Have 2 watches with tritium tubes, a Ball Red Label GMT and a Marathon GSAR. It's nice to be able to read the time in the middle of the night if you wake up. Never have to worry about charging them. And in the middle of the night, when your eyes have adjusted to the darkness, they are very bright.
Great review! Thanks for the information. Looking at purchasing the Engineer III Legend II directly online to enjoy the perks. Can I know did u hv to pay expensive custom tax for your purchase to be shipped to Msia?
I actually like having a hidden bracelet release button in this elegant watch, the release button is similar to the Rolex Day-Date and older Datejust models. But it will be a deal breaker if I see it on a sports watch.
Why did Ball give such a excessive discount? Was the discount just for this watch or was it for all the watches? I know the discount ended a few years ago but is this something Ball does every year or was it a one time thing?
Tritium for watches has always been misleading because it is never as bright as you see in the advertisements. It will never be as bright as charged lume, but will continue to be very bright throughout the night. That will always be disappointing to any first time buyer. People get hung up on the effective lifespan of tritium. Chances are, if you're spending this kind of money on a "watch enthusiast" brand, you're probably buying and selling watches all the time. You might not even have the watch by the time it reaches it's half-life.
I have to agree with what you said. To be honest, this was the first watch I have with Tritium lume and my decision was made after it was advertised of how much stronger it was compared to regular charged lume. I won't say you can't read the watch at all but definitely loses to the brightness of my Seiko SKX007. Luckily I don't just lvoe the watch for the lume as it is made out of pretty good quality material. Anyway, I love meeting new people to have discussions like this so (without trying to sound like begging), I'd be honored for you to subscribe or leave a comment on my other watches i've reviewed. Cheers! PenangWatchGuy
Hey! Thanks for the question. I had to look both up and here's my opinion. The Deepquest has amazing lume, one of the best i've seen for amy Ball watch. Unfortunately i hate the extended crown. It looks like a weird extension of the watch and i dont want it snagging on my jeans when i put my hand into my pocket. The all steel look is also pretty boring to me. The Marvel looks almost like my engineer 3 legend that i reviewed. It looks good except that the indices are a bit bigger and thicker than the hour and minite hands. Its my opinion but i prefer the sizes to be a bit more symmetrical. I havent looked at the movement but that's pretty much what i have to say just from the outlook. 😊
@@PenangWatchGuy If I'm not mistaken, deepquest using RR1101 while marvelight RR1103. Anyways thanks for the opinion. I will go see the watch in person and try it before buying .
Thanks for dropping by! Please let me correct myself. The tritium on my watch is a light blue and in a dark room, you can definitely read it with no problems, however it is nowhere near as bright as SuperLuminova. My advice if you want to get a watch with Tritium, try to get one that has a bright color, like green or orange or red.
@@PenangWatchGuy Green and yellow is the best colour (brighter) for tritium vials. Orange intensity quite dim i would say. Unless if the watch has 'T' (T100) rating instead of T25, then the vials colour intensity will slightly 'pop' more.
