Go and score 5 goals using only the driven cross, then after the match check your shots and xG (Expected Goals). They both will show 0. You made 0 shots and your expected goals was 0.0 - yet you have 5 goals. Now you understand why goalkeepers do such stupid animations in these examples - they aren't even registered as regular shots. Yes flick up with R3 is enough, I've done it plenty of times with Haaland when he was just a 3-star skiller. As long as the driven cross is hitted as a volley ball then it has good likelihood of becoming a knuckleball. According to EA's own pitch notes knuckleball shot happens when your player is 0.67 meters or 2.2 feet from the ball (and you trigger the kick at that exact distance). Ball roll sombrero is good at achieving that distance. However it often comes down to luck, you won't get it every time.
It's hard to figure out what these buttons are for keyboard, since the game does so poor work in explaining the controls. EA's FIFA just isn't made for keyboard + mouse. I also play on PC, but I use a PlayStation controller. I highly recommend investing into a controller if you play FIFA regularly. I've tried to play with keyboard but it's just unplayable especially if you want to be competitive in any manner. It's 1000 times better with a controller. Also for example driving games are very nice with a controller, because you can steer precisely with the analog stick. A controller is something that you won't regret getting, especially for FIFA.
