something is rlly funny about being put off by the 1st outfit cutting the leg lines and then immediately putting on an outfit that is entirely made up of horizontal lines that chop up the leg line like crazy
To me, it makes her look like an oddly proportioned giant. Gives the illusion of a very tiiiiiny torso set directly on top of a 17ft tall pair of legs with no waist.

I agree on the leg line. NO. But the tights on top- no, no, no. Cuts the line worse than the low leg line, by cutting your body in half. The cut off tights also cut the leg line. The leg warmers are cute, and I like the arm covers too. Leotard 10/10. Color is great, and super agree on the neckline.
Yeah I love how she talks about not cutting the line but the second outfit cuts the leg line much more 😂 the leg warmers cut it with the stripes and the tights that stop before the leg warmers cut it too. So there is lot more cuts in the visual line in the second outfit 🥴

I respect opinions and I'll admit it's subjective but I will not get the tights over leotard. They're sheer and giving "leggings with underwear accidentally visible" and the front seam just looks like it isn't intended to be seen.
As a nurse the second set of 'tights' look like the net pants/underwear we use to hold continence pads in 🫣 But, everyone should feel comfortable so should wear what they want!
I'm glad you said in your opinion, because all I see on the second one is a bunch of horizontal lines that obscure the body and create so much visual noise that as both a dancer and a teacher I see a distracting nebulous shape, whereas with the traditional look I can see where all of your joints are and your line is not distracted by artificial lines in your clothing. My recommendation for a compromise would be tights under your leotard, but a camisole leotard instead of short sleeve (dramatic backs are tons of fun, as are bright colors), and solid colored warm ups. This creates less distraction and fewer horizontal lines that turn you into a stack of slices, while still keeping the color and more mature leotard lines.
But when you’re a professional pretty much NO ONE wears tights under the leotard any more. And it’s way more comfortable over. Plus it means you can take off your tights and swap out for shorts or something really easily without having to go to the bathroom or changing room to change. Might not be super flattering but it’s definitely way more comfortable and functional.

What I CAN'T comprehend is how anybody could think that it legitimately LOOKS better! 🥴 Like, if you prefer the way leotards look with pants over them, you'd be better off wearing leggings! (At least that way it wouldn't look like you put your undergarments on last! lol)

@@EggsandHam-xg2bs Having thights under leotard gives you wedgies and is annoyingly revealing when having to lift legs, bend forwards etc. Obviously it looks prettier than tights over leotard but comfort is a lot more important than looking good in my opinion.
Agree! Plus I always have the issue of the crotch dropping when I wear anything that's supposed to be tight. At least the leotard helps hold that area up when the rights are on the inside
Well, I agree, everyone should wear, whatever they feel comfy in. To me personally the first outfit looks classy, professional and beautiful, for every age. The second outfit confuses me a bit. The leotard looks more like a normal undergarment, the super short, see-through tights look like the throw-away incontinence panties we give to our patients, and they cut you right in half, and the candy-floss-coloured striped jacket and leg warmers look like something from the children's section. It reminds me a bit of someone who tries to dress up as a ballet dancer, but doesn't have any ballet clothes. But my ballet days are long gone, and you wear whatever you feel good in.
I will never understand people thinking that tights over leotard is more flattering. I'm not a dancer, but it just baffles me every time dancers think they look better with their leotard peeking out from under their tights. And that seam right up their vagene. I don't get it. I'm sure it's more comfy, though, and the bathroom is more convenient
Sorry, unbiased opinion but first looks better. Could be improved for sure but its far more flattering and graceful. I like warmers though. If maybe they could be combined and matched with first look it would be cute 😊
I checked her responses to previous comments and she said she is serious. If that was a lie then.. thats just mean and the video is pointless. If what you are sayimg is true I hope she realises it not even funny and doesnt do it often. People in comments usually dont have bad intentions and I think its not okay to try to make a joke out of them.

The colors of the 2nd look, looked so fun but the tights over the leotard did the opposite of what you were going for. It cut high as if cutting you in half, made your torso look mush shorter, and the bright white made the body chop even more prevalent. I love the leg warmers though.
The point of a high waistline IS to cut your torso short, because then half of that length is attributed to your leg "area". People with long torsos but short legs are recommended to wear things with high waistlines for this reason. I agree that the colour is a crime though - black tights, even if still sheer, would've worked better, even on top of the leo.

You do you fam, but personally I'm not a fan of the tights over leotard. I don't like the way the leo peeks through the sheer tights. I don't dance, but if I did, I think I'd go for tights under the leotard, or better yet, wear one of those ballet skirts
I'm not a fan of it either. It made me even more conscious of my body than I already was when I did ballet as it really showed off my belly. Tights under looks more elegant, though less practical if you'd like to go to bathroom 😂
@@sssophie9292 yes. However, I've found that removing tights over the leo is easier than under. I found that tights clung to my skin more when under the leo because of sweat. Over the leo, they didn't cling to my hips and waist, which made them easier to remove.
I will always wear my leo over my tights in class but for some shows like the one i’m rehearsing for right now, I have a lot of quick changes so I would wear my tights over aslong as you can’t tell.
The amount of cope is insane. The tights do nothing bc they're sheer so ur silhouette isn't helped and it just kinda looks like underwear. I'd probably opt for the first look (lesser of two evils) or some solid color tights
With 2, the middle seam on the tights is very unflattering! It's in the same category as camel toe. And that plus the contrast from leotard to legs with the leotards lines, and then the waist band of the tights. It's just waaaay too busy with those shapes. I can't even focus on the shaping of the body, im distracted by all the contrasting lines.
I prefer two but with the tights under the leotard because (in my opinion) it being over kinda makes you look like you have bad posture untill you dance.
Right? I don't understand this. They don't cover the legs, and they go over parts of your body already covered by the leotard. How functional is it to cover two inches of thigh? And how does having a horizontal line at your waist, at the top of your thighs, at the mid thigh, and then all the way down the legwarmers accentuate the leg line? I'm just confused why you would do this to tights at all.
I love that in my dance class (adults) we see a huge range in dress and expression (although I have been credited with making it fancier as I LOVE dressing up for class and it seems to inspire others to wear things that make them happy too). The skirts are what make me swoon though! I have navy, pink, green, purple ... and I have plans for many more! 😂❤ In the end, whatever is practical and beautiful to you is what is right for class! ❤❤❤❤
For those not keen on wearing tights over the leotard (like me), the low leg line can be commonly fixed through use of a wrap around skirt, which then brings the line back up to the natural waist 😂
Both options make me feel uncomfortable... it looks like you're in your underwear I don't want you to feel bad though. It's just that solid non-see through tights make more sense
Lmaoooo solid tights while in class or on stage are what no ballet dancer wears because your legs look short. Tights are underwear and you are covered with your Leo
Okay- here’s what I’m thinking… are the tights necessary? The second outfit could actually be rather cute without it or changed. The top part- gorgeous! But then when you get to the tight shorts over the unitard and then the leg warmers it’s all wrong 😂 I think either the leg warmers by themselves or the tights underneath everything or no leg warmers at all would be much better
You do you but personally that specific look is giving laundry day. Good tips though. I'm not a dancer but personally think the leg warmers over tights in shoes would be a better look. I personally think the tights look better under the leotard. It might just be the short tights over the leotard.
Dance fashion is so different than normal fashion. I started wearing stuff as an adult that probably would've been considered atrocious, but as a dancer, it was giving
i’m a dancer and i lean towards the first option, of course it is opinion, but i wear tights under the leo but i do roll up my tights to my ankles so they are not under the shoe. i also just find leos that work for my body type, usually mid cut with a slight v neck.
My favorite thing to wear (I'm a tap dancer) in the winter is some nice baggy pants, a moveable t-shirt with a sweater over top. Or once it starts getting warmer running shorts and a t-shirt. My teacher is beyond lenient and i love it
I think that if I wore my tight over my leo to my ballet class, my teacher would probably spend 15 mins of the lesson asking me why the heck my tights are over my leo and not under😅❤
I love the second outfit: not because that’s what I’d wear but because she likes it. We dress within the context of work, school, play… but style is strictly personal. Very cute! Very fun! 🔥
As an ex ballet dancer the second outfit is way more comfortable to dance in. I used to dance in the first option and i always felt awkward and it felt weird on my body. Ik its not what peiple think of when they picture ballet but its very practical
everyone is entitled to their own opinion but #1 is fully giving me flashbacks to Mommy and Me classes. as a ballet dancer, #2 is a million times better. the leotard color and cut is flattering, while wearing tights over gives your lines length and makes your legs look longer. having them be cut off allows the muscles in your legs show through, while still keeping some modesty and blurring that area, and the waistband of the tights can act as a guide for men to use if doing any partnering. nude shoes also elongate your legs, and the matching set is adorable and functional. its also just way more fun to wear color and patterns and have some variation in your clothing rather than the strict uniforms most of us are used/forced to be wearing
I began ballet a few years ago in my 30s, and although I have a few solid-color leotards (fuschia, red, light blue, and black), I also have leos in prints and various designs. I like those a lot better and they actually give me confidence to dance better in class.
I do prefer to wear tights and a leo but I love to experiment with different warm ups, the knit shorts and sweater are great and I like my ripstop pants when my calves are sore
First is very neat and beautiful, cohesive which is in line with traditional ballet. Second is funky. If you don’t like classical ballet and you like more of a free flowing look, then yes
Your opinion is correct. Clothing or where you place the waistline will alter the appearance and create a visual impression of longer legs if the waistline is higher.

oooh 😍 yesss! i wish i had known more about how to dress for ballet class growing up, i think i would have felt a lot better about my technique lol (which wasn’t too awful, but i am a short gremlin with very little to work with in terms of creating “lines” 😂)
If the tights were black, I definitely agree that 2nd is better! Something about the white tights being see through does throw it off for me personally (but LOVE the striped set!)
It’s not a joke. Watch every other video and reel on social media. All the dancers are wearing their tights over the leotards! I think it’s some subtle form of finding autonomy and creativity in a dance class where everyone looks the same.

Thats so true. I don’t really like the dress code classes. My school is not really strict, I can wear warm ups or a shirt/shorts over my dresscode Leo or something, but still, I have so many beautiful leotards but can’t wear them that often, because the color doesn’t fit the dresscode.
as a ballet student unfortunately i HAVEEE to wear the first option cos my teacher is quite strict on attire but the second option is what i would wear if we could wear anything bc comfort is important 😭😭😭
Yep! 1993 is about right! It’s time to ditch the shoulder-length sleeves though. There’s nothing less attractive (except tights over leotard. That’s the most hideous style we have these days.) There are so many beautiful and varied shoulder styles and straps, these days: long sleeves, three-quarter sleeves, spaghetti straps, even tanks are better than shoulder length sleeves.
i quit ballet a few years ago but i definitely would’ve had a much better time if we could’ve worn combinations like the second one lol the first option was almost exactly what our uniform was and it gave me horrible dysmorphia + i felt my dancing looked so much worse. the second option seems like it would be so comfortable and fun to wear
