Air France present its passengers a total surprise in the air! For the first time in history, Opera de Paris performed a ballet and dance in the air during flight AF117 from Shanghai to Paris. The performance was during their way back to France after a successful tour in China. Enjoy the show at 35,000 ft and my flight on-board Air France Business Class. Even better, there are cockpit takeoff and landing footage in the video.
Part 1 Ballet - Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky
Part 2 Dance - Four season by Vivaldi
-----
Join me for this extraordinary flight from Pudong International Airport in Shanghai, China to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France with Air France. If you’re a fan of classical music and concerts or if you love the ballet, you won’t want to miss my footage of the first ever ballet performed in the air by the Paris Opera Ballet. The dancers’ stunning grace and rhythm will leave you stunned!
Before beginning this flight, whose memory I will always treasure as one of those really special moments up in the air, I have breakfast in the VIP 39 airport lounge at Pudong International. I treat myself to some Xiao Long Bao, or XLB for short, which are delicious steamed dumplings filled with meat and a tasty vinegar - it’s just the sort of tasty thing to fill you up in the morning and it gets me ready to enjoy the great excitement of the ballet ahead! The 39 Lounge serves really high quality food and the lounge has a European air about it.
I take the flight with Air France in business class and the complimentary slippers that they provide are very welcome! I also enjoy the on-board meal that is provided from the Shanghai end, with shredded chicken and spices. There is also smoked duck breast with a mango skewer, tomato tartare, grilled beef and sautéed shrimp amongst other dishes on offer.
After dinner, it’s time to enjoy the centrepiece of the flight! The dancers dance to Swan Lake by Tchaikovsky in the first part which, if you didn’t know, is about a princess called Odette who is transformed in to a swan after an evil spell is cast on her. Although the dancers are in the cramped aisles of the plane, they still do not fail to deliver an awe-inspiring performance which receives a vigorous round of applause from all on board. The second part sees the dancers dance to the beautiful piece of classical music, Four Seasons by Vivaldi, which is just as impressive.
I’d like to thank you for watching this video and sharing this special moment with me. Please do leave a comment below to let me know what you thought of the whole experience - do you like the ballet or classical music? Should this sort of thing be offered more often as on-board entertainment for the higher aviation classes? Let me know! Thanks again for watching and see you in the next one.
