The tractors in this video are
McCormick CX100 - Kuhn Rotary Rake
John Deere 5100M - John Deere 550M Baler
John Deere 6220 - Gator Gooseneck
McCormick X6.430
John Deere 6210 - Krone Disc Mower

That is one slick way to put up hay! The trailer ball on the 3 point hitch is brilliant.

Forget the baler, I’d like to have that 6220 loader tractor. I want an open station loader so bad lol. I think it’s a lot easier to see out of

We had a rotary rake when i was a lad. Switched to a folding ground driven rake on a caddy and never looked back. That rotary rake was a pain. Don't remember the brand. They ever have a problem with theirs binding up?

How do you know when to stop the baler to release the bale?
@colinhepworth7920
@colinhepworth7920 2 года назад
There's an electronic control panel / monitor in the tractor where you can set the bale size, see how the bale is forming and it keeps a bale count for the field and total as well as other information.

That's an old school round baler.
@grantgood8456
@grantgood8456 2 года назад
With all the technology we have, why do round balers STILL go right behind the tractor. Why cant it be offset so you dont have to drive over the rows?
@lambfarms7894
@lambfarms7894 2 года назад
I think the main reason they’re underneath the tractor is to help keep the bale equal shape. Not sure though. Allis Chalmers made a roto baler that was offset.
@Ben-fk9ey
@Ben-fk9ey 2 года назад
My best guess is that it might get a bit dodgy (or moreso than usual) baling in slopes. Also if you had an offset baler then the rows would always need to be a certain distance apart to have room for the tractor. Then you'd have to use a specific size rower and then if the rows have to be x width then you might be pushing too much grass into the baler making the process slower.

Most farmers that feed hay tend to use 5 ft balers...
@nalley6815
@nalley6815 Год назад
Since when? Some parts of the country use 5’ some use 4’ and won’t ever use a 5’
@farmingforfunandprofit940
@farmingforfunandprofit940 Год назад
@@nalley6815 WELL i can only relate to what i see...... We are in business of selling Hay..... 4 ft bales fit our program as the bale of choice to those horse owners that want rounds but lack equipment to handle them, and our primary objective of speed in baling, hauling,(5ft bales overhang flatbed trailers)storing (vertical on end) and converting to 21 bale bundles that we supply by contract to a Nationally known farm supply stores in our radius of operation....... My videos are arrainged in playlist form
@nalley6815
@nalley6815 Год назад
@@farmingforfunandprofit940 of course you’d use 4’ for selling hay. You’d lose money selling 5 footers. And it depends on if you make baleage or not. I’m gonna start making baleage. A wet 5x5 sure is heavy…
@farmingforfunandprofit940
@farmingforfunandprofit940 Год назад
@@nalley6815 Shucks ..... We lose money selling 4x5 rounds! A 4x5 round sells in our area for $85.00 that same 4x5 converted to a Bale Baron 21 bale bundle goes for $168.00....Since June of last year, when we swapped out a 200 Bale Bandit for a 5250T Bale Baron we have sold over a 1000 bundles.....

@kyleboaz1055
@kyleboaz1055 2 года назад
If I had to say, it’s the fact that the equipment isn’t pushing 40-50 years old. More modern tractors, baler, rake, etc.
@lambfarms7894
@lambfarms7894 2 года назад
Exactly, tractors from the 80’s are even considered old school farming now. Too many computers on these new ones lol
@willhorting5317
@willhorting5317 2 года назад
@Lamb Farms and @kyle Boaz I see. I guess that explains why I didn't understand what was meant by "old school". I myself am old and retired. And the newest farm machinery that I ever used was new in the mid-1980s.😁 And the oldest was new in the 1950s.😁
