Round baling and wrapping alfalfa grass mix for baleage for our dairy cows on our upstate New York dairy farm. #farming #dairyfarm #agriculture #silage #hay
Great Video Mike, Interesting that you can leave transporting the bales for a later date, there are obvious benefits during hay season, thanks for sharing
Bet the cows will eat that like candy… about how many bales can you wrap before you switch it out? I like that one man operation you don’t need to stop to wrap it… it’s self contained… Great video.
Nice seeing it wrapped up... 😉.. get yourself a small bracket to hold the remote made up in your pivot steer in a handy location so all you need to do is press a button and not aim and shoot all the time.. surprisingly a big difference ones it done 😊.. Great vid sir.. stay safe 🏴
Great job they'll make nice balage 👍just got to watch the wrap when u move them 🤞in the future might be worth looking into putting a knicker on the wrapper so when it drops the bale will turn into end make it easier to pickup (if that make sense)and maybe in future if one of the kids are interested you could bale and they could wrap saves alot of time Take care have a good week 👍👍
Ultimately I wanna wrap everything back at the farm. I just wrapped in the field due to the rain coming. As I bale it will probably be one of the kids to load them and start taking them back to the farm
Had to rewatch the part and you said the final countdown. Looks like there were a few shooting stars in the sky. But was something reflecting on the glass. Caught me off guard. 👍
Ya got to adapt when you have to. Fortunate to borrow some help on occasion. The big thing here is that you get them baled and wrapped before it rains. If it is 100° like I suspect it is the day you baled it is very nice to stay out of the hay mow. Good looking bales..... Now LED's on the loader in the future??
Right about now I know you are thinking hard about having a QT loader with 3rd function for one of the tractors! It sucks when you have a "main" loader down. As to the wrapper, if it fits, it goes! No reason to wish for a bigger tractor. Great video, Mike! Baleage looks good, and I know you will be careful moving it after wrapping. Those bales can be squishy on the hugger after they ferment. Hang in there! 👍👍
Our one salesman brought up an inline wrapper when we were throwing around ideas because we want to wrap everything back at the farm. I'm glad we went this route cause we can feed individual bales now without opening up the whole roll and we can sell individual bales. Also I have the flexibility to take this to the field like in this video
Different tools for different jobs or operations. My job uses inline as well, because we have plenty of cows to feed when we open a line. Single wrapped bales seem to be better ( they have less spoilage) from my experience, but everyone has a different situation.
Nice n tight compared to our 648 newholland. Not saying anything is wrong with our baler, it could be the type of hay as well that enables a tight bale to be made.
Interesting but I am sad for you because I have seen these bale wapers that pick the bale up and set it on to looks like you need a extra hand their for running the tractor
No one is in the tractor. Once I turn on the control box and set everything then the wrapper is run by remote in the cab of the loader. We got that so only 1 person has to wrap
How did you like the flavor seal wrap, we just finished up our last pallet of it and we won’t be getting it again any time soon. If your wrapping in the sun or in a hot day it liked to just rip apart made it very frustrating to me. Just curious if we just maybe got a bad batch of it. How do you seem to be looking it? Great video
Sunfilm seems to work well, but I have seen a black 3mil wrap (forgot the brand) that is really tough stuff. I think the black is more for inline wrapping of dry hay/straw though.
