Another tip on the multi-select, if you have a lot of contiguous items you want to select, you can hold down Right Trigger/R2, and use the dpad or left stick to scroll over all the items and it will select them as you do. It's not quite as fast as kb&m shift-clicking, but faster than pressing RT/R2 for each individual item. And obviously way faster than sending things one at a time. Also with the sight cones, you can see them without being in stealth mode if you hold RT/R2.
Me too. Rpg is my favorit tipe og games and i like these deep CRPGs but im scared of trying it because it has turned based combat and i have fear that i wont like it. Also i have zero knowladge about D&D.
@@joepeglegmorgan3015 well same mate my first baldur gate game 💀 i liked it bcos the story but the gameplay and d&d thingy i dont get it all .. but i love turn base game but this game seems different im hyped and worried at the same time 😂
@@nolimitsplug4967 rpg are my favorit tipe of games. And i love deep rpg s. But this i thin its way to deep for me. I terified to try it since i bought Pathfinder and quit after 1 hour. Even alll the tutorials on RU-vid doesnt help me. The only thing i left i can do is go online and learn D&D. Im sad that i will never experience any CRPG
Holding left on Dpad will toggle weapon set. Extra tip: Under Interactive settings you can change the "End Turn" from press to hold. This will help me because I have ended my turn a bunch on accident. I also found under the mkb interactive settings that you can have "Show Full Tooltips" on always. It says something about showing rules.
Press down on the Dpad while hovering over items or enemies to examine them. Hold down on dpad automatically hides the whole party. Up on the dpad also let’s you jump. Hope this helps
Holding the down button to put the whole party in stealth is such a great help. I was doing it manually by switching to every single character and making them hide via the action wheel. Thank you very much!
Baldurs Gate 3 is a game we look back on for many years and notice the impact it had on gaming in general. This is simply amazing! You guys just get ready. It will blow you mind 100x over! Laughing, Angry, Upset, Evil, everything about BG3 is magical! I’m so excited for you all to actually play this game!
Dang I didn't know you can hold down the down on d pad to go into sneak!! Thats amazing. I've been manually going from each character to put into hide. Haha Thanks for this. Also didn't know about the torch. Learned two new things!! I've been playing on steam deck and it's amazing!!! Have a great day everyone
To solve the bumper issue just always open with LB. The radial wheel switches to the next wheel if you hold the bumper button down. Holding the RB button even for a split second is why it will open to the right of your leftmost radial wheel.
Container organization can be nice, especially once you find a certain chest... as in putting items into them, Not super intuitive, but you open the container in inventory, and then hit R1 to open up the main inventory... then do all the normal selecting or similar to move it into the container. edit to add: additionally, then you can have the container on the redial, and then it open it up to that container... so i organize arrows, potions, etc that way easily. Just be aware that scrolls that wanna be scribed wont pop up in containers.
That old school chat pad though! 😍 I have two myself, one has a busted headphone jack. I was lucky enough to get another just as they stopped selling them. Best controller accessory Micro$oft ever made, and need to bring it back.
Another tip for coop sessions, to ping a location you press R2 -> L2 and then you get a cursor you can move to where you wanna ping with the standard X (PS5 controller buttons, dunno what it translates to for Xbox)
Finally! I've been looking for this forever. How did you find out this? Is there another settings menu and/or website that lists all the Controller controls equivalent to what you can get with Keyboard and Mouse ? Thank you 👌
For the radial menus, take advantage of the way it throws you to one side of your radial menus if you hold or double press each bumper and organize your two most important sets of actions and otherwise non each side with the middle being the more blah non combat stuff
Any idea where to find the inspiration tab? I can see the pips on the character tab but on MnK there is a page, showing how you achieved the inspiration originally. Can't seem to find it on controller.
Is there a way to swap from ranged weapons to melee on controller? Like after you shoot someone with a bow and you want to pull out your sword for an opportunity attack (unless its automatic and I'm stupid) the only way is to select a bonus action with that sword like a pommel strike and then cancel it. I wish there was a dedicated button like on mouse and keyboard
Would love to hear on that issue as well. Losing the AoO in case there is no bonus action available idk how to switch back to melee in order to make use of AoO? Anybody knows whether this is a confirmed missing feature compared to m&k?
These videos have been helpful that Hold A tip has been amazing but also if you can see or are next to w.e you want to interact with, you can press X next to it to see the actions for that specific item, including items on the ground
Also, how do I see my encumbrance weight? I can see my carried weight and the max weight of 250 (or something). On pc, there is a line showing your weight/encumbrance level. Can this be toggled on controller or is it displayed elsewhere?
Does anyone know if the Xbox controller keyboard/chatpad works with BG3? I was thinking about buying one if it would allow me to use some keyboard keybinds as well.
Question: when equipping armor or weapons there's a very useful filter option where you can filter by what you're proficient with. Unfortunately both the back button and close window button are binded to B so when you hit B to go back to your character it closes the whole window. Have you found a workaround for this?
Dear Lari and modders, please give us an option to disable the camera snapping and auto zooming out when making a ranged action in combat, and to disable the camera jumping to a character when I press F1 - F4. It should only jump to them when I double press it. Thank you!
You can search your surroundings by pressing of the a,b,x,y or playstations icons. You hold down the button and it highlights what's searchable in your area
Only irritating thing is I far prefer the inventory layout when you press “I” as opposed to rb then character screen. Wish you could always get the MnK layout
Played with both... I actually think controller is better even on menus when you get used to it. Especially when interacting with merchants. Exploring is better using controller hands down. The active search function by holding down A (xbox) or X (PS) makes it easy to loot stuff. Even easier than mouse and keyboard plus it lets you not miss any items.
Hi. Not sure if anyone else asked about this, but I can't find a way on controller to highlight all creatures. On the keyboard it's tilde (or "grave" in game). This is super useful, but I can't seem to be able to find this on controller...that or if it was a snake it woulda bit me, lol.
If you go into the options menu, in either the gameplay or accessibility tab, you can select whether characters are highlighted (outlined), have a circle at their feet, or both or neither. The options are there for both exploration and combat.
I've seen a feature, then you can hover some terminology with your mouse, with pressed T button, it will add popup with explanation for that terminology. And you can do it recursively. Is it possible to do with gamepad? How?
Not sure if I missed it, but I just discovered illithid powers are a thing when you consume a tadpole but have no idea how to open the menu to place the tadpole in the desired power via controller. Any tips ?
Hope they fix some minor things when ps5 comes out. Like the examine the ground also the extra examine that kb/m has for items/spells within the examine window. Now it just a general examine on kb/m you can hit T again and get more info
Is there a way to access the character approval section with the controller? You can see it in the character sheet using keyboard... but... I can't seem to find it anywhere with a controller.
hi, I’d like to ask, how could I make automatically use of illithid’s flight, cos Shadowheart and my MC are automatically using the flight when I press ⬆️ button on D-pad, but Karlach and Lae'Zel are jumping instead, and it’s very annoying always press LB/RB in action wheel to find this ability, then choose it and after all this actions use illithid’s flight flight ability, thanks in advance!
This might be a stupid question but how do i separate items? Like i have 6 health potions and I want to split them up with my party does anyone know how to do that?
They need to let us change the controller, I want my wheels on L2 and R2 as I use them all the time, I hate having to press L1/R1 regularly on any controller.
Is there a way to use this style controller mode on the steam deck? This method of controller input would be much better then the deck defaulting to keyboard mouse controls with no keyboard or mouse.
how can you tell how much camp supplies you have in total in controller mode? The long rest option doesn't tell you compared to the tooltip in keyboard+mouse mode (e.g. 650/80). I can't swap back to keyboard+mouse because split-screen coop is controllers only
Another thing that is lame with the camp screen is that I press 'Auto' it often manages to find '43' or something similar, instead of finding '40/40' when I have a ton of stuff. @@jaycen
@@haazeMAX yea I saw that too. The selection might be optimized to select based on lowest sum for the price that satisfy the supply requirement rather than the lowest amount of camp supplies. I've saw it even go to 102/80 which was absurd lol
is this the same if played on ROG ally?, im currently playing with a player based input that are pc based--- seem a bit easier i guess than this, but would love to start learning this for when inplay to ps5
Please help is there a way to move items within my inventory I want to put things in my inventory in a specific way like with MKB is that not a thing with controller
How do you enter the Passives menu? My Bardic Inspiration is always triggered when walking around, and I would like to toggle that off so that it asks. Thank you!!
Try going to skill sheet ( inventory) then tab over to the right one or 2 and it shows things like that. When you use the button indicated at the bottom to turn it off, close the tool tip window because it makes it hard to see if it it on/ off/ask every time
@@guardianv5846, thank you for your input! I have done this already so that it asks in combat, but I wasn't able to find this option for passives. I'll look again. Appreciate it!
@@GingerPrimeGaming I don’t see an option to sheath. It’s weird since it’s only minthara but I’ve heard that character in general is buggy. It just breaks my immersion at times when i see her running around greatsword in hand
nay, even it plays well on gamepad, but still it is not a gamepad game and requires mouse+keyboard. some things just impossible to do on gamepad quickly
a deal breaker issue with controller's GUI is not being able to see total camp supply number like you can with the keyboard and mouse. Do you have that issue too, and do you know any workarounds? Want to know total number to optimize my long rests but it’s infeasible to count it manually every time
I totally understand wanting to see that, but I'm in act 3 and there has not been a single moment where I didn't have way too many camp supplies. I will literally never run out and I rest very often. As long as you loot what you find laying around you'll have more. I do recommend that you check most crates and barrels, even the ones that don't show up when you highlight items around you
It should happen by default if your lead character is hiding. Alternatively you can try holding the down arrow to put the entire party into stealth or holding R3.
If you have two or more close/ really close together you can throw it at the ground between them to heal them all but it's best to use the joystick targeting to be that precise
Have you looked at the combat log for this? The last video i saw on this showed that it does show damage when you throw a potion, but that damage is being done to the potion bottle, not the party member@@sub-jec-tiv
Back buttons on Steam Deck workin like a charm. If you’re playing on Steam just go into your controller mapping and add it. If you’re on a console, can’t help ya.
My main gripes: - When opening multiple containers (like at the camp), hitting B to close one will close everything. Super annoying. - After choosing the Move command on an item, the camera locks since the sticks are then used for location and rotational controls for the item. Not sure how they could get around that, but it's super annoying. - Maybe I'm missing something but I'm not able to focus item info to analyze the details like you can with KB by hitting the T key. You can click R3 to toggle them off and on, but that's all I can see. - I wish there was a way to map turn-based combat to 1 button instead of having to to use the R-trigger radial menu to toggle it.
