I feel like this collab with Balming Tiger is what broke open the rut and frustration Joon seemed to be struggling with in expressing himself more not only stylistically but but in every aspect of producing, writing, rapping. Being. There's been a marked change in him since and WHAT A GIFT.
"immediately we judge how somebody looks, whether its a male or female, whether they're gay or straight, what country they come from, if they from the hood or the suburbs [...] we jugde that off top and dont even give the music a chance." LOUDERR balming tiger It's a hip-hop group that has been doing their art for years, they deserve all the chances in the world. They break some barriers in Korea, in the group there are queer people, they talk about taboos in the most artistic way. and they are fun! i think sexy nukim so fun, im glad you reacted to the music video !!
@@G.Rudi.B Yeah actually It's 11 with all DJs,rappers, producers and directors. I've seen three of them perform with RM. There is a live performance. He performed with Omega Sapien, Mudd the student and Bj wnjn. They were the members on the song with RM.
One of the things I love the most about your reactions is the vivid visuals you use to describe what you are hearing. The two seater on a dark road, going 80 mph was genius! I always end up listening to the songs in a different way after watching your reactions. Thanks for helping me appreciate music in a whole new way!
@@G.Rudi.B I can't say not everyone hears music that way, I can only speak for myself, and it's more cellular for me, like it permeates every cell in my body, and I can't really describe how that feels. I've had so many ah ha moments when you give your visual descriptions. It's like you bring vision to what I'm feeling at a cellular level. That's what I love about your videos!
DOUBLE UPLOAD?? you’re spoiling us 🤍🙏🏼 if you are interested in seeing the thought process of the RPWP itself i HIGHLY recommend watching “MMM (Mini & Moni Music)” where jimin listens to the album with rm and they discuss about the stories and process! thank you for your reactions btw 🫶🏻
@@G.Rudi.B for V I recommend Stigma by BTS (it’s a solo song released in a BTS album) and his Layover album. For Jin check out Awake by BTS (also a solo song within an album) and Abyss and Tonight.
Last year RM sang this live with Balming Tiger at a cancer charity event sponsored by W Korea magazine. It's on their YT channel. I adore Namjoon for his artistry of course, but I nearly needed to be hospitalized after watching him on the vid 🔥 For this who haven't seen it search: Love Your W 4K 고화질 무대] 바밍타이거(Balming Tiger) ‘섹시느낌’ with RM by W Korea Namjoon introduced me to artists I never would have found otherwise. Just one of the many things I'm grateful for re: him 💜
Love this collab, and the producer behind Balming Tiger is also the producer of RPWP so he's my hero this year. He helped RM develop his new style. Was stoked to see San Yawn and meet him at the Balming Tiger gig in London this summer. And I found them cos of this collab. One of my all time fav BTS collabs.
I am SCREAMING FINALLYYYYYYYYY - side note : can’t wait for you to check out V’s Layover album - I really think you’ll enjoy the vibe. And Jin is working on his solo album so plenty to look forward to!
since you like live performances; V performed several of his Layover songs on Tiny Desk Korea and his live performance was INCREDIBLE. a must-watch for a live performance lover
Same! Through BTS collabs, I started checking out & buying music from various artists I never would have had a chance to encounter: Balming Tiger, So Yoon, Yoon Mirae & Tiger JK, Paul Blanco, etc. I even got to go see So Yoon & her band play a small venue on their tour. I am so happy to learn about these new-to-me artists.
If nothing else, this is actually one of the biggest things BTS has achieved: Opening a lot of people's minds to what is out there beyond the Western world and English-languaged music. And I love it whenever we find something/someone that unites us despite all the barriers and prejudices. 💜
Balming Tiger are realllly talented dudes. I listened to some of their songs and they all sound different~ everything just sounds creative and never boring. RM rapping here is the cherry on top and his voice is just yummyy 😏 their MV is just as trippy as the song. Im really very impressed, this is how rap used to make me feel
Balming Tiger is actually lowkey kinda popping off internationally. They played SXSW, Camp Flog Gnaw, Glastonbury, they even made it on the Late Show. Which is what they deserve!!! Highly recommend checking out their album January Never Dies and their singles, their discography is very binge-able 🔥
I absolutely loved watching your reaction to the RM/Pharrell interview. Your way of interpreting and analyzing things is so insightful, I'm sure I'll love this one as well 💜🫶🏻
Please react to more Balming Tiger, they’re great!!! Alternative K-Hiphop collective with rappers, producers, singers, etc. Songs like 'Armadillo' , 'SOS' or 'Kamehameha' are really cool with crazy MV's. As you already know, RM's recent album Right Place Wrong Person was created with the help of the leader of Balming Tiger, SanYan, and a lot of the album's sound is similar to Balming Tiger's. If you get the chance, please check out a few of their songs because they're heavily underrated!!!
This group Balming Tiger is underappreciated imo. They are like a collective of rappers, musicians, dj's, directors, etc. and people jumping in and out of the group depending on the project. They are very artsy, San Yawn the bald one that is talking on the phone with RM, you get a decent shot of him @11:56 - he is the Creative Director and like the heart of the team. He was who convinced RM to make RPWP after Indigo. I highly like this group, I would suggest checking them out!
you started from listening to jhope and cole , not knowing who jhope was , and look where you ended up ... i am so glad that ARMY kinda guided you , you really know bout the music , i knew from the very begining that you would recongize the talent and everything they had .thanks a lot for your reactions. we look forward to more ,cause i promise you , there's a LOT MORE .
Joon and San Yawn who’s the founder and producer of Balming Tiger became really good friends and San Yawn collaborated in his most recent album, RPWP. I feel like you can notice San Yawn’s influence in RM’s album. If you wanna check more Balming Tiger watch Trust Yourself and Buriburi. Also I just came from your other video and I want to mention that RM was dressed by Bottega Veneta (and he is ambassador btw) and also Pharrell and him have a collaboration somewhere and we know and we all are waiting for it. And I believe in that interview RM refers to his first album Indigo, which is also a MUST!! If you have some time to check it out as well you won’t regret it, it’s another MASTERPIECE!
I will forever be grateful for this collab. One because I feel like they really reignited Namjoon's inspiration. Two because I started digging into Balming Tiger's stuff and it's the weird, quirky sh1t I love. One of their live shows is on my bucket list. Great, wild energy. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
The thing with BTS catalogue is that it's quite literally a no skip... then now they have solo music and even their collabs are right there. This is how esp as a baby army I found myself consuming bangtan only for like 2 months😂 and there's new music and there's varietyyy. You really end up in this bangtan ish for lifeeee. On that note check out smoke sprite in your time❤
This is the truth. It sent me down a rabbit hole. And then bring the music nerd I am, I created a radio show around their sound and catalog. I even named it after Namjoon! BTS scratches my brain RIGHT.
"You fuck with the whole tree now" 😂 I love hearing you talk and dissect music in such a genuine and informed way. BTS and RM also made me find out about Balming Tiger, and they are absolutely incredible ! Thank you for sharing with us !
I love the bicycle 🚲 gear you can hear in the background specially during RM’s verse. My boy coming in on a bike running over that toy car talking smack about Rolls Royce and Ferraris. Honestly I LOVE how you just enjoy good art and music 💜 so glad to have you as a reactor 🫶🏽
He had celebrities screaming for him when he performed this song! The leader is always 🔥 I love this collab so much one of my faves.. shout out from Mexico 🇲🇽
Im so glad youre going through joons solo music he tends to be very different from what he puts out as part of the group (BTS) and like you said everyone has their own preferences but still its nice to see someone really appreciate his solo pursuits
Joon really has some of the coolest features man it’s incredible. Please listen to You, Smoke Sprite, Don’t ever say love me, and Winter Flower they’re all my fave features he’s done!
That is what BTS does, introduce us to amazing talent that we would never have known otherwise. It is something they love to do and share. Both RM albums was loaded with amazing talents.
I agree with you💯 at what you spoke on at 14:30. That's why I feel people struggle so much with BTS they look at them and because they don't look like our Western performers, I hear, I don't like their music. And that's fine if you give it a chance and you truly don't like it. However for me the musicality is the same as western music maybe sometimes better. They're just speaking a different language. Thank you for your insight. I think the world be a much better place if we could just open our minds to different things, culture and people. Okay I'm done on my mini rant. 😊. Nice reaction! 💜
Am not even gonna lie, your reactions are the best. Most reactors just react to how the song goes, but you analyzing lyrics, video, choreo, beats and everything. I don't even mind watching your reaction for 30+mins
“I hear students”. You dare to tap in and grow and bring us all along with you on the intellectual ride of discovering these unique artists and their craft. I always walk away with a deeper appreciation for the music after you react to it. Thank you.
Gameboy reacts with substance. You know that he is a subject matter expert geared with years of listening to diff kinds of music. Its an intelligent commentary, he always knows what he's saying.
San Yawn from Balming Tiger was one of the Right Person, Wrong Place's producers. RM, at some point, decided he didn't want to produce anymore. He is a lyricist. That's what he likes to do. On the BTS team, Suga is a writer/producer. They and J-Hope are the main writers on the team. J-Hope writes and produces his own albums, same with Suga. RM wrote, produced his first two mixed tapes. Not sure if he produced Indigo but he wrote that album too along with the collaborators.
Exactly all this. The way you discovered BTS via J Cole but with an open mind, it's what makes it great. Some people said J Cole lowered himself to collab with a kpop nobody boyband at the time, but it didn't come to their brains to trust Cole and think otherwise like "Cole wouldn't collab with anyone so that guy must be something". Thanx again for sharing your amazing rabbit hole with your kind of mindset. Sincerely we all missed your takes on BTS's music💜
You said it ("I KNOW MUSIC ") AND THAT IS WHY, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE AND HEAR YOUR REACTION TO NEURON. from J Hope. And TROUBLE from RM&JIN. If I've tuned you into something that makes you happy I'm happy. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉😊
Amazing how sounds can evocate so much. Loved this and love this RM. He is so on point. I am a 51 yo rock lover who only listened to US and British music. Now Asia has my heart. So many amazing musicians and performers. So many great rappers, great rock bands , great solo artists and of course BTS has my heart. I am now purple blooded.
Props for the Knight Rider reference!! 😂 One of the things I am loving about all the solo work is that they have so much musicality, letting the instrumentation shine; real musicians & the live bands are 🔥!!
Love your approach to branching out! That’s what open minded real music lovers do! The rewards are infinite: so much talent and creativity out there to discover and appreciate…
Loved your reaction. Been following you since the beginning. I so agree about keeping an open mind. BTS has turned me on to so many artists I enjoy. I recently went to an IU concert here in the US that was phenomenal.
Great discovery. I'm glad it's time for Balming Tiger...Now I'm waiting for the a completely new experience with V, a must see Tiny Desk Korea life concert ...with session musicians....
You definitely wind up fucking with the whole tree! I got curious about the vocals of just one person, them wound up climbing the whole BTS tree (they are all and each SO talented in their own very different ways, yet still mesh together in the best way). From there, I learned about all sorts of other hip hop and alternative artists I would literally never have run across in my corner of American life. Also, I really appreciate how you both break down and point out what you hear as a music professional. I get a whole new appreciation for it because you hear what others miss.
It's Sssooooo much good Music out there that Honors the ART & the Language of Music. I've always been a hungry listener. I need music to expose me to newness. I need sounds that tap into the unusual. And Lyrics that fulfill things in me. Stimulating music with artictic purpose. No pretense, No commercial focus, just pure Creativity and Dare. RM Has introduced me to so much music! 💜 BTS made Music fun for me again. Balming Tiger is so good. Genius attracts Genius. Sam Yawn & RM just makes sense.
I love your reactions so much. You always dissect the music so clearly. You get what they're trying to say through the beat and the lyrics. You can definitely tell you love music and supporting people who does too. 🙌🙌
San Yawn, the big guy on the phone with RM in the "fan shop" 😂, is the one of the main guys who worked with RM on the songs and sound. RM gives him a shout out in the song Groin. Part of what Groin better than you think initially is all the references and in-jokes RM sprinkles throughout it. Watch the MV again and let me know what you think
I'd say they're all pretty weird, but yeah especially Omega Sapien and Mudd the Student Balming Tiger call themselves an "alternative K-Pop band" gotta love it
Can't belive you replayed RMs part 4 times!!!....i did the same ...RM part just added that little extra to a classic Balming Tiger song .....its no wonder that San Yawn from Balming Tiger played a lead role in RMs RPWP.....
I LOVE your responses - you're open to what you're hearing and you hear what they're doing. It's refreshing! This track reminds me of UK trip hop in the late 90s/early 00s. Like Tricky and Massive Attack.
I was screaming at the screen, knew you’d dig Mudd the Student (he was right before RM). BT’s MVs are great but the also had a performance on Colbert a while back which is def worth watching. Can’t WAIT for you to hear and Jin & V, but also hope you’ve seen Persona & Wild Flower by now. Thanks, 💜 you
I’m so glad that you tapped into Balming Tiger! They’re so amazing and their recent album is insane. I hope they tour on the US at some point. They’re considered alt-K-pop but I think of them more like a collective. Vocal line let’s go - you gotta watch V’s singularity is AMAZING. And he has a new solo album too. I think you’d love Jungkook’s Standing Next To You. Thank you again for inviting us to listen with you.
Thank you for this. Really enjoy your reaction and analysis and appreciate your perspective as always! Before you continue on with the vocal line, would you consider reacting to Mini Moni Music exchange. Mini is Jimin, Moni is RM. They get together to talk about their albums. Episode 1 is RM talking about RPWP and Episode 2 is Jimin talking about MUSE. Perhaps give Jimin's EP a listen too.
Another Korean Hip-hop recommendation for you: Epik High. BTS gave homage to them in "Hip-hop Lover" that you've previously reacted to. They're one of the names in Korean Hip-hop back then (Epik High, Drunken Tiger, Seo Taiji, Verbal Jint etc). RM & SUGA are quite close to Epik High members, with SUGA even invited EH member Tablo to his Suchwita talk show to discuss about music.
Blaming Tiger became one of my favorite acts after RM made a collab with them , their song Trust yourself is a bop you should give their discography a try 😊
i’m SO happy you’re getting into Balming Tiger !!! these guys are so talented man. I genuinely love your reaction videos the most, you’re always spot on and have such a great musical ear - so I can’t wait for you to react to more of their music, i’m sure you’ll appreciate the oddness sometimes 🫡
This reaction video was everything🙌 I love how you recognise and appreciate quality workmanship. They truly are students of their craft! This track is just so satisfying to the ears!
As always, live for your reactions and for your open mind when reacting. If all of us had just a small inkling of appreciation for things that are outside of our comfort zone, we’d be better for it.
I am soooo glad you checked this, and Balming Tiger out. I had a feeling you could really appreciate the artistry of it all. I am also grateful to RM for introducing many of us to this group. I'd be happy and totally fine if you too your time getting to listen to each member at your own pace. No rush to have to go through all of them quickly. Its a way to get to know them and then understand what they all bring to the group when they are together. The group is ALL 7 of them. Each one of them is irreplaceable. Seeing each one of them will make you see why they work so well, and are strong together. The 7 is what makes them BTS. Take your time. Also, if you do check out V next, I'd recommend singularity and his Layover Tiny Desk Concert. (I think you will enjoy that concert) As for Jin, Jin's voice is the one that will suddenly make me cry in a song when he starts singing like in Truth Untold and his delivery of Epiphany (perfect for the message of the song). Don't know the musical term, but whatever he sings at can evoke that type of emotion. Side note: would love for you to see Jimin's recent video drop of a live performance of Rebirth & Slow Dance. Slow Dance is just one of those songs. Thank you again for your thoughtful, intelligent, and heartfelt reactions. 💜
Oh definitely, I hear it for sure! Yello was one of my favourite bands growing up and they were so ahead of their time, but I never hear anyone talk about them (except that "oh yeah" song). I hope more people check them out!
Thank you really im so grateful for you doing this so professional give your honest opinion your brave and you always decoded bts music and others for me just thank you for doing that for just love of music I really recommend jhope album "jack in the box" too
This collab open new world for me. Sexy Nukim will always be one of my favorite collaboration by RM/BTS. I realized like 100% where so much is going on, experimental but in a good way. This also make sense why i love RPWP alot. Thank you RM for introducing to this talented artists Balming tiger and widening our music taste
