There is a small battery pack for each blind. You can choose a wand battery pack with replaceable lithium ion batteries or one that is USB rechargeable. We switched to the rechargeable ones last year and have only had to recharge them a couple of times! That is what I would recommend.
For us, we have recharged 2x this past year. Our blinds move to several different positions daily. We are glad we made the switch to the rechargeable ones. Lithium ion batteries are expensive, and we found that if one battery in the wand drained quicker than the others, all of them needed to be replaced. Recharging is much easier and cost-effective.
