Bought a McHale C460 a few years ago for feeding silage and bedding straw. Great machine - used every day Nov-Apr. would highly recommend

Been running a Tegle tommahak for 7 years average 1500 bales of silage and 500 bales straw for bedding we did a lot of comparing before purchase ie kuhn kv mccale and tarrup but tegel won it over for us. Strength of build flexibality McHale came close but the extra blow length from tegle was superior now the mashine is payed for in straw savings alone. We reckon in the first year min 250 bales less used due to chopping. We bought the full spec with bluetooth joystick and never had a problem, running on a ford 7840. We run a 550f McHale baler and from Ireland so honest opinion.

Some machine oil on the knife should keep it rust clean in storage. Maybe look into one of those bale sausages. Easy way to do a clamp. Feeder/bedder also would help with productivity 👌🏼

Your baler looks very much as though it is a copy of the Welgar which are excellent balers. 60 bales and hour on silage is a doddle

Welger, then Lely took over, followed by the MF/Fendt AGCO merger. To be fair MF/Fendt have held onto the majority of the original Lely design and strong points. The hook on the rear door is a massive advantage in both the fixed chamber & belt balers. Yes McHale are good too, but a Lely design baler is alot easier to drive. Kuhn balers are getting popular too, their pickup with integral auger rotor is some job, again a design feature kept on from the original Vicon /Deutz balers in the late 90's.

Dont sand the knife they will do 10000+ bale then reverse and use the other side it its all down the the brake adjustment.

Do you guys have any problems with hares and rats chewing on the silage bales when stored? Occasionally here in Sweden those critters damage the feed when hiding amongst the bales during the winter months.

Pest control company visits the farm regularly and is always inspecting the silage area for this reason, they do a great job

You might have blunt it ive done 25000 bales and never touched the blade on my mf4180, i use cheap net too, if its not cutting you need to tighten the brake so the roll stops quicker, also i adjusted the netter timings in the box, your mower should have a lever on it for changing blades our krone does

Lely mf or fendt are scap balers n new models are total trash mchale is number 1 for a reason just like there rapper s 😅...all Irish gear is top quality 👌 stuff mchale over tanco to rapper wise olly lad 👦 regards from Irish viewer
