for me.This is HANDS DOWN THEE BEST game walkthrough series ever created! GOATED!!🫡🙏🏾👏🏾🤯🤩. Made one of the best games I have ever played 10x more amazing to experience. Bravo! Your hard work and dedication to this is appreciated bruv!
Thank you so much for the generous donation J Reid and for so much more than that. Hopefully one day I can buy you a beer! Cheers friend and thanks again for watching.
These guides are life saver, I’m always paranoid about missing stuff when i play games like these and these honestly had been a god send!! Thank you thank you
I’m glad I checked your playlists when I bought BG3, I’m about to finish my first vanilla playthrough then I’m 100% following this!! Thanks again for the work you do (you helped me platinum Elden Ring not to long ago lmao)
Man you make the best guides on RU-vid I cannot stress enough how helpful your guides have been I followed all your guides on Elden ring and now working on baldurs gate you’re the 🐐
Hey Just an FYI but as of 3/3/24, you can no longer push the Matriarch Spider into the Abyss. I still needed the achievement, so I shot all of the eggs with Karachi in sneak mode and then burned the bridge with the Matriarch on it to start the fight with some of an advantage. It was a close fight at this point in the game, but I was able to get the kill. EDIT: Shatter - Props to you on the guide. Great guide for a great game.
Important note! Before giving the food to the owlbear please drop the owlbear egg anywhere in the camp from your inventory before sleeping or you will feed it to the owlbear.
Brand new to playing this and following these guides! MY GOD! 5 minutes of your video is like 1hr of playtime. LOL! Everything has been followed great so far! Got to the Silver Sword of the Astral Plane part. It's been "fixed". Dialogue after fight doesn't happen as you said, but the crossbow that Voss drops is the "fix". Since you're invisible and "not in range" he has the crossbow. The sword is on his back when there is something in melee range, but that causes the dialogue to start. I believe there is a way around this but it's a lot more complicated. I decided to skip it.
I’d like to take my time and appreciate your work!! Thank you for making guides. It has helped make my enjoyment of the game better and I’m a new player. I was initially hesitant but my friend gifted it to me anyway and I haven’t looked back since. I hope you have great days ahead of you with your pillow nice and cool 😊
Playing the story 3 times one with my friends one on my own and one with all achievements I appreciate this video BG3 will have to wait Tuesday when I’m off this took me 4 days to complete guys make sure u do your chores 😂😂
3:29:00 you should have 2 elixir of heroism at this point, with that and resistance cantrip, you should be okay. But definitely save first. You don't have to roll a critical 20. The roll is 30 on honor mode I got a 32.
This was a WONDERFUL series. The only thing I'd add is to try and include key party members for certain scenes if you're interested in the lore / RP. For example, PLEASE have Wyll with you when you find Karlach as he is literally "hunting" her. Their interaction is fantastic.
Your walkthrough is absolutely amazing. Just a quick note: on PS5 you can get the sword to Laz'el but there are no talk afterwards, he looses the sword after 5 or 6 Times but when he does starts immediately a battle and they kill Varana . The only way I could do it was running away to the bridge on the right and end the fight.
Hey @ItsShatter thanks for this guide man. Gonna def use this after my blind pay through. But any chance on having a written guide to this, I find it a bit easier to follow through on when there is a written guide and the video as a back-up. Thank you.
I am stuck as no one apart from Druids walking about at grove, no teiflings anywhere. I have Haslin in camp but can't get get anything from him to join group
If he is in camp then that is all to do with him for now. He won't become a playable character that you can get into your party until midway through Act 2.
I am already at my 3rd run of the game and am not learning much from the video. I just like to listen to it driving with the soothing voice and chill music in the background.
At 2:50.00 Once Bernard drops the weapon, instead of directly picking it up, you could have a character move behind Bernard and move into sneak mode, from there you can pick up the weapon without bernard even noticing you. After picking up the weapon, you can safely walk away towards the elevator without incident. I did this with Shadowheart, so you don't need high stealth in order to do this.
First up, say “Hi” to Marshmallow. Secondly, great walkthru! Nice job making it informatively entertaining! Baldur’s Gate 3, like some other Larian games allows you to get deep and cerebral (like a preexisting wet surface can strategically or mistakenly be frozen with a spell). But, it also allows more casual players to jump in and enjoy the game with the right character class and Explorer difficulty mode.
Amazing work, really. I've played near 200hrs of this game and still missed things and learning new mechanics from this video. Love it, new subscription.
Here's an amazing strategy for the underdark: When you recruit the Myconid, go back to the Bulettes body and use him to reanimate it. That thing will trivialize all other combat in the underdark up until you kill the duergar in the village. If you do this, go kill the hook horrors, then the minotaurs, then the spectator. Idk if you can use it in the tower (it has pathing issues), but itll let you breeze through. It will not trigger any surprise encounters itself, so you can actually clear all the drow statues at the spectator fight. At the village, let it jump from a high place to get onto the ground level, then have it break the ladders, this makes it to where the reanimated zombies have to take the long way to get to your party. After you clear the duergar, pass a few turns to let the zombies kill it, as if its reanimated when the myconid turns on you, itll also be hostile.
If you put a crate/bag in vendors inventory and move their items into the box, you can then switch to another character and double click the box, it will open the box off-screen, you can then close the trader screen and send everything in the box to the camp, no need to knock anyone out or otherwise :D
You can also shift select the vendors entire inventory (not gold) while bartering and then drag and drop it all to your inventory. You pay for the first item selected and get everything else free. I do this after every long camp then sell what I dont want back. Easy items and cash for free.
I just do the box thing, most vendors after the first take and first long rest show their gold, can pop it in, and when closing out of the menu, you can spam spacebar, for ones that do walk around (since that causes the loot tab to close), to transfer all into your inventory@@resignator
Spectacular Video! I have played though on explorer and had problems because I had no idea what I'm doing. The amount of stuff I have missed is staggering. I'm going to play though this exactly the way you did and then try my hand at a few honour runs.
I’m brand new to BG3. Your video is a massive help to me and my daughter navigate the mechanics and adventures ahead. We’re still trying to get off the bloody ship! 😂 But seeing your advice has showed us the way it’s possible. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this guide! I missed so much! The progression of the story was jumbled when I did my first playthrough, but after watching this it felt like a cohesive story! Eat good, Marshmallow!
Thank you so much for this! This is my first game like this and on my first character I completely blazed through act one i started a new character and followed this guide all the way through. This taught me everything i need to know and more! Hopefully i wont need the other two walkthroughs as much as i did this one!
WOW! I did alot wrong… not wrong just completely different than the way to get achievements! Dude what made you go from the trolls to the under dark, after picking up Karlack and not doing her quest until wayyy later! The amount of encounters you did w/ her on that elixir + the x2 soul coins was impressive AF! You did such a great job
I’ve only recently got to act 2. I was so sure I found everything in act 1, but it seems I was mistaken. My second play though I’ll have to refer back to this video. I also can’t waist until I finish act 2, so I can watch your next walkthrough. I wanna try to accomplish things on my own finding before following a guide
1:15:00 for me the new strategy which is destroying the eggs, worked best just sneaking around with Karlach (or anyone with the boots on) and using a bow/cross bow to get rid of the eggs from range. Then when Matriarch Spider Queen is on the webs, hit it with fire bolt cantrip. With this I've beat this fight on Honor Mode at level 3. It was not easy but it was doable.
Thank you for these guides they are top notch. My only critique would be multiple videos around 20-30 minutes specifically so pausing would be easier. (It takes a high skill check to stop on each item while you're hovering over in inventory)
There is another trick with merchants. If you sell them a pouch or bag, you can put everything they have inside it. After killing them, you can loot it with everything inside. Also, if you don't want to kill the merchant like Dammon, you can pickpocket the bag/pouch. However, you need to pass a DC 21 check to successfully pickpocket. Using Astarion or any other sleight of hand proficiency character is recommended.
Thank you for for this video it’s really helped. I messed up my playerthrough (very new to games like this) and I knew I was doing something wrong and watched this and it really helped me find all the things I could truly do in the game. And the amount of story telling I was missing out on
@@alexismerlo4521 I still got the sword off the ground. His minions just didn't "leave shortly after" so that ridiculous fight ensued. And I lost my ogres to the gith 💔
funny little sidequest going down to the temple in the mountain pass section, if you dont take the lift there is a key and beside the key there is a bluejay, if you use speak with animals there is a sidequest to get his nest back from the eagles on the roof
1:54:00 Send Varanna alone to disarm the Githyanki. Once disarmed he will teleport away and you'll be under attack. Grab the sword and run then dash to the stone wall next to the bridge. Drink a second potion of invisibility, climb the wall and run from the combat area until you can flee.
@@ItsShatter The cool thing is this can be a step by step type video OR a checklist video. I am using it as a checklist to make sure I dont miss anything in act 1 but, I can see it being a great guide to follow along with as well. Again, appreciate the content. Will definitely look more into your vids after this one!
Hey there, I don’t think she is proficient with it, but for some reason when she throws it it still deals max/ a lot of damage. Doesn’t work well as a melee weapon though. Thank you for the donation, hopefully this answers your question and let me know if you need anything else!
For anyone who wants to get all trophies/achievements in pretty much one playthrough make sure you choose dark urge. In act 1 quick save before long rests and when you get the event where Alfira turns up at camp load back and go find her and knock her out then long rest. In act 2 quick save when you get to last light in and kill Isobel that gets you the Embrace your urge trophy/achievement In act 3 manual save before going into Bhaals temple and reject Bhaal that will give you the option to get all ending trophies/achievements apart from SINS OF THE FATHER. Just reload the manual save and accept to be Bhaals chosen. In doing this you can still get Dark Urge trophies
When you are going through the Dank Crypt, if you loot all the skeletons first then they wont have weapons to and will be fighting bare handed. You only have to worry about one or two spells after that.
Re Kith'rak Voss (1:54'ish) : When he fails the save and is disarmed/drops his sword he ports out with his dragon immediately without initiating conversation. The hireling is killed while the rest of the party remains invisible. No conversation = no xp and the rest of the npc's remain hostile. the Sword is still on the floor though. Something got patched
