I'm one of the modders (not featured in this video, but part of the modder community mentioned here) and many of us are getting to know the features as of now. Just getting comfortable with the pipeline and learning as we go. We've all essentially chosen a specific focus as we learn that will be polished probably over years... Mine is the feywild. specifically a feywild adventure that starts on an unseelie inter-realm skyship and ends in one of three ways. The goal for many of us, is to mod in a lore accurate extension to the game as is. think of it like small expansions with a main questline, a bevy of encounters, etc. (All planned and in early stages... keep that in mind) ...Mine starts during act two and is locked to saving the pixie in the lantern. Follow the right dialogue and end up ensnared in a seelie vs unseelie plot to make use of the madness the absolute is causing in the mortal realm. I plan to have two possible romance options/recruitable characters (one from the dark fey, another from the seelie) and three ways it can turn out. You can side with either, or play your cards right and it's possible to broker peace between them. The whole point for a lot of us, is that we adore the base game, so we want to add to it... not break immersion. be patient with us because there's a LOT to learn about this engine/these tools. We're currently try to crack how to do in-game cinematics and correctly focus on characters during cut scenes. Once all the tools are laid out and tutorialized for the community, all of us will be much better equipped to do this. Each mod is pretty much being headed by single modders, although some teams seem to be forming. Some cool stuff not mentioned here... 1. while the main focus for all of us seems to be lore accurate expansions for the game complete with act-sized campaigns, there are a few people who have mentioned interest in creating complete standalone games using the engine... COMPLETE reworks. One mention was of 'crown of candy' from dimension 20, and another was of the mighty nein's early adventures from critical role. 2. bringing in assets means people could potentially make complete reworks of things like shadowrun, the cyberpunk ttrpg, and a bevy of other CRPGs. The potential here is endless.
Oh i want to make it clear here... I'm not one of the absolute fucking heroes who unlocked the toolkit lol. I'm just sponging off their work by using it to make a mod I wished was in the game to begin with.
This is insane. Thanks for your efforts! If you want to share any of your progress I’d love to cover it on the channel. Feel free to drop me an email at veteranjoystick@gmail.com 😊
Is there a preferred site/service where one can make monetary contributions to this community? I am sure there are countless people like we who would like to promote/support this. And also i would like to thank all of this community for the time and effort put into this, this is like angel music to my ears :-)
At this point it's not even the matter of "if" as much as "how soon", can't wait for all the cool stuff we're about to see modders so in the coming months (and years)
Those gonna be extremely hard to create, however its still possible with crazy determination and a good team,of course projects like those can take a lot of time.
@@alinmgheorgheAI VO?! Why i gods name would you make an abomination like that when you have both the OG tracks and plenty of fresh voice talent looking for experience?
@@ehd.f4269 Look, i hate AI generated VO as much as the next guy, but sometimes people don't have the resources nor the money to work with VAs so they have to make due with whatever they have at hand, though in this case i agree, why use AI if you have the voice clips from the past games
Modders in every game always amaze me, the passion, the intelligence and the tenacity they got for creating content for the games they love is truly to admire, even more when sometimes the companies put many obstacles in their way. Happily Larian is totally the opposite and I'm sure that modding community will make BG3 last for years and years, and I'll be there to enjoy their incredible creations as long as I can.
2:09 - yes, this one is custom build, however, its super hard rn to build from scratch due to some editor issues/our misunderstanding of the editor,so it was built almost brick by brick(thats why i prefer more nature-style maps for now) but we believe in our coders team! Im sure soon we will be able to use the building techniques, and ill try to make some more city-like maps.
Things to mod in: 1. A real massive forest you can get lost into that really separates de Goblin camp from the Druid's Grove. As it is in the game it's just a 5 min walk in a straight line so it's kind of a joke Minthara doesn't know where the Grove is. 2. A real accurate to BG1 and 2 Viconia / Sarevok instead of the joke we got. It would be cool if when you meet Jaheira you can ask her about past adventures and your input "I thought...." fleshes out which Sarevok/Viconia you get since there could be multiple endings and character arcs for them in BG2.
I'm glad Larian gave us the keys to the house to let us make our own stories with the mod manager which makes it even easier to mod the game, and custom campaigns. I get the feeling that we're going to see some REALLY good shit from the moding community on these campgains within the next year or two.
@@lilithyzara After talking with some of the people who did the unlocking of the toolkit, there was heavy annotation in all the code... meaning it was trivial to unlock most of the toolkit. (It DID take work, but it was left absolutely possible to do by Larian...) Larian obviously couldn't officially release/support the tool due to WoTC's stance on campaign mods... but draw your own conclusions is all I'm saying lol.
@@TheRandomMuffinMan it’s the main reason Skyrim is still kicking today and with how massive the dnd universe is there’s possibly it will last longer then Skyrim is
I want to make fanfiction into custom campaigns. Some of the dialogue in those fics is genuinely good. The number of stories about saving Ascended Astarion from himself is great.
I really hope this allows you to add new locations to the existing game and not just making completely new campaigns, like making BG3 an open world kind of game with tons of new locations.
Can confirm, it does. the whole point for many of us is adding lore accurate, non-immersion breaking, extensions of the game. Basically content which is just available during your playthrough and seamlessly fits in.
I wouldn't feel comfortable if they used AI instead of the real voice actors. Just feels wrong for all the great work they did just to let AI take a sample of it and mock their voices
There are alot of really good softeware that do justice to the voices and sounds seemless getting characters to say new things. Its really not a bad thing in this scenario, since u cant really expect to get voice actors to return for mods.
This took up faster than i expected! Especially nice to hear, that the tools are easy to use (unlike Larian said, when they opted not to release these tools).
My dream quests that I want so badly: - saving Karlach properly - saving Mayrina's brothers at the sutton farm - shadow-cursed lands after Halsin restored them - gith revolution - that can be a whole game in itself!
great video, thanks! I did hear that the toolkit will make custom campaigns possible, but to see people start working on them already and the progress is amazing. Could you perhaps provide the link to the discord server where you can find help with the toolkit?
We have plenty of critters in the toolkit community :) No promises, but it's not JUST been mentioned... There's a modder I know toying with a build of white stone, and gilmores glorious goods.
I pray and I hope that larian doesn't try and stop this not that I think they would BUT Wizards of the Coast might definitely try and stomp it out. I HOPE HOPE HOPE HOPE Wizards of the Coast just doesn't pay it any mind and we can have these custom campaigns. I am PRYING that we get to keep this!!
Give us Curse of Strahd campaign!!!! My biggest long term hope would be 5e adventure modules ported into bg3, hopefully wotc wouldn't work too hard to shut things down.
@@cryptickitsune1876ya weather witc want it or not moderate already have everything they need to expand the game all they can do is make it more difficult
The kraken has been released. Soon we will have complete solutions built on the toolkit for endless community content. Ah the feeling when the WOTC sellouts and their Hasbro corporate masters pull their teeth out at this brings much joy to my soul.
I know the devs have other projects they are working on but there is so much uneaten meat on the BG3 bone there shouldn’t be any starving people in the world. The drow city alone could be its own game.
I'm sure if they raised enough money we could get some really good voice talent or even the original cast for new stories if it was a good story. They are probably staying busy but actors need money. I'm sure if their contracts allowed they'd love to participate under the right circumstances.
Definitely. There’s already a few professional VA’s on the Discord offering their services as well as writers. So this will almost certainly become a reality!
Honestly don’t think that’s even possible now. The tools are out there, I can’t see a way that they could stop the progression of the mod scene now. Sure they could restrict them from being listed in the in game mod manager, but externally it’s surely impossible?
If I had a clue about modding, I would mod in a few of my D&D characters as companions, with their own companion quests, banter with the existing characters, romances (for the ones that make sense), and so much more. I could definitely do the writing (or at least a lot of it), and if I had a better microphone I might even be able to voice act a couple of them, but I wouldn't even know where to start in order to actually mod it in. But man I have ideas flowing faster than I can write it all down. I'm already writing stuff for Firather, my blind nonbinary wood elf shadow monk with lycanthropy. I've got like over 30 pages written for them and have barely even scratched the surface of Act 1 with them! Perhaps once I'm done writing the content, I'll be lucky enough to find someone else who'd be willing to mod it in or teach me how to mod it in myself. Or maybe I'll just release the script online and hope someone else takes off and runs with it. Who knows? But man, dreaming about it's got me so hyped!
there's a mod community just for the toolkit :) can't spread links around like candy to it, but I heavily suggest you search for it. It's got a list of tutorials.
So it could be possible to create custom characters, a new map to put them in, and also a custom game for them to play?... I'm seeing possibilities here
Looking forward to modding every NPC so that they are male and straight! :) finally good gameplay without left wing alphabet propaganda! I am very smart
When I switched from my pretty well-paid but boring and stressful developer & web/graphic designer job to the mighty Club of Starving Artists to comply better with my artistic vein and lazy lifestyle, I thought I reached the bottom of money earning. Well. I was wrong. Welcome good old AOE2 custom maps times. And welcome retirement age and "free" cash. If I manage to survive the next 5 years. Now excuse me, I've just finished building up my party of 7 and need to adequately dye their clothing before I can adventure in my first, hopefully not too easy run. Note to self: learn how to mod difficulty boosts. Nice vid, liked and subscribed. Cheers from Italy.
@@VeteranJoystick I thank YOU. I heard about the builder but didn't imagine we would get something like this. That's insane and has the potential to make BG3 an evergreen for the next 2 decades if not longer. And since I absolutely love creating such stuff, I'm glad I don't have to feed a family anymore ;-)
@@JustARandomFio Yeh it’s insane dude, literally creates infinite possibilities for the future of an already incredible game. I’m so excited to see what geniuses can come up with. If it’s anything like the Skyrim mod scene we are in for a real treat! 😊
@@VeteranJoystick Absolutely! I often brought up the wish, Larian would give us an "endless" mode where we could re-play the game at max level with random encounters and battles not bound to a storyline. And they come with... this. I'm speechless.
kinda getting tired of illithid and dead three want more campaign settings and options. also i always go necromancer so maybe add a quest to become a lich or something
@@lotrichexe4860 What I want to see are smaller story fixes like the option to bring back to life Connor Vinderblad with True Resurrection, Miracle, or Wish. Then on a larger scale new companions.
@@VeteranJoystick it's hard to think that 20 years ago WOTC was trying to rapidly provide new tools, lore, campaigns, ect and now they have to take a piece of everything that comes out. Hasbro turned our loving D&D parent company into a greedy corporate entity and it shows sometimes
what I really want to see is someone to make a mod that removes the skill point system and replace it with mana resource system but that's a pipe dream of mine
@@RenEltor oh yeh for sure dude! I’m not saying it’s impossible (I don’t know either way tbh) but it would definitely be a lot of work! But the exciting thing is it’s just getting started, we’ve only had the tool for about a week! 😁
some smaller stuff will probably be out early 2025. I cannot stress how quickly we're all working on shit... the toolkit is absurdly easy to work with compared to other games.
First it is being streamed second Do you think Things are only relevant Unless it's being streamed? It's like you only Like things unless your favorite streamer Have your own opinion man lol Because you're missing out on lots of great stuff that apparently is not relevant anymore Thousands are playing in multiplayer right now The game has lots Of content since the official release for free This patch alone was over 30 gigs it's got official mod support Which extends the longevity that gained for years to come Just like Skyrim And that game is still being played ported and Streamed To this day because of it
