The leftover hay may be intentional. Perhaps they put cattle on the field immediately after collecting the bales.

you got the rake set to wide! the windrows are MESS ! your leaving A LOT of hay in the field. close the rake for heavier crop, make the windrows as wide as the baler intake.

Yes I agree but I put cattle in that paddock the next day and also had enough hay in my shed.. Thanks for your comments.

Never seen such a mess , you spend all that time mowing it then leave half of it on the field ,unbelievable .

Thank you for your comment. I find by leaving hay behind aids in the soils organic levels. Within weeks it had broken down and the grass has responded.If it was all picked up I would of perhaps gained 2 or 3 extra bales.
