Even if you took the a-11 inspiration out of the equation, this is just a great, clean, functional field watch. Love it.

The sweet spot for field watches is 36mm like the Rolex Explorer I and the Dirty Dozen watches. Field watches were designed to be small and thin so it can go under the sleeve of a field jacket and a field shirt. 38mm is actually the maximum size.

Even though the microscope view goes beyond what one would probably notice with the naked eye, there is something hugely satisfying about it.

Thank you. The idea is just to look closely at the hands and dial markers. This will show how well its made. Baltany passed on this test, for the money you really cant complain with the printing and ledgability of it.

It's always nice to see an nh38 being used so there isn't a ghost date position. The coin edge bezel looks great in my opinion. Baltany seems to have the market cornered on quality vintage military homages. I'm looking forward to when you get to your A11. Thanks for another great review!

Thanks Bristol. Agreed the use of the NH38 is how it should be done even though I dont mind a ghost position I never like to know there is a complication going on under the dial that is not in use! My A11 will eventually hit the channel. I am still working on the Omega video which will be an amazing adventure and story and I am hopeful that video will do really well (hoping, really hoping..) I also have my first Rolex to film, an Enicar and a Longines. I am almost flipping a coin on what video comes next!

I recently finished a Longines Conquest from the 70's, I believe caliber 706. It'll be neat to see yours too. Cheers!

Picked one of their Pilot Chronographs up in the last sale. It’s a great watch for the money. This one looks just as well made and really clean - it’s true that sometimes less is more. Great review and camera work. Brilliant to see the extreme close ups!

Thank you. I dont think you will see many taking a watch out of the case! I am happy to where i can as it makes it a bit more interesting. Baltany certianly make some good watches for the price they offer. The have just sent me a chronograph to review. It a homeage of a Longines. Looks nice to be fair. A few things I dont like but they will be revealed in the review.

I like a field watch, the A11 is exactly the type of watch I like. This is a fantastic take on the iconic watch. The price is really good, almost cost.

Lovely watch and excellent review. I have a Baltany 6BB mecha quartz. It has one of the best crystals I've seen on a cheaper watch.

I have the new Vario dirty dozen watch. It my personal watch but I will be producing a review of it. They have added their own twist to it like a crown at 4 which the purists will scoff at but I like the fact they are putting their own twist on things.

Thanks for the feedback. The macro shots add to my reviews hopefully. Not sure many reviewers would dare to take a watch out of the case. My A11 has been in the queue for a video for absolute months..... It will eventually make it. I do need a tool to remove a wheel on it and the tool is £50+ !!

It’s funny you should say that. I know the owner of Vario personally plus I do their uk warranty work. I have had a very personal 1918 with an inscription which I have been filming only yesterday (owned it for 18months) mainly because I also have the new 1945 D12 I will be reviewing each watch separately. Both are my personal watches.

It's very hard to tell, because every tme I freeze-frame it, the image goes blurry - but is the 'tail' of the hairspring resting over the top of the coils instead of being away from them - thus causing friction in some attitudes?

You can’t see the tail on the video, the bit you might be mistaking is the terminal curve. On the NH movements they are quite prominent and have a big adjustment before they become the centric circles.

@@MyRetroWatches I might be using the wrong name in my iggerens! If you follow the hairspring round to the outer end, by the adjuster, there is a long piece protruding to the right that appears to curve round either over or under the working spring - that's the bit I mean by 'the tail'.

Did everyone face quality issues with this watch? I had to take mine to a watchmaker for cleaning, as there was a speck of paint pealed off from the dial wondering around under the crystal. The watchmaker also told me that I should rather not swim with this watch as the water resistant is questionable. Did anyone swim with it?
