Omg, yes! When it finally struck me i paused the fight to fully concentrate on the Song! 😁 And you are so right, it made him such a disney-villain like Disney hasnt come up with in decades!😂
A note about the pillars: hitting them with radiant damage once a turn until they’re dead disperses the souls and removes some buffs from Raphael, cutting his damage and making him easier to hit.
Even better: he has a relatively weak Wis save, so Hold Monster will park his ass in place AND allow your melee to auto crit him. Once held, it was simple to deal with the other cambions, and then everyone gathered around Raphael, especially my 22 STR and hasted monk, and well....know that scene from Jojo where they are all stomping on the guy? Yeah, that. Also helps to drop Sanctuary on Hope and just heal with her, just keep her far enough from the fight to avoid any AOEs.
Theres another way to get Helsik to help you. Instead of killing Yugir in Shars Gauntlet you get him out of his contract by finding the last jusitcir and killing him. One night in your camp Yurgir will show up and talk to you about Raphael and tell you to go talk to Helsik. The other bonus to helping Yurgir is he will turn on Raphael in the fight and bam you get another very strong ally.
For the portal, you can distract Helsik with conversation and have your “Rogue” character lock pick and steal everything to open the portal on the first and second floor. To get past the glowing trap in front of the top floor door, give the staircase head some looted frost..wine (can’t remember specific name) on your way up the stairs to the second floor. It will drop the floor trap and let you in to the second floor where you can loot the rest of what you need to open the portal. Don’t enter the basement though. For some reason this created a glitch in the game where I couldn’t switch back to my main character’s conversation with Helsik to end the conversation. I had to reload to a previous save. Sometimes the glitch will still happen. I created a separate save and reloaded that save to “fix” the glitch.
I absolutely trivialized the fight. Used ''Hold Monster'' with Gale, while My lv 12 Paladin, Lae'Zel and Yurgir wrecked him from 666 hp to 0 in 2 turns. He couldn't react. However, I cast Hope's divine intervention while his minions still had the buff of returning radiant damage, and she got one shot. Not worth reloading a 30 roll on charisma to get Yurgir on my side and that perfect no-transformation Raphael just to get gloves that I won't use.
Raph never transformed in my game, he stayed dead after I killed his first form. Also Hopes divine intervention spell killed her every time, they all just reflected the damage back to her as fire damage
Wait! How do you handle the Hell Sphere? You never mentioned anything about that. Im having a difficult time handling it. Killing it would just spawn another. How do you handle that flaming ball?
also if you just make the deal with raphael he gives you the hammer and and voss gives you the sword right there, then you can just go in save hope steal all his stuff destroy the contract then kill raphael. if you're lucky you can convince his huge demon buddy to fight for you against him.
Yeah great idea except for the fact that the Sussur blooms don't work once you leave the underdark. They wilt into petals and are useless thereafter. You DO have the option of using your Sussur bark forged weapon to silence but it doesn't last long and it's only a chance on hit and needs to be continually reapplied. Spells or items that will CC him will work a lot better.
In the treasure room with the staff, above the pile, I saw a golden face that was labeled "portal".. but I couldn't reach it... Anyone figure that out?
I'm running into an issue. I've seen 2 of the items to unlock the secret shop, but she won't talk to me about going to the house of hope. she'll only have an option to see the shop. Does anyone know how to fix this?
fyi if you go to the house of hope before talking to Voss in the sewers he will not be there when you get back :(. No idea how or if I can get my githyanki his sword now
Players really are optimizing the fun out of games. Half the comments are just people measuring their dick sizes and proclaiming how they beat Raphael before getting to any of the interesting parts of the fight. And people wonder why I don't like playing D&D with strangers.
For the portal in the House of Hope, you can actually find all the components to open the portal by searching through everything...I think most of the stuff came from inside the office. I didnt pass the conversation checks, and I didnt want to pay her the gold.
@@apetime9039 I believe most of it was in her office. I invis'd into the office and took everything and when I went back down to talk to her I figured out I had everything I needed except a skull, which I had sold to her so I bought it back and had everything to do the ritual
I didn't sign any contract and promised Helsik to bring back the Gauntlets of Hill Giant strength thereby saving the 20K she charges (I was unlucky with my persuasion rolls). When I came back I gave them to her as promised to conclude our contract. Then I traded with her and could immediately pick up the Gauntlets of Hill Giant strength for somewhere around 400-500 gold.
This is great, but what does she give you as a reward for following through and giving her the gloves to begin with? Anything? Or is it solely to get the items needed to teleport to the House of Hope? If so that's kinda lame. I heard though you can pick up 120k-150k gold from all the loot you get in there so in the end it's probably better to either give them to her and buy em back or decide to keep them afterward.
I just wanted the healing gloves for my monk build. I was worried that by rushing to the South part of the map, it’d fail all time sensitive missions. This was a great guide to know what items I can get. Thanks!
You can get the silver sword of the astral plane early in act 1 at the githyanki patrol if you do command drop on the dragon rider while you don't have lae'zel in your party otherwise she will run up at start the conversation you have to go invis right behind him and it's best to do when no other party members are with you and then do command drop
This ^ I did it with Disarming Strike with a party that had freshly reached level 3, and in tactician mode. Incredibly early legendary weapon. With Command, you can do it even before level 3. Needless to say, it's a perfect weapon for Lae'zel!
If you enter moonrise and then just fast travel to Waukeens Rest you can go through the dialog and start combat but nothing happens. Then you can kill the whole patrol AND the dragon without them going hostile. Def a bug, but easy way to get a bunch of xp and loot.
Cmon don't encourage fighting the incubus that's literary the best sex scene in the game. Plus it gives you a really good insult to throw at Raphael before the fight
For those who don't know, when you kill the NPC for the gloves if they're not in the room you may not get the drop. If you pick up their body and throw it in the room the gloves will appear in their lootable inventory.
Haha lol I actually just did that yesterday :D Fighting Raphael was a very nice and welcome challenge and was a lot of fun. I marched in there with every summon I could use and think off and thus had a small army of like 10-12 characters. I tactically placed those around the room and then fought for like half an hour until I won the fight. Then I saw the loot and totally freaked about about that legendary armor I mean holy shit that is crazy op xD
that staff of spell power is not the best staff you can get from the house of hope. there is another that is even better in a hidden vault in the main circular area. you gotta succeed a roll to see the way in. the staff is called Markoheshkir. Edit: sorry markoheskir is in the sorcerous sundries tower.
the first go-round i pulled off the win, but just barely. i went into the fight completely blind to knowing anything about it and ended up surviving mostly because of lots of potions of supreme healing. but then because it was a challenging/fun fight, i had to do it again and honestly, knowing what to expect the fight was pretty easy. keep everyone in your party grouped together, use either a scroll or the spell globe of invulnerability and then just beat on everyone until they die. my main is a warlock so anytime the enemies got within the globes protection i just eldritch blasted them out. hope also has her banishment ability which can pluck the non-raphael baddies away one by one. haste/speed potions on everybody make things even easier, you just have to be careful not to use another concentration spell on whoever cast the invulnerability.
You can get the astral sword 5 minutes into your playuthrough . U meet Voss and his red dragon at the beginning near the groove. Just go behind him with invisibility, cast command (drop weapon ) or disarm with a fighter and he will drop it. I had this weapon since lvl4 on lae zel .
Fought and killed Raphael in my most recent play-though. Such a good quest line, loved the challenge even at level 12. Definitely going to go at it again on subsequent play-throughs.
In my play through I used a paralysis poison with Astarion focused on Raphael and he was cc’d almost the untied fight. I took a bit of damage from the adds but used the divine intervention on hope for a long rest mid fight. I didn’t even realize he had a transformation.
Right like what’s the prerequisite to get him to go into his form cause I had lae’zel stun him and me and her just kept him on the ground with topple 😂
I actually got him with a hold monster purely because he transformed into his monster form. He went from 200 health to dead in 1 turn from my palalock with the guaranteed crits.
I legit killed raphael in 1 turn with this strat 1.- perilous stakes 2.- hold monster 3.- divine smite x3 4.- action surge 5.- divine smite x3 I legit was flabbergasted at the damage I did, it was like 190-ish per divine smite 💀
He didn’t transform in my fight cuz I didn’t even try to take out the pillars - I trolled him with death warded summons - including minscs hamster. I cast haste on my moonbeam caster so I could ‘move moonbeam’ twice a turn to do a ton of damage + the damage when it’s rafiels. If you have someone with the glyph spell - the sleep 100 knocks out rafiel for 2 turns everytime so you can sneak attack with a gloomstalker rogue build for hella damage. U also can spam the fountain before the fight and cast major level 6 buff spells and get the slot back with out losing the til long rest buffs.
3:11 u can steal a legendary version fo this staff from the amge tower place lorroakan in u use the correct portal to port to him then go to the window then u drop down to level below go in sneak and touch the nroith button to port and u can steal the legendary staff and a chest gotta disable the barriers but nto ahrd if u goit a thief can always destroy them with thunder damage
Raphael is super easy. Grab two druids and spam confusion . 70 percent chance to succeed and you can comfortably auto attack raphael without taking damage after destroying soul towers.
yea, "they" will totally never get those items! how could they, with a bazillion guides on how to get em out there... we dont have em yet, bc we don't rush through the content, only reason.
Bruh I fought harleep, took him down to no health, the fight ended and he's just standing there. I could loop him but no gauntlets, just a key and underwear
Makes a video about secret weapons most don’t find in the game and one of the items on the thumbnail is literally arguably the most story grabbed item in game. Two of the other are the obvious items on display right next to the hammer…
Sadly the monk legendary fists are overshadowed by the house of hope strength gloves. On my rogue after going through the house i reset and put str and con at 8, dex 17, wis 16. With gloves and amulet str and con are 23, dex is 22 with hag hair, ability point feat, and the mirror buff. That, with tavern brawler, gives +14dmg to every fist strike, +3 more with the boots that adds wisdom modifier to unarmed strikes. Thats +17 +whatever manifestation dmg you take, +1d8+6 dmg that comes with a normal dice roll. Thats potentially 40ish dmg per hit. With 3 lvls in rogue for thief subclass, and ki special ability, plus haste, thats 2 actions and 3 bonus actions per turn, which ends up being 10 attacks at 40 dmg each. If you get the ring to add 2 dmg to every illuminated target and the eingcthat adds 2 dmg every time you are surrounded by 2 or more enemies, thats a potential of 440 dmg per turn for 3 turns. And thats without even considering what neck piece or helmet or chest you might be using... Monk is absolutely BROKEN.
@ashdaniels2332 sure you can but you lose out on other stats that are just as beneficial, especially since your main character tends to get into concersations. This allows 14 cha for those speech checks as well. I have not been able to find a setup yet that allows for more dmg than the setup ive put up above
The fight was very fun and challenging! However my way of doing it was basically hypnotize Raphael while i deal with the rest of the enemies and pillars, and when hes alone just pour everything onto him lol. I didn't kill him as i think hes very cool character and didn't know about the armor. Hopefully we see him again in bd4 :)
Another tip you can use deception in Voss to get the sword earlier to retrieve the hammer this way. Also can get him to command drop it early in act 1 if you really wanna cheese the game early.
In case no one's said this already, DO NOT use Hope's Damage divine intervention if Raphael still has his Radiant resistance. Hope will die and be unrezzable since she's technically a summon and not a part of your party. For this reason, I only use her healing divine intervention just to play it safe. If Hope dies you won't get the gloves of soul catching, so best to avoid the possibility completely imo. If you must use her damage intervention, make sure you use Shadowheart's first (or some other source of radiant damage) that way she'll tank the radiant retort blast and be knocked unconscious leaving Hope to cast freely (as demonstrated in the video, actually).
how do you figure most players wont get these items, its literally a main quest you do before the game ends. Your titles are getting progressively more click-baity and they were already pretty bad. Tighten up.
No, House Of Hope is not a main quest, you can literally skip it if you want to. Heck you can completely skip meeting Raphael at the inn too. I did so my first playthrough, he shows up at the very end to offer you the contract then
Very easy fight at mid difficulty (666 HP) My Astarion - Assassin / Gloomstalker / Champion almost killed Raphael on the first round.. that build is the first to hit in any combat anyways so, when my main Paladin-Lock hit just once from what is remaining from Raphael after Astarion, he was gone for good.
Lmao i beat this with convicing yugir, ….. with only 1 character left standing after 😂 but good thing tho you gain yugir as a ally in the final. (Also Raph. never went into his second phase)
I killed him without touching the pilars😂 Karlach, Zel, Shadow, and my Rogue. Did Karlach lock/fighter and shadow Cleric/Fighter but i was 12lvl already had a sword from dragon, trident from the circus and 2h from Gith. The big guy was against me but he had 1hp probably because he mentioned in the dialogue i kick his ass already:). Morover to getting the gloves you can speak to Hope to go with you, but instead she will give you the gloves, even if you kill her sister:) I figuere it out after I killed all🤣😂
Save some money, You don't need to pay Helsik to use the portal! I'm sure someone already said it in the comments but just in case: Go up the stairs and disarm the magical circle in front of the door by giving a Thirsty Statue some water. Then lockpick the door. Once in the ritual room you need to find the 5 items, the skull, the coin, the diamond, the incense, and the marble. They're all in the room in various chests and on tables then follow the video for where to place the items. (You'll also find a snazzy new helm too along the way)
1. You dont need to sign with Raphael to get the silver sword, you can lie to Voss that you signed and get it. 2. In the Devil's fee you dont need to pay or lie or pass skill checks you just give a bottle of water to the skull at the top of the stairs to deactivate the trap and all the items to open the portal are lying around or in chests.
to tell you the truth I started this out with convincing Yugir to fight with me then Raphael killed me in an instant. I found that using Globe of Invulnerability on the party and keeping them inside until I kill all of Raphael's help made this combat super easy, once they were all gone I just circled him with the whole party (Karlach, Lae'zel, Yugir, myself and Gale from afar). I do have a sword of Dual that compels the target to dual with one character which proved a great trick to no allow him to use any magic on the rest of my team. but all in all I think this fight is the best so far because of the music 😁, hope this helped someone
this was literally easiest fight in the game, i just put hold monster on raphael, have laezel and karlachh as fighter. took down 2 adds each in 1 turn lmao then destroyed pillars with range while melee took out raphael with 100% crit from hold monster
when i fought raphael he did not live long enough to transform, i didnt destroy the pillars, i kept tripping him with shadowheart and lea zel, shadowheart is a fighter subclass cleric in my run, so both of them have trip attack and bonus actions, i kept raphael on his back till the trash mobs were gone, then i used brand the weak to make him weak to slash and tore him apart with guaranteed crits and double base damage due to him being "prone".
You can get the silver sword immediately without signing the contract you just have to pass a deception check on voss telling him that you did sign the contract
I did not sign the contract and lied to Voss and got the sword PSA as well if you didnt kill that big demon guy in act 2 you can kill him after the big fight and get his 1h xbow
I’m baffled that I was able to kill Rafael first try and had the big guy join me in the fight. Somehow I had more chances to get the big guy to join me which is a 30 check when the infernal control gem i was not able to get passed with a 20 intelligence check.
i had to use both hopes and my clerics divine intervention to rez party members, heal, and refill spell slots. having to use 2 once per campaign spells to defeat him really might make him the hardest fight in the game. but that made it so we could get the pillars down, and once we got the pillars down he wasnt so bad. plus my fighter killed yurgir before he even got a chance to attack and disappear
