Ballet Barre 11 (Online Ballet Class) - Dutch National Ballet 

I am from Bulgaria and I am an astronomer, I work in a planetarium. I have never been a ballerina and I am almost 60 years old. Every morning I listen to your videos. I don't look what movements you show. I just listen to the music and do gymnastics, and jump, and run and dance for 40 minutes. It helps me so much and gives me energy for the whole day. Thank you very, very much!!

I will miss your classes but I am so grateful to have had this experience with you both. This was without a doubt the best online class I have been able to find. Clear explanation of exercises, connections between the exercises, wonderful music and wonderful musicality. Good luck to you all moving forward during these uncertain times. Love from Portugal.

I was a rhythmic gymnast for 12 years. Now that Im older I decided ballet could fit me better. Your videos helped me fall inlove with ballet during the corona virus period and now I deffenitelly know I want to persue it in the future. Thank you very much for all the videos! I am from Brazil, and my mom and I are not professional dancers but love ballet and take ballet classes together. Once we were quarentined she said she had found the best class online, with a wonderful pianist and a very good and polite teacher. We are terribly sorry there won't be any new classes, we will miss them so much! We are thankful for learning from you, for having such a wonderfully planned class, and for Rex's beautiful music! Glad things are getting better there! Hoping some day in the future you will film a new class, just so we can "matar saudade", which in portuguese means something like "stop missing it". Please leave the classes on youtube so we can do them again!

Thank you so much the Dutch National Ballet for giving us the wonderful classes taught by Ernst accompanied by live music from Rex. These were truly superb and reunited me with ballet after many years of status quo. Ernst, you were by far the best teacher on RU-vid and the most accessible. You made complex combinations look easy and most of all you helped people like me who did ballet for many years in their youth and have good skills, albeit perhaps rusty, able to dance again. I personally find classes taught by ballerinas rather intimidating as I am not able to stretch my leg behind my head whilst technically proficient. Your inspired classes were a breath of fresh air and didn't rely on a display of plunging arabesques or suppleness thus making me resume regular ballet and rediscovering that years of ballet were not done in vain. I will continue to train few times a week with you replaying the 11 barres and 3 centre classes for weeks to come. And I will be enchanted to be a spectator of the Dutch National Ballet when it performs in London in the future and give back what you, Ernst and Rex, have given me. I've been taking all of your barre classes over and over, and also your center class. I love how each class progresses from the last. I love the beautiful music, the well connected combinations, the clear instruction and upbeat teaching style. My technique, balance, and strength have all improved over the last eight months supplementing with these classes. I dance on my own at a large open studio with a barre and mirror at a local YMCA. I bring my smart phone and do your classes there as well. Sometimes I have an audience, and people are interested in learning more about ballet. They ask questions. Your videos have attracted a lot of positive attention all the way here in Duluth Minnesota. I wish all of the dancers and staff of The Dutch National Ballet great success and health! Thank you so much. I really enjoy your classes and they have helped me immensely. I am 54 years old and have been dealing with tight hip flexors and a bad low back. I had significant problems with balancing on one leg, especially the right as that is my bad leg. Because of your classes, my low back pain has subsided and I am regaining strength and flexibility. Thank you Ernst and Rex! These videos have been wonderful! The instruction is clear and the reduced instruction on the second side has been a good challenge. Rex's accompaniment is fabulous and I love watching him play. Since I only started ballet three years ago (I'm a 50-year-old English professor), I've relied on daily follow along videos to supplement my weekly classes. Until your videos I had never found any that I liked led by a male dancer. Although these are obviously great for men or women, I'm especially thankful to have a good male role model. Hello I am a grandmother and package designer from Istanbul who had studied ballet when I was young. During these Covid days I have participted in your classes. Even though I am not flexiable anymore I went back to 40 years back. All the exercises and instructions came back. Thank you for your initiative and efforts. Every problem creates opportunities. I only got up to Barre No 11 today! So, from South Africa, thank you so much, Ernst, for the wonderful classes, beautifully constructed and marvellously demonstrated. I had to stop dancing for nearly a year because I moved to a place where every room I could find had a tiled floor (including what they call dance studios!). During the lockdown I've ended up at my own home in Ireland and have been able to dance in my spare room. Without your videos I would have taken so much longer to get back in shape. In just over a month you have brought me back to feeling like my body is doing what it should again and I am nearly in tears writing this because of how grateful I am for what you have given during this time. Thank you for making me a dancer again...and good luck to all of those returning to the studio!!

one of the best series of classes online. intelligently structured, pitched at the right level (accessible but with genuine bite), and with production values (especially sound) some otherwise excellent efforts neglect. also, may I say....thank you Rex!

So grateful for these classes. At age 75 I need my Barre every day. A challenging class but very do-able and sound. Feet much stronger, back problems gone, posture fantastic. I feel like a teenager again! love from Sussex, England.
