You can tell it’s on purpose just the first scene in the car reminds me of “In The Mood for Love” or the scene in front of the store it’s “Chungking Express”, when they eat and smoke inside the restaurant it’s “Fallen Angels”, the slow mo shots and more !! That MV is very beautiful juste like the song❤

not to mention the MV's themselves are a pure trip, like a payoff to Wong Kar Wai cinematography but with an entirely fresh twist and an amazingly sense of reckless abandon, I LOVE EM

@@moonchild3916 Oh hell yeah, well I straight-up started out with Chungking Express! And followed it up with Fallen Angels. They seem connected somehow - you'll see why, and they are both mini-anthologies with 2 storylines with their own characters within them, one told in sequence, the other told in parallels, if I remember correctly. Then the natural order of things would be to then watch In The Mood For Love, then 2046 - which I haven't done yet, but am planning to! I think so. Thing is, I don't have any proper basis for this, just my personal preference. But I recommend starting out with the first 2, as Chungking is among the most popular and recognizable and has a lot of motifs you'll find familiar and/or enjoy, so even if you don't like it so much, it will stay with you for the pleasant stuff in it you did like despite you not wanting to continue watching other WKW films - if you do find yourself in that situation, that is, hahah. Hope you enjoy them! His movies are raw and bittersweet but stay with you for a long time.

@@MrAuditore96 wow I just finished Chungking express and it felt like I was watching a Haruki murakami book come to life …. The second half with the policeman really bored me but there’s no doubt that there’s a certain vibe only Wong kar wai can create , and the whole film made me nostalgic of my childhood haha really great visuals!! As slow as it was, I am definitely going to watch the other movies you’ve recommended ,,, will be back in sometime 😉 onto fallen angels now

I'm so happy you liked it! the policeman story felt a bit off for me too, like there was sth dragging BUT i think the slowmo scenes with faye wong really did the trick and made it memorable imo; plus yeah, there's like such a specificity to wkw's stuff, like who else could have a super popular song like california dreamin' repeated so much and still carry meaning?? like yeah, so good btw if you wanna share more stuff let's talk on something, do you have discord? maybe we could discover cool stuff by recomming to each other!
