Baldur's Gate 3 - Part 18 

I'm glad Arcolf is warning them off of starting the end-of-act-2 showdown prematurely, but I get the sense the tech issues and scheduling have caused a lot of the party to... forget what's going on in the plot. Totally understandable, Act 2 is IMO the weakest as far as actually narratively conveying what's going on and what's at stake, and there's a huuuuge info-dump coming up that tells all. But spoiler-free recap (this is no new info, just stuff they heard earlier but possibly forgot) TL;DR: -Big Bad Guy can't die. That is a problem Jehira wants to fix. -Magic relic makes him Invincible. His necormancer buddy is looking for it to keep it safe. -Party is like 99% of the way to getting that relic, but shouldn't. Yet. -They need to poke around the tower and investigate the cult, the tadpoles and the kidnapped refugees first. Longer recap: -The Party have come here because all the signs point to Moonrise Towers being the 'source' of the Mindflayer tadpoles. If there's a cure, it's in there somewhere. -Jeheira (BG1 companion) tried and failed to eliminate the cult's general, Ketheric Thorm. He is invicible, in the Omni-man way and also just not killable. -The Towers are a hotspot of quest objectives right now, including but not limited to: rescue the Tiefling refugees, rescue Wyll's father and pay off his debt to Mizora by recovering this "asset" she wants extracted from there. So they need to go and poke around there for more info. -The Party is currently on the trail of "The Nightsong" a mysterious relic (?) that appears to be the source of Ketheric's immortality. The Nightsong, whatever that is, is what's keeping Ketheric untouchable. Continuing on past the end of the Gauntlet of Shar will reveal the how and why of that. And this will trigger a domino effect that locks you into the big conclusion of act 2. This is why Arcolf warned them off doing this. If Ketheric's invulnerability is removed or disrupted, Moonrise Towers will become a warzone, as Jehira and her Harpers are just waiting for their moment to strike. But there's still a few things to do in the towers (including rescuing the refugees and learning more about the cult and the tadpoles' origins) and starting that confrontation early will mean you miss all of that. Hopefully things go smoothly tech-wise going forward, sucks to see y'all having so much trouble with it.
