One of your more interesting videos, Gerhard. Slug choice based on grouping ability and high BC in a particular air rifle. All of them seem to hit hard enough that the effective target is much larger in size that with pellets.
Jou video se beeld kwaliteit is puik.Baie dankie vir nog n baie leersame en opvoedkundige video.ek leer regtig baie by jou.Ek en my kleinseuns geniet elke video.
Thank you demonstrating those various slugs a lot of very useful information/ data really do appreciate the time you take putting these videos together and sharing out for all to see.👍👍
Agreed. Think about it in the context of a head shot. The damage that just the wave produces in itself would be devastating just because of the sudden, instant increase in pressure. The alveoli in the lungs, causing massive hemorrhaging.
Nice comparison. Lekker to see the ballistic gel example. I'm curious about the power level selected for each slug: Was that based on the "ideal" speed for that slug from your gun? Point well made that the size of target animal is important. A slug with minimal expansion and very high penetration could result in it passing on beyond the target with a lot of energy still present in the slug. ie one needs to be careful of what is beyond the target. Thanks for another great video.
To me, the Patriot and FX Hybrid would be my choice for pest control. Less pass through that way less chance of punching holes in the tin roof or buildings. The H&N could continue through the bird and punch a hole somewhere which the farmers might not like. That must have been lots of work tuning for each slug. Thanks for the hard work. When can we get the Patriot slugs back in the USA?
I agree about worrying about pass through!! I'm aiming for iguana hunting, that's almost always in urban area's! I still use 18.1 pellets at a lower power setting in my Maverick. I'm worried with slugs, a missed shot or pass through could result in broken windows or worse yet an injury or pet injury. It's all about tuning for the game And ENVIRONMENT you'll be shooting in!! These SA guys are all about long range, iguana hunting is way more up close and personal. Cool vid as ALWAYS!
Fantastic video, very good information when choosing a slug for your rifle as well as pocket. I shoot knockouts at 965fps out of my Crown mk2 Continiuum with a 700mm barrel, it is an awesome tool, and very accurate. H&N 25gr slugs are second and 25gr Thor slugs third
Great video Gerhard excellent ballistics comparison of the different slugs. I have been shooting the H&N 21.0 grain slugs and receiving great results on putting my targets down very quickly. Cheers brother
Myself question form you when you hunt the pigeons and dove after then did you eat or just kill them?? Bcz majority of pigeons on control shades which is difficult to bring down
