The RR on the second hand is one of my favourite parts. To each their own. Amazing watch.

They blow away anything within 500 bucks. However, they should offer included, a lifetime tritium recharge to the original owner.

I’ve come really close to buying a ball but I wish they had a more tapering bracelet without polished center links. I also don’t like branded counter weights on the second’s hand.

I love the RR on the second hand. It separates it from other watches.

It’s 80,000 a/m, equivalent to 1,000 gauss. The video says 80,000 Gauss (2:05)

Top brand. I have the Ball World Time (one of the most elegant available) and a 90's Trainmaster Racer chrono. I have had others in the past. None have ever disappointed. It's like knowing a best kept secret, at some point others will catch onto the brand.

The reasons are very simply: 1. It's an originally American brand which turns off the watch snobs 2. They aren't making overly complicated and/or overly expensive watches which turns off the watch snobs 3. Their marketing budget is not as high as Cartier and Rolex and if your favorite drill rapper isn't wearing it, neither am I. Kidding kidding. But I DO enjoy the RR on the seconds hand. They do give that old school luxury pocket watches look to me which Ball does incredibly well across all their models. I get how it's a hit or miss for most people tho. I wished that it was an option.

I was very close to purchasing a Ball buti've been reading quite a few posts on reddit about how this company is a bit shady and secretive about where they produce their watches. Apparently their address in Switzerland is too small a building to be a manufacture and their other address is a HK company which owns them and other watch manufacturers. Not against chinese manufacturing but not when its at swiss prices. Anyone else have any information on this? Just google Ball watches made in china and roam around the subject on the web. See if you feel the same about it.

Love Ball watches. They have some really "out there" designs, but some others are absolute home runs. I actually like the RR counter-balance, gives the watch a "classy" look, in my opinion. Can't say enough good things about the tritium tubes.

i agree on all fronts. i got one for the first time a couple of weeks ago - a roadmaster pilot gmt, got it pre-owned in near perfect condition for 50% retail which was a steal so i jumped on it. amazing quality and beautiful wrist presence. i was a bit apprehensive about the tritium, but it looks stunning in the dark - extremely legible and the tritium numbers stand out in yellow which is lovely. keeps great time (+2s) and is a full traveler's gmt with some unusual features like the local hour pushers, water resistance of 300m with a glass caseback. the more i've worn the watch, the more i've become attached to it - and i think i'll keep it, i'm starting to wear it every day over my omega seamaster. stunning and lightweight due to being largely titanium. functionality of a gmt master ii (including the 2 tone bezel) without anyone confusing it with a rolex homage and without the unwanted rolex cachet of "i'm rich and want you to know it in a low key way". however, ball are pretty notorious for some nutty decisions. the watch i have has a chapter dial which divides the hour into 72 "minutes" instead of 60, which is just insane and it makes it hard to work out if it's, say, 28 or 27 minutes past the hour. the vanguard which is also a lovely looking watch divides the hour into 48 "minutes". ahahaha what were they thinking?!

I really like the Engineer II Moon Calendar. However I had hoped for a longer hour reserve than 38 hours at this price point.

What surprises me about this watch are two things about their new inhouse movements. 1. This one has a 42-hour PR but the Outlier which uses the same movement has an 80-hour PR? 2. Ball has started using silicon balance springs on some of their engineer series. Wondering when they'll start using them for their GMT/other inhouse calibers?

I've been close to buying a Ball many times but I can't stand the polished center links and male end links. It should be common sense that if you want to appeal to a wider variety of wrist sizes you should not use male end links. And it shouldn't be difficult to offer both brushed and polished center link bracelet options.

Ball are good value & can be easily found with a big discounts, the reason though is that most of them are pretty ugly & gordy in my opinion. The one featured here is good looking by Ball standards

I think their watches are amazing for the price. But I just can’t do it with tritium that will be pretty dim in 12 years. I’m sure that’s a big reason for others too.

I think the RR counter balance differentiates Ball from other brands as it’s the only dial with that design.

I will never buy a Ball watch until that ugly wort of a RR counter-balance is gone from the seconds hands. Ball knows the RR as a proud statement from the past. But Ball can find a better way, a better way. For crying out loud, a much better way! Ball still has it's heritage, history, and great story to tell. Tell it without putting it on the seconds hands, please!!!!
@roamy3605
@roamy3605 Год назад
Thanks Guy: You hit it on the head about the one negative aspect. I've always hated the counterbalance RR on the seconds hand of all the Ball watches. And this has been going on for over 10 years and I know they make some really nice watches. I don't know what it is but Please Ball, get rid of it. Besides that, and to me That is a big one, the rest of this watch looks so good and I know the value is there. That blue GMT is the bomb!

I am not happy with this company and its product at all. I bought this watch [Engineer iii GMT] which had technical problem only 3 weeks after I received it! Contacting their service and clarifying the shipping and repairing process took amazing 8 weeks!. Now 4 weeks after I sent the watch, I haven’t received any information about the status of my watch. I should stick with mayor and well known watch companies to avoid loosing time and money with small and not well known companies.
