How refreshing to see another guy building a balsa/ply kit. Been building and flying since 1975. Built and flew just about everything over those years. Mastered FPV and Quad building and now I have come full circle back to building a balsa kit. You are doing a great job and your servo selection is spot on! Glad I found your channel on RU-vid. Awesome thanks! This is why I started this channel. I wasn’t seeing much of building kits when I got back into the hobby and I was curious if people were doing it much. Well, my good chap...Say no more...I have had splendid success with the PowerHD brand 1501 analog servos...Up to 200+oz/in of torque...The price is right too...I used to order them from Value Hobby outta Chicago, but he only accepts PayPal...I don't have PayPal account anymore...Too much hassle with PayPal...I now order them from Aloft Hobbies outta San Diego, California...A dollar or so more in price, but I don't don't have to deal with PayPal...Like I said...the price is right and I neva had any problems with them...And, they are Metal gears also... Also for me, I used a simple "Length x Width " measurement of the Controls surface...Basic rectangle measurements...or whatever size motor I'm using...I used that as a starting point...As you stated...The type of flying that the plane will experience is a factor...😊😊
😂😂😂...!!!... Haaaa!!!... Me and you are probably the only 2 dudes on the planet still using NiMh batteries...I have used Lipos, but still not "sold" on them, especially the "fireworks " that they cause...And, you need a Voltage regulator to drop the voltage down or risk burning up your servos...I have a regulator, but they are getting scarce to find...I will keep using my NiMh's no matter what...I make up my own packs from Energizers from Walmart...2300 maH....Green Label...AA4...😊😊😊
